BobM Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 Consider it done, I carry a spare rope. Having helped JD onto and off from beaches in NSW, Here is the story: His buggies are WIDE - there are a couple of beaches with council-built walkways that are only 1800mm wide; the only way to get these buggies to the beach is to lift them up high enough to clear the handrails on either side of the walkway. Not knowing what the beach access at Sandy Point is like, he was just pointing out that assistance would be appreciated. Have a great few days BobM Quote

SoutherlyBuster Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Big and Little Southerly Buster only stayed for the one day (Saturday). Wind was a bit light but we still had some good runs. Sunny weather from early morning till 4pm when we stoped kiting. Sorry pics no pics from me, having too good a time. Jason from Briskites had a head cam on so that should be interesting. Broke a personal best on my NASA 8m^2 kite when every one else gave up on the wind, 29.6 km/hr. Then they realised hmm we had better get our kites out as well. A whole bunch of us went for a blast down the beach. I think on the way down Zach was a bit worried he might not get back on the slow tack back as he was stopping and starting to head back, but I said come let's keep on going some more. Well you guessed it the wind drop some more and we decided we had better had back. Zach has some trouble with his 3m Flow not quite enough size and then the horse flies started to bite. 10 minutes later the wind picked up and away we were. Finally got to see JD's massive, did I say MASSIVE dominator. This buggy is a piece of art work, really. The workman ship is superb. At 4pm we called it quits, the tide was up and the wind had dropped. Jason (Koma) said he would give the lagoon a burl. On the way home the lightening show began some where about 5:30pm. Then 6pm the rain came down heavy. Little rivers formed in paddocks which soon spilled over onto the road we were driving on. Unfortunately some one took one of the bends too quickly (not us, not any of the EKers), spun the car round, clipped the embankment, tore off the bumper bar, tore off a wheel and left a whole lot of debry on the road. The car ended up 0.5 m shorter. Driver was OK, police soon followed. We were the third car behind the accident scene. Any way we arrived home safely and almost ate the fridge bare, had quite an appetite from all the kiting. For the rest of the kiters that stayed on, hope you have a good time. Regards, Norman and Zacahry. Quote

imjimbo Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Firstly ... id like to say what a top weekend.... many thanks to joel and the crew for a fantastic show . to the kite shop boys Jason , steve, gosham thanks a million for letting me chew your ear and giving great advice tips and pointers . a very special thanks to jdhot! your bugs are awesome thanks for letting me have a steer i will allways remember such a pleasent ride solid fast and in a leauge of there own... Chris .. thanks for the ideas, information and letting me fly the montana what a nice kite ... i want a depower now... To every one that was there thanks and ssorry for slowing you down on the mud flat.. what a weekend i thouroughly enjoyed my self had a smile from ear to ear even on the 6 trips to and from @ 150kms each way .... next year i will stay for sure.. im pretty sure i spoke to all of you at some stage over the weekend i extracted so much info out of you all and my brain is now in overload with it and ideas for the future... today the wind wasnt in a great direction for the beach and the flats so a few of us newbies did the trudge thru the soft sand to the dunes that are usually soft... because of the rain it the sand was hard and compact and i had the best time hurtling thru the dunes flying over around the dunes, what a wicked playground. us newbies Easy shane and i think damien (kiwibug?????) and i had this playground to ourselves as the big buggied more experienced people decided to stay on the flats .... until they realised that we had been there a while and came over for a play before the weather turned for thew worse again and i went home .... thanks all again jimbo (ewen) ps if any one has any photos and is willing to send them to me (im prepared to go thru them to find my self and easy ) would be muchly appreciated .... (i was the "l" plater) Quote

I'm gonna start at Waratah if I can get back upwind otherwise I'll head over to Sandy Point 11.30ish. And if the wind is still straight down the beach I'm coming home! Direction didn't change much at all today. Evil gusty westerly. Fingers crossed for one more time...... Quote
