Bones Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 Just got back. There was not much wind early. Rob and I struggled to keep kites up, Jo however was much more successful with a 2m Flow. How does that work? The wind picked up steadily, until I got overpowered in the gusts with the 4.4m Reactor. Had a little bit of fun chasing my buggy a couple of times after I got lofted. Was good to meet Rob, and give him a taste of our playground. Quote
tinman Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 Yep today was great. I got some good runs in. Best runs I have done to date. Considering I have only taken the buggy out a hand full of times. I stayed on for a bit after everybody left. I went back and put my helmet on after you left Hamish! I did go fast! And just beat the rain getting back to the car. Rod Quote
roblukin Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 that surface was a bit unnerving at times, i was scared to let the buggy run... lets hope there's no rain tomorow, whats the surface like when its a bit wet? ill try and be there for 7:30, if i dont make it ill wait for bones thanks bones for helping me today Quote

gum-nuts Posted November 11, 2012 Author Report Posted November 11, 2012 Had a great morning in the buggy today, I did just under 50kms with a top speed of 57.7kph with the 5m Flow. Also did an unintentional 360 and got up on two wheels! I will try and get the video edited... I got to have a go in Bones' S2, thanks mate, now guess what I really want? And Rob, it was great to meet you, you are an inspiration and your passion for buggying is infectious. If you are ever down this way again would love to meet up again. Here's to next weekend... Quote
tinman Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 I didn't make it. Good to hear you had a good day! Great to meet you aswell Rob. Hope the surface was a bit nicer today! Rod Quote

Alfa75 Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Sunday was awesome, was great to see so many kites at the lake..my new 9inch wheels really rock so much more stability, had some really fast runs, unfortunately i had not switched on the gps. Looks like a similar forecast for Sunday..cant wait.. To Rob, all i can say is RESPECT!! Quote
Bones Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 I clocked 53km/h on my bicycle yesterday, which is faster than I managed in the buggy all weekend. Less wind for that run as well. Quote
roblukin Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 thanks guys, sunday was great! seeya again if im ever back this way.. Quote

I'll be there as usual - I just hope Bones is going to bring my S2 to play in again ,cheers mate for the ride last weekend I did appreciate it - my wife wasn't so happy as I have been going on about a new buggy all week Quote
Bones Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 Conditions are perfect on Langley park RIGHT NOW!! Within the hour it will probably be covered in the pretend to be getting fit army. Quote
tinman Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 can't make it on the weekend so I've taken Monday off! Hopefully it will be windy enough. Anybody up for Monday? Rod Quote
gum-nuts Posted November 16, 2012 Author Report Posted November 16, 2012 can't make it on the weekend so I've taken Monday off! Hopefully it will be windy enough. Anybody up for Monday? Rod The forecast for Monday doesn't look to bad, especially late morning, early arvo (but not as good as Sunday! ) but unfortunatley I am stuck at work Quote
Bones Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 I am tied up Sunday midday, don't think I have time in the morning. May head down in the afternoon/evening. Wind looks rubbish on Saturday. Still making up for taking a holiday, so Monday isn't looking promising. Quote
Alfa75 Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 I gotta work monday and Sunday arvo is family time so ill be there 2mrw the usual time.. 6.30 - 7.00 Quote

gum-nuts Posted November 19, 2012 Author Report Posted November 19, 2012 The wind was a bit iffy yesterday morning - started with a 3m, then went up to the 5m and back to 3m, but it was pretty gusty so would be powered up and scary one minute and floating to the ground the next. Not great conditions for a fixed bridle kite and I was getting pretty frustrated. I was outnumbered by the kite boarders who seemed to be shredding with their de-powers Waiting for some decent easterlies so I can use the full length of the lake - only one more weekend left before we have to share with the model aircraft club in the mornings and the land yachts in the arvo. Hoping we get some decent rain to keep the cars off a bit longer! Quote
gum-nuts Posted November 19, 2012 Author Report Posted November 19, 2012 Looks like Alfa75 and me have screwed the wind for Sunday - new kite curse But the BOM is looking better than Willyweather -onya BOM Quote
Bones Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 Looks like Alfa75 and me have screwed the wind for Sunday - new kite curse But the BOM is looking better than Willyweather -onya BOM Do I sense a reactor race in the future. Small bugs only. Quote

Hopefully my wife doesnt get mad if i set the alarm to 4am.. Quote
gum-nuts Posted November 22, 2012 Author Report Posted November 22, 2012 Do I sense a reactor race in the future. Small bugs only. Was going to be a Reactor2 4.4m, but heard from kitepower that they don't have any in stock! And unfortunately I have had to accept an upgrade to a 4m Ozone Method - for the same price Quote
jhn.holgate Posted November 22, 2012 Report Posted November 22, 2012 A 4m Method an 'upgrade' from a 4.4m Reactor....???? I think NOT. Hey, don't get me wrong. I love my Methods, but they need a lot more wind per size than a Reactor does. Check out the Speed Week 2011 video...I'm on a 4m Method in about 13-14 knots or so and Rob Lukin comes blitzing past me with a 4.4m Reactor. (I think that's what it was....) Mind you, in 18 knots, the Method is still going gangbusters and the Reactor may be somewhat of a handful. The wind range for me on the 4m Method is 14 knots up to around 22 or so. Top speed is hard to say...I managed a couple of 67kph with the 4m Method and a 71kph with the 5m. From the little time I had with the 4.4m Reactor, I'd say the Method is a lot easier to fly and tamer but it just needs more wind to do what a reactor will. Don't let BGKD hear anyone say that a Method is an 'upgrade'...he'll have a fit Quote
Bones Posted November 22, 2012 Report Posted November 22, 2012 Um, yeah. You probably want a 5m Method to fill the slot you are looking at. Compared to what the 4.4 Reactor II is going for elsewhere, 4m Method is $20 cheaper, 5m Method is $39 more expensive. Quote
