hello all I've been busy on Gumtree and picked up a ripsurf for $50.00. They are awesome. They are pretty cheap new as well - I think about $130 from Target. They are easier to ride than a rip stick and have a real surf feel to them. The wind was a bit rubbish (a bit too light) but I think the potential for speedy carving action is there. So, if you like longboarding with a kite, consider adding one of these toys to the play box. Bob2

Repair time for my FlySurfer kites. The pulley lines have busted on one kite, pulley lines on others are on their way out and one none pulley bridle busted needing replacement. FlySurfer offer a line service but are expensive, so time to consider alternatives to make my own. FlySurfer does publish the line plans giving both the lengths of the finished product and the length before the loops have been made. So off I go and measure some of the bridles and they are quite different to the published data, sure I understand the lines shrink over the years as dirt gets in, but did not expect them to be so different. For instance the st1 bridle which directly attaches to the cano…

March 2017: Introducing the Peter Lynn Aero.... Peter Lynn Aero Videos... Pre 2017 Information: The new Depower Race Kite was spotted at No Barriers 2015 event in the UK. In amongst a sea of kites with colours and graphics, what's the best way to hide your latest prototype? Ahh yes, make it bland with no graphics and that won't have anyone asking any questions Photo Credit: Scott Fryer, Action Shot of the Peter Lynn Depower Race Foil Kite Photo Credit: Theo Southee Photography

I am looking for alternatives to the Woo and Xsensor, because I want a device that does more than just record GPS and height data (flunky at best I've heard). Is there a Garmin watch, a Smart watch, anything that is water proof and reads jumps properly?

I was historically a big fan of the Peak2 line of single skins and at one point owned the entire quiver. I sold them off over time and quite excitedly bought the 6m and 12m Peak3s. I have now sold both P3s. The kites themselves have been refined and are really quite nice. Oddly (in my mind) the bridling/pulley system has been modified in the V-3. P1s and P2s featured a standard two-pulley-per-side rigging out at the kite for DP, but the P3s only have a single pulley on each side. This has resulted in much higher bar pressure for the P3s than the P2s (and presumably the P1s though I've never flown a P1). We're talking A LOT of bar pressure! I'm a strapping lad but …

The new Flysurfer Sonic Race has been released for 2017, this is Flysurfer's 3rd release for the Sonic series. I've put together a quick comparison chart based off the info on the Flysurfer website. First up for key noticeable differences however is that they've removed a whole row of bridles, instead of A B C Z bridling they're running A B Z. Next is the cell count, moved from 49 to 65 cells, and then the wingtips whilst still having a slight flat area look far more rounded. Overall weight is also down on the kites and they've introduced a 7M and 21M removing the 6M from the series. This year they're publishing suggested line lengths as well, ranging from 12M to…

The surgery is complete and a new 1830 F-arc is created. its over 12m wing tip to wing tip. Flat area of 18.33m. And has an aspect ratio of 8 It hasn't been test flown yet, so I'm trying not to get too excited as it may all end up in a crumpled heap. cheers to @outlaw for sharing the link to the instructions. I wouldn't have know it was possible. http://www.extremekites.com.au/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=18462

It's no secret that I have spent a bit of time modifying and generally farcing about with the peter lynn f-arcs, so I thought that it was time to put all the info into one place, so that others can learn from my experience. Some of the mods below were created by other people, the rest I have adapted or created entirely myself. But all the mods that I'll list have been performed and tested on my own kites to confirm that they are safe and functional. Sorry for the sudden flood of posts all over the forums.. My son is doing a school project in science, and he wants to make a depower kite but using recycable materials that will break over time if dumped. He will get bonus points if the time frame of decomposing the materials is soonish. So we've got the bar and lines already using thin box twine and bamboo for a bar, banana leaves rolled multiple times for a chicken loop and wooden loops (from curtain rails) for depower rings, etc. Frankly it looks the bomb! But the kite - he wants to create a twin-skin using something like bananana leaves, or something perhaps industrial but will break over time. Ap…

I've seen videos of guys jumping off cliffs, etc (Len10 comes to mind), and they're using kite surfing LEI or foil kites to jump with. The Flysurfer manual I have says, for jumping .. "you have a parachute". Wow. really?! How safe is it to jump with a foil from a height and would I have to keep sining (or megalooping) the kite to keep it powered? I guess the worst is of course the kite collapsing and we both plummet... (pun unintentional).

Over the years I have purchased some PL kites only to find the owners haven't rinsed them in fresh water after use and the zipper mechanism has completely corroded. I'm wondering if anyone has replaced a zipper on an ARC style kite and what they used (plus challenges they encountered)? I'm assuming I'll need a plastic zipper to minimise corrosion, and if replacing the whole unit was considering painting the material section with silicone to minimise porosity. Alternately, I wonder if it is possible to only replace the pull tab? Anyone have experience with this?

Anyone got any idea how to repair or replace a damaged bridle line? Has worn through the outer covering exposing the inner core. Dont want to risk flying like that.

Time to share, lets see the latest kite added to your collection? Here's a kickstart, I've been getting a bit nostalgic lately so here's a Blade MK1 that I recently picked up as part of a "Mystery Box" that I bought which had a few kites in it. I love the colours of the Blade MK1's, really wish more kites had a bit of retro in them these days as they're quite colourful.
