  1. From the Canary Media Site French startup Airseas have started trials of kite power supplementing the energy used on cargo shipping. https://www.canarymedia.com/articles/sea-transport/watch-this-cargo-ship-fly-a-giant-kite-to-save-fuel-and-cut-emissions Airseas deployed both a 2,700-square-foot kite and a 5,400-square-foot version. Airseas estimates that its Seawing system will eventually be able to curb ships’ fuel consumption — and associated greenhouse gas emissions — by an average of 20 percent. I believe there are some trials of onshore based systems in Scotland and will update when information is available / appropriate. I haven't been out on either with Board, buggy or indeed static over the last 3 or 4 months, fingers crossed for some 1/2 decent weather. Regards from the UK
  2. The above post is not the same as you uploaded, its locking mechanism will not release under tension. Try the link below, other sizes are available, https://www.google.com/shopping/product/3347916677370726963/offers?q=wichard+hr+quick+release+snap+shackle+with+swivel+eye&client=firefox-b-d&biw=1348&bih=797&dpr=1.58&prds=eto:17894653765940323349_0,pid:1069016707250405872,rsk:PC_10295172861557252245&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjj89CqnPv4AhUrSUEAHZJdAEkQ2SsIGw
  3. Hi The buggy looks like a custom or homemade item, and it looks like a good build although others members may be able to add further insight. I would suggest that you build the buggy up and adjust for size at home, which means you will be ready to go when you arrive at the flying zone. One thing I like about the design of your buggy is the luggage rack, I haven't thought of this addition before, it makes sense., looks really functional and would be a handy place to store kites and stakes close to hand. I believe the majority of mass-produced buggies (if there ever was a such thing) are supplied with rims that look pretty much like this: Hub These can come with 2 standard sized bearings & bolt sizes, of either 12mm or 20 mm bolts, the 20mm is normally used for bigfoot / larger tyres (race buggies) or on buggies used for ariel tricks, sorry I do not know the bearing specs. The rims pictured look to be different to the commercially used rims, but they should be able to take the load. I would suggest that you remove the bearings for inspection before you think about buying new, if they have a rubber shield you can disassemble them and inspect for damage, normally they just need a good clean. please see below a link on how skateboarders refurbish bearings. Strip, Clean & Rebuild If your bearings have no surface damage and are cleaned, lubricated and rebuilt, they should be fit for loads more miles and smiles. Just be careful not to damage the rubber Shields when / if you strip the bearings down, any damage to the shields will leave a gap for dirt and grit to get into the bearings in the future. I don't know where on earth you are, I am in the UK and these are the suppliers I have used for bearings and tyres before: Bearings Hubs & Tyres Hope the above helps, good luck and enjoy!
  4. Joel, Thank you for your time and effort in resurecting Kitecrowd, thge loal fliers and friends all used to keep intouch and plan meetings on what was at the time a very popular site. There were some really good threads about pimping buggies and boards that people should have a deep dive and explore what fliers used to get up to. Can we post in the sub forums on our old threads with out causing you any undue work? https://www.extremekites.org/forum/101-west-midlands/ The work Admin's undertake in the background if often overlooked and underrated so once again thank you. Awesome, fantastic work! Mike Ah! I see you have already intergrated the pimped board thread, good stuff!
  5. uater have gone through 5 or so different build I, II & III. Soulfy and Soulfy Pro. Models I, II & III were fitted with a AAA bridal adapter, which chan ges the angle of attack of the canopy and gives different flying Charictoristics, well worth investigating, take a picture of the last 30 cm of the bridals, line end and we will see. Link to how AAA works Good luck

    Thanks

  8. The wind direction and forecast was spot on for Mablethorpe today, so we ventured out... The beech in places was quite soft and in some places quite sticky, which made the first few go's challenging however when we found the compacted areas we started moving. It took a while for us to get dialled in to buggy riding again, especially the turns, we persevered and started putting some respectable runs in. Aching now, but it was well worth it. One of the guys when asked, stated "I don't need sun screen", and later when I told him his legs were red said, "its the sand". *We were able to fry eggs on his arms on the way home* All in all a great day at the beech. Thanks all (** = may include some exaggeration)

  10. Just a quick question Was today's wind a NEE as it wasn't strictly a Easterly? We do not see this direction allot but its a good wind direction for the common. Andy (poor phone camera image quality) Me (Thanks Andy)
  11. Yey, An off the cuff, mid week after work session, just an odd hour and a half. Very good to get out and back into a buggy, thanks for spotting the opportunity Andy.
  12. Just started to look in the achieve and found this... Forgive the lack of music and videography, no excuses, I have lessons to learn. Regarding the 15m: Dave and Ryan are the guys to get in touch with, I will boot up my old phone and see if I have their current mobile numbers.
  13. Just thought I would take the opportunity to boost the thread and become, (sadly) the sites most active thread. Went out last week for a recreational static fly and ached for two days afterwards, my masochistic tendencies must be coming to the fore as I have just been out again..... Need to sort out some insurance and get on the board later this week or next. I believe some clubs insurance policies now limit you to being covered only when flying on their grounds or at named, designated flying areas. I have previously used CLSC and SPKA, to save time does anyone know of any other insurance policies that cover flying anywhere, apart from BKSA? Here's one I haven't researched yet, based in Cov: Peacock Insurance Services Any other suggestions? Cheers
