Hey, is there anyone still here?? I'm still at Waratah Bay hoping for southwesterlies tomorrow (wed). I'm gonna start at Waratah if I can get back upwind otherwise I'll head over to Sandy Point 11.30ish. And if the wind is still straight down the beach I'm coming home! Direction didn't change much at all today. Evil gusty westerly. Fingers crossed for one more time......

Keep the cam going John for us poor buggers at work. :D

Fingers crossed for you too John. The weather forecasts are looking good. Supposed to be 15 to 20 knots SW around 2pm. Don't forget the video!

us newbies Easy shane and i think damien (kiwibug?????) and i had this playground to ourselves as the big buggied more experienced people decided to stay on the flats .... until they realised that we had been there a while and came over for a play before the weather turned for thew worse again and i went home .... :good::drinks::clapping:

Sometimes its a good thing to have limited experience and to go check something out for yourself rather than rely on past experience.

The "old hands" had checked out the dunes many times on past visits to Sandy Point and 9 times out of 10 found them to be unbuggyable.

Because we didn't know that at the time, we went for a butchers and discovered the elements had worked magic and turned the dunes into a skate park covered with a 1cm crust of near concrete hard sand! So the newbs had Disney on Wheels to ourselves for around 2 hours before the old hands wondered why we hadn't returned to the parking lot and came looking for us. 30 minutes later the heavens opened and our many many wheel tracks were erased as we all scuttled for safety.

For me that was the highlight of the weekend. Ever since the first time I saw those dunes I've dreamed of buggying in there and finally got my wish.

Sandy Point Rocks!!

Fantastic weekend. Photos will be up in a couple of days when i get home, absolutely stuffed right now.

Highlight of the weekend? It has to have been witnessing the ultimate kiteface first hand. :D

Awesome Matt!! LOL's :D:D:D

I'll be in touch soon to work something out with you about getting copies of the buggy shots you showed me.

To Joel and the XK crew that support him - THANKS!

Awesome everything, from the greeting at 3.30am Saturday, to the accomodation, catering, and evening hospitality. I just written to a couple of hundred people and told them to get their bums to this event!!

Big thanks to JD too for letting me come with him at late notice.

It was great to put names to all the forum identities too.

Talking of pictures, did anyone get any snaps of Joel's new stickers for the EK van??

To all that wern't there, the EK van got pimped by a magic fairy Sunday night.

On a more serious note:

A big thanks to all in the EK team for putting on another great event for us kiters. :good:

While the weather didn't play ball, I'm sure we all had a good time. :drinks:

Thanks EK. :ok:

A very big Thank you to Joel, Mel, Vicky and everyone else that organized a great event for the weekend. :clapping:

We had a great time even if the weather didn't always want to cooperate as much as it could have.

It was great to see some new faces there as well as the familiar ones. Craig's talk about his Sahara buggy trip was a highlight of the weekend and I think inspired some others to think about adventure buggying as well.

Well another one done and dusted so to speak......

A well deserved thank you to all the XK team that put in so much hard work to make this event one to remember, time and time again. THANK YOU

It was good to see some new faces once again, and to catch up with the old ones as well.

A special thank you to the Crazy electricuted South African Kiwi, who made us laugh on Monday, showing his determination to buggy on the main beach, despite the torrential rain and lightning, and for sharing the experience of the trip accross the Sahara. Thanks Craig.

A very good time was had by all, despite the efforts of mother nature.

Thanks, from the Duke Family.

P.S. see you all at Speed Week.

A big thanks to all the EK crew who made this happen. And to Craig for a very entertaining talk on Monday night.

Hung around until Wednesday and was greeted by 10 - 25 knots (depending on how close to the rain clouds I got!) straight on-shore. Had an excellent run down to Waratah Bay and back up to the point on a nearly deserted beach. managaed a new pb of 64.4kph when it got a tad gusty at the point. Was sorta just hangin on at that point  Here's some pics. video soon.
