Has anybody thought about dates for this yet? :friends:

26 January falls on a Monday in 2015.

(My work wants to know when I will be taking leave in Dec/Jan)

I would suggest the week leading up to the long weekend. Works better with back to school dates.

Unfortunately 24-25 is the fishing competition, but that just means we're better on the lake than the beach on the weekend.

How bout the two weeks from Saturday 17th ?? I'd like to try and run the whole beach at Narrawong in Vic either before or after and stay down there for 2 or 3 days if anyone's keen.

ps: Who's in for this year?

Nup, not this time, B and I alternate holidays, last year was my pick, this year we are trekking/bushwalking in Tasmania. ( her pick)

So in 2016 you'll be in Yeppoon?

Looks pretty sweet!

Looks like 43km of enticing coastline there to me John.

What are your thoughts for attacking it?

Couple of interesting looking creek/river crossings in that stretch but they appear nicely silted up so shouldn't pose any problems.

And a couple of interesting shadows there too that make a kiters heart sing:

My plan is to start at the Narrawong Caravan Park https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.2584344,141.7074836,3012m/data=!3m1!1e3 and head east 13km to the next river mouth. If it's silted up, great I'll keep going. If not, I'll be happy to have got to there. Last time I was there I was only able to get about 3km east of the park cos of the wind direction - but it looked great - beach was getting wider and dunes were getting higher. If the wind is suitable, I'd try for the first Sat 17th/Sun/Mon then head up to Kingston or if winds not suitable, do it at the end of the Kingston trip. Cape Bridgewater is very pretty too with a really wide 3km of beach although it's very popular so it would need to be a bit quiet. And the Narrawong Caravan Park is really nice too.

That beach looks perpendicular to the one near Kingston; and so would make a good day trip if the winds are parallel to the shore at Larry the Lobster.

Alternatively, I could spend 2 or three nights there instead of Horsham on the first night and kite the intervening days.

 that would mean a Victorian would have to admit that there is something better that is NOT in Victoria

Andy you made it to Kingston how many times? :o

Mark, Cris, Rob and myself went from Kingston down to Narrawong on the last day of the Kingston trip when it was 40 degrees and a howling wind - I think it was a 3 - 4 hour trip, too long for a day trip for me. But we'll keep an eye on the weather leading up to Kingston as see what suits. Need a Southerly for Narrawong as there's a decent curve in the beach from one end to the other.

True, but i have made the effort to get to sandy point several times (and Stockton) :P

Why can't some Victorians make an effort to travel to QLD? :dontknow:

Because every Easter they travel to Adelaide International Kite Festival... :P

I'm on long service leave at the moment so I won't be able to see what the roster situation is until I get back to work in September.

Having just had 3 months off, my chances of getting more than a couple of days off in the school holidays are gonna be very limited but I'll see if the roster gods are still accepting bribes.

Will keep you posted.

Would definitely like to go, it's the logistics of getting everything there and back plane flights or driving and taking it all with me.

:agree:

Yes I know chook makes it every year :o

It's on the list

Let me know, we could form a convoy!

Haha, finally shamed them all in to it :derisive:

2016 ..... Guess we can ride that one for a while before we need to show up.

Had a family conference about it, the idea was acceptable to all. It's only 2000ks so driving seems the way to go.

So guys, I'm back at work and trying to bribe the roster guy into giving me some time off for Kingston.

Have we locked in the dates yet?

I need to know soon or I'll miss the boat

Looks like it's a pretty casual turn-up-when-you-like sort of gig. I'll be heading up somewhere around 14-16 either to Kingston (or Narrawong for a couple days) and probably stay till 26/27/28 depending on conditions.
