As Sandmonster put it; "New decade, new thread".........and then there's - new website. Kicking off an Ainsdale beach thread. Hoping it'll get used as much as the old one. A few bits of maybe useful stuff; Sefton Councils regs about kiting on the beach; https://www.sefton.gov.uk/around-sefton/coast-countryside/kite-zone-permit.aspx One thing to note on that link - for the last few years the Summer map parking isn't happening it's just the Winter zone map to pay attention to throughout the year. From March till the end of September it's £8 to park on the beach (cash only as of September 2020) - You can park free at the Rangers hut (turn left jus…

Hi all, I'm from the east coast where Fraisthorpe is my local beach for land boarding. It's very weather dependant for usability, like many other places, so i'd like to put a list together of all beaches and open grassland areas where kiting is permitted in the north of england and midlands. Is there a list of spots already out there? If not, can you tell me the places you know and any useful information like where to park and fees (if any), if membership is needed, or anything else of use. If there's not one out there i may try and find time to build a website or just use google maps to list them with some info for each one. Thanks Chris

New decade, new thread. Kitezone permit application form, rules and contact phone no. e-mail etc can all be found here: http://www.sefton.gov.uk/pdf/KiteZone%20Permit%20FORMS%20oct%2009.pdf Can regulars please note the new rule that prohibits launching or landing within 100m of the car park - this has been introduced because of accidents at other beaches involving kites & vehicles. Lets hope we get some warm windy weather soon Zone Map: http://www.sefton.gov.uk/pdf/KiteZone%20Maps.pdf

I received a letter from police today saying i have been reported for anti-social behavior on ainsdale beach. The letter says. The incident reported related to causing nuisance by dangerous driving/high speed. The letter said if i would like any further information about the incident to ring the number on the letter which i did as i know i do not speed down the beach. I spoke to the Sergeant named on the letter and was told not to worry about it as they have been getting alot of complaints from other people who have received letters like this. He said they are looking to change the way these letters are sent out because it is the rangers on the beach that report to them …

The club was formed in 1989 as a result of local demand. It is affiliated to The British Federation of Sand and Land Yacht Clubs (BFSLYC, or 'The Fed') which arranges our insurance, officiates at a series of national regattas and selects the British team for european/world competition. The club sails on the East Hoylake Bank, a vast sailing site off the coast of Hoylake on the Wirral, which is one of the best sites in the country Founded originally by a group of local sand yachters, the club welcomed parakarters (class 8, kite-buggies) into its membership, and all members share the facilities at the club headquarters and the sandbanks at Hoylake, Wirral For more infor…

Hi, I have returned to Liverpool after spending 5 years down in Oxford working. Currently a kitesurfing member at the CBK on Hayling Island. I live in Liverpool and am hoping to find some buddies to meet down at the beach. I have quite a lot of spare time so am hoping to get out as much as possible. I don't mind giving lifts as it will help to split fuel costs. I am an experienced ex instructor and have kited for about 10 years in various formats! I am happy to kite on the Wirrel (West Kirby to Leasowe), up to Blackpool (Ainsdale and St Annes included). For those special days i really don't mind traveling north of Blackpool or all the way to Anglesey! Give me …

My local club at wirral (wsyc) has a pretty god aweful web site with little or no current information on it. Can anyone point me to an up to date schedule of local events (north west) particularly here at Hoylake. I seem to be missing everything!!! Hi guys, posted this in the Landboard section but thought I'd try here too. I'm at the Carnatic accommodation site (Mossley Hill/Aigburth) until summer then around Smithdown/Wavertree area next academic year and am desperate for a decent flying spot nearby if anyone knows of one? Also, if not, is there a club or anything around Liverpool or even the Wirral with decent landboarding? I'm a two minute walk from a station then that seems to go to most places so can travel pretty easily if there is. Cheers in advance!

Had an email from Andrew Wormleighton (club chairman). Reads as pretty urgent so here it is - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since the BKSA got NGB status and the sport got recognition the BKSA need to make sure all Affiliated clubs have clear communication channels. They require clubs to have both a website with contact details and email (we used to have one but the person running it left the area) and a Facebook page. Without these we will lose Affiliation. We also need committee members to represent the Kitesurfers at meetings like the Beach Users Consultancy group (usually held at the Town…

Hi cyclingispure writing, My first post on Kitecrowd, live and fly in Farnborough, Hampshire. On the SEKA site I go by the name, famousbear. So, next weekend I'll be at BLS Friday to Sunday, tides are good with low being around the noon to 1pm time and the high tide below 8m so standing water not so much an issue. Is anyone else planning to be there over those 3 days, would be fun to hook up with some folks :-) Long range forecast on XC is for brisk winds from south/south east :-) Last time I was at BLS was late September where my mate Paul and I met some good company who were happy to chat and share/exchange equipment for the day. Sorry cant remember names, but one c…
