At the end of last month I got the confirmation of my booking for the caravan cabin in Kingston SE.

Not liking my chances of getting there now. Not that I want to go through our WA hard border. I have always loved the Nullabor and I like it EVEN MORE now it's keeping us safer.:clapping:

I still have $1,483 in credit with Virgin for my Yeppoon trip that didn't happen and I recon I've kissed that credit goodbye.

Kingston is a bit too close to Sicktoria at the moment anyway.

Anything that happens next year is a bonus I'd say.

I'm only planning my international trip for 2022 at the moment with tongue in cheek.

Good to hear from you @Chook and to know you are safe and well. Yup I reckon international travel is off for a while - I was planning a return trip to UK next year but reckon that’s off. Looks like internal interstate travel will also be restricted for a while

Sold my Sysmic and quite a few kites. Now moved and settling into downsized house but still have my Peter Lyn F buggy, 2 kites, a harness and helmet.   ...... so! Take care over there in the Wild West.

I was listening to the ABC radio the other day and Lucy Tink from Serviceton was talking about the debacle of the border closure for residents/farmers etc that have property both sides of the border.  Related to Jenny & @bull31 ?  Got the new van almost ready to go too.... @mik333 have you still got #456?  How are you finding it?  We're #458.

Yep , Hi John, Lucy is married to a second cousin and only live a few kms from our farm but on VIC side and also have farm land in SA as do many farmers in this area . It has gone crazy with with people not being able to do shopping or go to doctors etc. They now have to travel a lot further into VIC to do these things. Jenny’s brother leases our farm and he also lives just over the border in VIC and he has to travel a lot further to go through border check points even though our farm and another of theirs is only a few kms down the road from them. Don’t know the answer to the issues but it’s not easy and there’s a lot of animosity to in the community at the moment with an us and them mentality which is crazy as they are family, friends and work colleagues of all of us.
we ourselves have sold our house in Bordertown and since mid March have lived mostly in Kingston with the occasional trip back to bordertown to get mail etc. and stay at the farm which is only a bit over a km from the border

Stay safe everyone in these uncertain times and hope to see you all in January but is looking less and less unlikely. Here’s hoping ?.

cheers Brenton

ps: nice van , I new you’d come over to the soft side soon.  Enjoy your travels in it.

Hey @Kozzie,

Kingston SE in an annual trip over to South Australia mid January with most of the Victorian's (and a handful from NSW and ACT and one WA) heading over to have a couple of weeks flying, buggying, chasing me in my blo-fly (Land Yacht) etc. But with the current boarder closures, it might be on hold for a while.

All the best

Well I received confirmation of my accommodation at the caravan park in Kingston yesterday for next year.

After a telephone conversation with them this morning they are really going over and above to work through these covid times and Western Australia's hard border policy.

If I give them at least 7 days notice my deposit will be refunded in full. Less than 7 days I will be charged a $20.00 cancelation fee. How good is that.:clapping:

So............. Fingers crossed we will arrive in Kingston on the 16th Jan and depart on the 27th Jan 2021.

Mezz mentioned that she had her permits to me yesterday and I thought 'permits'?  What permits?  Thought I'd better look it up.  Sure enough, if you're coming from interstate  you need to fill in an online form and print it out so you can show it to police if stopped.  Only takes a couple of minutes and I got an approval email within minutes of doing it.  I have no idea how many of the roads into S.A. are patrolled and if you're likely to be stopped, but I didn't know we needed a permit to travel to S.A. from Vic (or elsewhere).  Online form is here: S.A. Police travel application  I'll be heading over on Monday - assuming Covid stays under control in Vic - looking forward to catching up.  And maybe even having a buggy (think my last outing was Kingston 2019)

Well Kingston SE 2021 is almost coming to an end for @igeightyand I. We’ve managed to get a buggy and a sail on both the beach and the Clay Pan this year. Both were in excellent condition.

Lots of people in town this year, this year’s trip has coincided with the annual fishing competition, which means for two days, the beach is out of bounds, the Victorian Blokart Club have returned and a new arrival this year have been a 4x4 club with an expected attendance of roughly 400 vehicles.

I’m sitting here in our annex and for the first time since we arrived, the rain is gently falling, @jhn.holgateand @Angus Johnstonewere venturing out to the pan, hopefully it’s not too sticky for them.

This year’s attendance role :-

@Mez @igeighty @roblukin@jhn.holgate @Angus Johnstone @Grants @BobM @Darren Tibbey @The Duke@AliNev and Most of the SA crew!

Had such an awesome time on my first trip to Kingston, AND my first time meeting real life kiters!

The highlight for me was my best ever buggy session by far, out on the clay pan with @jhn.holgate before the rain hit on Monday. Alas, my GoPro failed me. Luckily John captured, edited and soundtracked the magic better than I could have dreamt!

So excited to be able to share this with friends and family who are still a little confused about the whole kite buggy caper 😂

Thanks again everyone, especially @jhn.holgate, for taking me under your collective wing!
