I sold my mountain bike a few weeks ago and I was going through the bits and pieces I still had for it (deciding what to sell or throw out), when I came across some chain dry lube. A wax based, solvent free lube. That is designed to not attract dust or wash off with water. Hmmm, What could I possibly use this for? it was obvious really. So today I grabbed a length of old kite line, wiped some on and let dry for half an hour. this is the result. The chain lube was applied to the left half obviously. The coated line has a nice slippery feel, that didn’t want to rub off. I also ran my finger nails up and down it to try and get the little fra…

Pulling apart an older cabrinha bar and cutting through the depower I found this. What’s the plan with this? Extra strength? Surely 6mm dyneema is strong enough. Safety indicator, that the line is getting worn? The line is PU sheathed, so I’m guessing not

Hi - have two young children desperate to take their new kite to the beach this morning and i have no idea how to tie the knots! This is the kite: - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01H26FRCK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And this is a scan of the very unclear instructions. Can anybody tell me what knot to tie in step 3, and what should i do in steps 4 and 5 as the images are quite poor. Many many thanks if you can help me.

Hi folks. I have recently purchased a second hand 2015 Chrono from the US. I am confused by the speed system and the attachments for the control lines as one has the normal knot at the end of the bridle line to attach the larkspur knot from the control line but the other has the small loop that forms a larkspur knot. Am I missing a pig tail or something? Photos below. Any advice from you Chrono experts would be appreciated as I don’t want to connect this beast to my harness and find I have serious control problems! Thanks

Just got an Aviator bar and lines but no manual. I have set up bars before, but this looks different from what I'm used to. What's going on here...? I know the front lines attach here, but how..? Don't want to assume anything. Also how do I attach safety line...? Cant find manual on PL website for bar.

Steffen and his crew at Born-Kites continue to innovate and today made public their newest offering, the RaceStar. Like their other kites this one is SS too. I'm going to be getting one over the winter and plan to bring it to IBX2018. I'm excited and a little nervous to fly such a high (6.0) AR kite, but who knows, maybe I'll be the fastest SS guy on the playa! Steffen sent me some pictures and a series of bullet points describing his new baby. I believe it will be available for purchase early next year. Gotta love that Steffen keeps innovating!!! RaceStar, the first serial single skin high performer AR = 6.0, very good up-wind characteristics Constru…

So I flew my 9m Chrono v2 ystrdy. Winds were upper teens/gusty and I treated her gingerly. Had some tip collapses which were no big deal. However the trim rope kept getting wrapped around my lines when I would spin the bar after looping the kite. I even ran it over at one point when sheeted in. I also had it jump out of cleat and fully power when unexpected. Any tips...?I will say this is very different from Arc flying. Much different animal, very fast, lotsa depower. A lot to get used to, but I can tell this thing is gonna be a hoot !!

I usually carry a smaller foil in my cars, either my 1.5M or 2.5M HQ alpha. (I would also like to get a small-medium single skin kite to also carry with me.) I hope for high wind days after work and hope that nothing else comes up so I can get out and fly for a little bit. I am wondering how many of us carry a kites randomly in our cars, just in case? If you do, what style, brand or size do you carry. Do you carry stunt kites, foils, single skins, lei's? How often are you able to take advantage of this? Eric

Tuning a kite is not just about making either the steering / front lines longer or shorter. I get that. But for kites that have a mixer like Flysurfer kites, is it the same principle in tuning the bridles? My Pansh is up for sale, but I flew it out of the bag last week for the first time in a year, to see if everything is ok. Alas, the leading-edge crumbled on me when the kite went to 12 o'clock. It doesn't tend to happen along the other areas of the wind-window, such as 3, 2 and 1 o'clock, but only when it's at zenith. And not all the time, sometimes. The problem I think is that when the wind dies down a little, the leading edge collapses, and doesn't hold its shape like…

Version 2 of the Born-Kite LongStar has just been released... Judging by the pictures - which is always a dangerous thing to do - it looks very promising. Starting at 289 Euro for the 3.5m it's also available in a 5.5m and 7.5m. The original Long Stars had enormous low end power and a really eye catching design - I'll be really interested to see how these go. More info here: http://www.venturi-power.de/index.php?cat=c24_Long-Star--2--LongStar.html Also, it looks like the Born Kite site has had a bit of a makeover. Stay tuned for more info

A number of us had a good discussion on PKF recently concerning the attributes and trade offs of having a DP quiver managed with one bar across kites or perhaps a bar for each kite in the quiver. I'm curious what my "Southern" friends think about this topic. Personally, I'm a kite buggier flying a complete quiver of Born-Kite LongStar2s. I'd been trying to get away with a single bar across all five kites but was finding myself increasingly frustrated with the time spent (read wasted) swapping the bar across the kites as conditions changed. I just bit the bullet and bought three new bars so I would have a dedicated bar for my 3.5, 5.5, and 7.5m LS2s (the ones I use m…

We bought a house at the start of the year and I claimed one of the downstairs rooms for kite storage. But after a month the room still looks like this... So I’m after some ideas about how to organise things. The room is about 3m x 2.6m and needs to fit 3 PL buggies, 3 kiteboards, about 12 arc kites (that never have the spars removed, so are quite long) and 5 regular sized kite bags. Plus other odds and ends. i was thinking ceiling height shelves, but not sure what the best way to store the buggies and arcs? So does anyone have any ideas for possible setups?
