From the Canary Media Site French startup Airseas have started trials of kite power supplementing the energy used on cargo shipping. https://www.canarymedia.com/articles/sea-transport/watch-this-cargo-ship-fly-a-giant-kite-to-save-fuel-and-cut-emissions Airseas deployed both a 2,700-square-foot kite and a 5,400-square-foot version. Airseas estimates that its Seawing system will eventually be able to curb ships’ fuel consumption — and associated greenhouse gas emissions — by an average of 20 percent. I believe there are some trials of onshore based systems in Scotland and will update when information is available / appropriate. I have…

I don't know how the customer service is around the world but here in the UK I have to say it's pretty good. Now that could be genuine or because I'd been a member since 2003 and a prime member for nearly a decade. One example I can recall was quite a few years ago when I bought my son a Leapfrog camera and all the packaging was in french. Got in touch and they sent another one out and said return the one you have anytime within the next 30 days. I ended up with 2 in the house...needless to say this one was french too. In the end I sent both back and went to Argos for it but Amazon were happy to compensate in terms of a voucher. I've had many vouchers and extensions…

Personally I prefer live recordings of tracks, and if I find an album version of a song I like I immediately go on the hunt for a live, acoustic or unplugged recording. Share your favourite Acoustic & Live Performances of songs you enjoy here... Guitar at the end of this one may just get @jhn.holgate jamming in his studio...

Sometimes things just don't go to plan... Jim Theodorakopoulos 26/09/1963 - 10/11/2018 My Dad's battle with cancer is now over, but the memories he left behind are not. For nearly 15 years he'd come to our Sandy Point meets and lend a hand, a lot of people here will remember him from the XK Meets where he'd come setup the Gyros and cook. Dad's first passion was Fishing, he'd always pack his rods then comment that I would "find the windiest blown out places on the face of the earth." So eventually he put the rods away, bought a Kite Buggy and packed that instead. Once his kite control and confidence grew, so did the…

In a back seat witnessing one man's mission to bring a collective history of kiting together, I thought the community better put the question up whether @.Joel there is anything we can help with. While most of us aren't coders there might be some in the community who are, so feel free to put up a call for assistance. If you've got it all under control, no worries. When the times right stick a "say thanks" button up the top of the website linked to your paypal account, or a "high-5" button with hit counter. Be good to show some appreciation.

Google has bought Makani Power, which is developing a kite powered generator - a tethered kite or wing that has turbines on top to create power. A very weird looking beastie indeed. There's a demo video here: And an actual in-use video here: Story here: Link to news article I suppose a kite is really just a wing. And if you tether a wing, does it become a kite? Either way, very nice to see some technical development going on in power generation from kites.

Welcome to 2020, where Extreme Kites is run by a Benevolent Dictator and the help of the community The new rules are here: https://www.extremekites.org/terms/ Report Types: Being a Dickhead Illegal / Hateful Spam Other Community Moderation Actions If three or more members flag a post as "Illegal / Hateful" or "Spam" the post will automatically be hidden and enter the report queue. Anyone own or use a sit/stand desk at work? Could you share your experience? How often do you use it for example in a standing position? Thinking of purchasing the motorised version with height memory.

Melissa and I would like to introduce you to our son Zachary. Born on March 30th he’s an amazing reminder of how great life can be when so much seems uncertain. He’s brought so much happiness to our family and become the ‘little brother’ that Olivia so ‘patiently’ waited for.

I hope everyone is (and continues to be) fit and healthy, and coping. I suspect a major effect of the current situation will be a significant impact on people's emotional well-being, especially as it drags on. Remember, we can all use forums to keep in touch, air our thoughts/worries, and offer each other support. Fingers crossed, we'll all be catching up in person sooner rather than later. Kingston 2021 may end up being HUGE. Stay safe, and keep in touch
