Keep this kite if I were you. I'll help you convert it into a mixer with a depower bridle setup even!! I flew mine over the weekend in gusty 16-19 knots and I couldn't believe the lift and hang time I had. This kite is a dream...

Why not put the plan for your modified bridle on this forum? I'm sure there are quite a few members who'd be interested to see how you tamed the "killer" kite

Believe me I had it all filmed and ready to upload, when my HDD crashed (cheap Seagate rubbish), and I lost my post of glory. ;)

I'll do another one asap, as winds here are picking up again and the Waterfoil always gets me out there when it's too gusty/punchy for others without a foil kite.

Maybe I'm over simplifying things but why not try low tech. Most kite manufacturers do. Sketch the kite and bridle, Number the various elements and tabulate the lengths. Take a picture and upload using the same device you used to reply to this post. Simple no? :agree:

True. Will do... I need to know for myself anyway to keep it all maintained properly. I've adjusted the B & C line to keep the middle of the kite more inflated, and it's slowed it down a little which is good since it tended to loop/spin at a touch of the steering lines. I'll put her up this week and start drawing!

Yeah yeah i know... I run two businesses, work full time, and have kids to look after, and even after work i have to cook too, and do kite repairs... so to put it mildly... drawing lines like a teenager doing a school assigenment is not a priority of mine. But it is recorded in the helpdesk system i have. So... yeah ill get to it.

OK. I am making progress here. I've made a line plan but I stupidly measure one set of lines and thought they were all the same from there. No, each line has different lengths. So more time to measure them needed (not years I can assure you !!).

Any tips on how to quickly measure lines with a measuring tape? I am just simply measuring one section, hold the tape and line together and stretch out more tape, and repeat... is that ok?

Thanks

When measuring and making bridles, I would use a long piece of timber with brad tacks in it.

one tack in the end of the piece, hook the bridle onto it at the kite. Stretch the bridle out along the length, apply another tack and measure. this way you are measuring the stretched length and not the slack length.

you can the use Texta to mark the measurements and will then have a template.

others may have other ideas.

Hey thanks @Olof Palmolja for the line plan. I just can't be stuffed measuring mine, so I am just going to take pics. I never measured my lines when I split them into a mixer system, and with a lot of tweaking and seeing myself getting dragged over to the trees a few times, I've managed to stabalise the kite, but a sudden pull of the bar and it will still spin out of control (!!)... mine's the purple 5.6m size. Anyway... I guess now that competition has brought me out of the woodwork, I'll have to commit or else ... yikes.
