jhn.holgate Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 I'm heading over to Lake Lefroy for the regatta, on the way I'm planning on stopping in at Fowlers Bay to explore the huge dunes and hopefully get a run in the buggy. If there's no wind, maybe a whale spotting cruise if the whale's are still there. I plan on arriving late on the 19th Sept and spend the following Sunday and MOnday there. Any South Australians (or WA's) who would like to come and join me are most welcome. After the Lake Lefroy regatta, I'm thinking of spending a few days around Esperance which would probably be Sept 29, 30 Oct 1 & 2. Chook promises we'll see beer drinking kangaroos lounging on the beaches there. I know there's a wonderful beach at Cape LeGrande and I believe there's some dunes been mentioned too. Might have @Chook & @DJ_Sylk available for some of those dates? Or if you know somewhere or something in that general area that is a must do/see, let me know. Mez 1 Quote
gum-nuts Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 Gutted I can't make it down to Esperance after the Lefroy regatta. Quote
Chook Posted September 11, 2015 Report Posted September 11, 2015 We lost count on the number of whales we saw John. Well over a 100 or so. They started just before the Head of the Bight (just west of Fowlers bay) and were right through to Esperance. gum-nuts, Mez and jhn.holgate 3 Quote
jhn.holgate Posted September 11, 2015 Author Report Posted September 11, 2015 Nice! There's whale tours from Fowlers Bay - that'll be a nice option if there's no wind or the dunes are too soft. Mez 1 Quote

She's quite close to shore isn't she? Would have been marvellous when she breeched Quote
Chook Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 A lot of Whales with calves seem to have 3 or 4 dolphins round them as nurse maids. Or that's what it seems like. Matrons of honour anyway. Yes it pretty special to spot them. They do joy flights from Nullarbor Roadhouse as well. It's just an extended circuit and your out over the cliffs. Quote
