nolan Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 BRS - Black Rock Sands in Porthmadog. I'm afraid that Formby is a no-go zone. The council have given us a big chunk of beach at Ainsdale, the rest of the coastline is for everyone else.
carltb Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 sw is still flyable. as long as it doesnt start with E then you're ok
Snowman Taff Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 sw is still flyable. as long as it doesnt start with E then you're ok NW facing beach with a SW wind...how much is flyable and for how long ?
popeyethewelder Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 sw is still flyable. as long as it doesnt start with E then you're okThanks chaps, thats what I was told at the begining......a few are geting the jitters:D Ainsdale or bust for me lol
big-jon Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 SW is ok - you just come back along the beach faster than going down it !! It is a low tide day so you will be able to play all day really, if the wind is good enough (which it is at the mo) we will be able to chase the surfers up and down the lagoons, which is top fun !! If you are up for an early start you may be able to get out onto the third or even fourth sandbank which are really hard and flat and you can run for nearly the whole 3km stretch that we can use. I am planning on trying to get there for about 10ish so I will be able to show you all the best bits
popeyethewelder Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Brilliant Jon, thanks for reasuring me, we will be there a bit earlier than that.. Carl

kinny Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 fair enough, cheers ill aim for the sea then head north!
carltb Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 direction from preston are look out for a CK TILING van and follow that!! no seriously come off the m55 at broughton. turn right onto the a6 heading towards the town centre(about 3-4miles), if you see any signs for train station follow them. at train station drive down the hill and follow signs for southport. you will go through penworthham, hutton , tarlton. at tarlton follow a565 (duel carriage way) until you come to the third round about, take your second exit onto coastal road and follow that for about 4-5miles. when you get to the roundabout with pontins turn right and follow the road to the beach entrance. drive onto the beach, turn left and enjoy!
