Last post about this request was in 2011 more than 10 years ago. Where is the best place to fly dual line stunt kites in Brisbane, preferably close to Carindale?

Something about the Cody box kites that has always intrigued me. I think they look awesome. Named after Samuel Cody, who is famous for his work with large kites, some used by the British military in world war one for artillery observation. He may have also been one of the very first 'kite boaters' as he successfully used one of his kites to cross the English channel pulling a boat. I have a smallish 'Spirit of Air' cody that was relatively cheap at around $80AU, but you get what you pay for and I wouldn't really recommend it. It's not the most stable flyer and I had to unpick and re-sew one of the seams that overran into another panel - not great QC. HQ make a bigger…

@nigel, @Chook, @igeighty, @AdrianB plus you other stunt kite experts! I recently took delivery of a Revolution Supersonic from Adrian. It looks a really great kite in excellent condition. I’ve been flying various power kites now for over 25 years but this is my first stunt kite. Today I took it to my local oval for a trial flight. As per usual in Canberra, winds were gusty and not consistent but blowing probably between 5 and 12 knots. I set up the kite but could only manage to launch it a few meters into the air before it either flopped forward floating to the ground or I managed to control it left or right in the wind window but could not turn it and it floated …

I took a punt on a bag of kites out of Sydney sight unseen from a lady I had purchased some "Blade" power kites from from many years ago. She rang me out of the blue when she found this bag when shifting house. (See it always pays to send a postcard of Esperance and a few $5.00 "Scratchies", thanking the seller for her help, when buying from her. She had done the extra yards by getting the blades into a box/packaged and into the post for me. She still had this post card on her fridge with my mobile number on it). This new parcel arrived a few weeks back and the postage and bubble wrap ended up being half the purchase cost. I finally got round to undoing it and…

Hello! If you want to attach a rather big flag to your kite line, what are the best way? 1. Most popular seams to be to attach the top to the kite line and tie a weight to the bottom. Easy and seams to work well, but I don't like the feel to add something (weight) you try to keep as less as possible.. 2. Tie the top and bottom to the kite line. Easy, but the flag tilts alot which doesn't look good. And the bottom t.e. corner is destorted by the wind. 3. As no 2 but with a line between the kite line and the bottom corner of the flag so the flag is level to the ground. Like line laundry. This doesn't work, the l.e. of the flag can not be taut and flappi…

Hi Stunt Kiters I have broken so many P200 lower spreaders on my E3 to the point where I want to get rid of it....and its always the same thing.....the tubing cracks at the centre T on the female spar. Prism acknowledges this fact. Does anyone know, or developed a solution to this frustrating problem ? Your help would be most appreciated Grazie Mille

Ay all So one my tubes has been forced out mid flight and its now looking like a pair of bell bottoms as opposed to stove pipes bit far away from getting a new spar just wondering if anyones had any luck clamping and tapeing them. If so what tape to use? Or should i just fashion some sort of collar to slide onto it? Ill get some photos tomorrow so this gibberish makes sense

Just wanted to share. unlike my other builds these are not from kite tails.. The Orange and Blue one I call the Jester.. Ripstop Nylon P4x/P2x hybrid Frame. The Dark Blue/Royal Blue is called Midnight Royal Taboo and is still in progress. Taboo because the darker blue is Poly , the lighter blue is Nylon.. Hope to finish it up this weekend.

Just a question for the experienced kite builders out there, do you just use a standard sewing machine or do you need an industrial machine. I thought maybe a NPW kite might be the way to go as a starting point. Happy for any tips for a good first kite build. I haven't touched a sewing machine for 20 years.

The leading edge mesh on my workhorse finally fell apart. I let the holes at the fold points get too long - 18cm and 20cm. It has had a hard life over the past 5 years, so I'm not complaining, but it is time to do something about it. Instead of putting the same fibreglass mesh back onto the kite, I decided to experiment with 1.5 oz ripstop instead. Check back in 2022 for a comparison...
