I've just been speaking to the little fella' at the campsite, it's all ready to receive us. C'mon ya' big girl's blouses - sod the cold, let's camp!! Big fire + big pi$$ed, happy days.
garykf Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Mate, my bags are packed already, kites are fixed and DRY. Last one on the beach makes the brews. John D: any phots from the weekend mate??
PaulLaurie Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 We'll be there, heading down Friday afternoon. Which bit of the site would you recommend setting up in Nolan?
garykf Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 anyone up for a late afternoon session at Ainsdale tomorrow. Wind looks like it might hit double figures and it will be a nice refresher before the meeting.
Kite Killa Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Planning on venturing down to BRS this weekend seeing as tho its the last chance to dance before the ban kicks in. Never been before, just wanted to double check you just need insurance to fly there and don't need a permit. Also, where's the best place to camp??? Just checked the wind, but its looking a tad on the timid side

Dunno about the best place to camp, but there should be a few of us camping >>>here. It's about 20mins from the beach, but it's damn purty.

Match Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Gary, I'll be over from 4ish tomorrow. Maybe coming at weekend with my cousin just to camp, wind looks ****e so we'll be up in the hills.
nolan Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Maybe coming at weekend with my cousin just to camp, wind looks ****e so we'll be up in the hills. Good plan, mate. You and your cousin "going camp". "Up the hills" is a new one on me, I'm so out of touch with this new yoof-speak We'd join you on the peaks, but my knee is still well-and-truly busted. I'd recommend a trip to Llyn Ogwen and the Devil's Kitchen if you've not done it before. From there it's a great walk up Y Garn or the Glyders.
popeyethewelder Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 you guys are more than welcome in our neck of the woods (Mablethorpe) this weekend being an easterly....longer 1.8 miles but narrower than Ainsdale
PaulLaurie Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Maybe coming at weekend with my cousin just to camp, wind looks ****e so we'll be up in the hills. Yeah we're still going, plenty to do if wind is duff. Might try Snowdon again, last time we gave up when the wind topped 60 at 3/4 way up and the rain hurt There's a great slab at Little Tryffn (sp?) near the camp site Matt if you got any beginner climbers wanting a go, I might take gear and ropes but my harness don't fit no more on account of being a couple of stone heavier than last time I used it

"Up the hills" is a new one on me, I'm so out of touch with this new yoof-speak Thought that was the way in Runcorn... aren't some people their own cousin? Gary, XC is saying the wind is between 1 and 0 mph at the moment, gonna give the beach a miss. See you at the pub.

Matt/Gary, I can't make it tonight. Can you pass on my apologies to the committee/meeting and tell them I still wish to be involved etc. Have fun Paul
wurzel Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 with the week ahead looking very south easterly, thought i'd just remind ya'll about middleton..remember the wet ,nasty condition it was in ..was up there last week and it was huge, very dry and doable in every wind direction:cool: ..promises to be the same from monday on:)
brassneck Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 I remember going there last year... huuuge sands , but only a tiny patch of dry near the cafe / rubbish (sorry couldnt resist, it was a pretty scruffy beach when I called).... only enough to static fly. Cant remember exactly how to get there, seem to rememeber it was down some country lane? Any chance of a road name to stick into the sat nav so I can put it on the list of 'must pay it a visit over the summer'..... with the week ahead looking very south easterly, thought i'd just remind ya'll about middleton..remember the wet ,nasty condition it was in ..was up there last week and it was huge, very dry and doable in every wind direction:cool: ..promises to be the same from monday on:)
SandMonster Posted March 23, 2007 Author Report Posted March 23, 2007 This is it on multimap if that helps.. http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=54.0056&lon=-2.9017&scale=25000&icon=x If it has been dry for a day or so its great, if you get higher than expected tides, or if it rains more than just a light shower it will be wet & muddy
brassneck Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 thats the one fellas.. cheers. just out of interest... stick it in on microsoft maps (http://maps.live.com) zoom in on the bit where you park the car, next to the cafe. whats that I see... 3 hangliders and a small plane on the beach and some rather weird looking tracks in the sand..... bizzare ,I tell you it is.
garykf Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Harlech end of the beach at BRS looking good for sunday:) If we go round the corner wind should be cross shore......nice:)
