Great vids, pics and memories you have all posted .... :drinks: .... onyas...

Definitely an event that I'm glad I made it to... ....

The beach, the pan and the people all went into making this one of the best I have been lucky enough to attend.

After a drive from Canberra through Geelong to avoid flooded areas, along the Great Ocean Road at sundown.. past Bells Beach and the Apostles then crossing the Vic/Sa border I had a couple of hours sleep at a truck stop. Woke up, drove another 100ks then I arrived at Kingston. I was too early for checking in at the caravan park so I went to the beach to see who was about..

Said G'day to old faces and new then unloaded my gear before going back to town to book in... the caravan park, like the town, is spotless ...with a veiw and easy access to the beach which is complete with a swimming platform..great for families.

Even after a few :drinks: I doubt it would be a problem finding the park, as they very nicely fitted a night light in the park next door... :P

I started out on my 4mt Blade IV ...few nice floaty jumps, a few speed runs at 70+ with no end of downwind area, very very nice...

I started having trouble running a straight line so packed up the 4 and broke out my 2.5 Zebra Z1 for a few more runs across the pan forwards, then joined Dukey in some runs backwards at over 40 ...lots of fun.

The surface was smooth and fairly soft being a mix of salt and soil with different moisture levels depending on the time of day....great for fast runs ....and soft landings after a boost.. :D

Swagged it the first night ..... sat around until the mist cleared then hit the beach for runs to the granites and tows back....

huge thanks to Sinbad for the tows and the entertainment on the way, trying to drown Joel etc..

The fireworks, the kites, the friendship and the good times, spent on both beach and pan, made this one event that's very hard to get out of my system....

The sunset on the last night I spent at the van park, that went on and on, was a very nice way to end it all.

I'm lucky enough to be going back to SA in March for the festival in Adelaide... ..I think the same mad buggas have their fingers in the organising pie so it should be huge if Kingston was anything to go by. :dance3::dance4::dance:

Fantastic slide show Norman , great to see father /son time together. Man o man what a spot great beach and a clay pan as well .

Andy also great pics and story . Again what a spot for buggying and kiting . I am assuming those seaweed balls are caused by the wind which is strange because i have never seen them before .

Sorry just saw Joels pics well done as well :D

Just gone back through this thread and seen all the pics and videos , :D:D:D:D:D

Kingstone is on my bucket list . What a great part of the world ,all you need are some dunes like Stockton and that place is buggy heaven .

Fantastic videos Mick and John , loved the big ramp you call the granites. Oh and the seal was cute ....we don't get em up here .

Talking about dunes, a fellow at work who is a 4WD enthusiest, said there are some dunes a bit further around Robe way, so perhaps some thing for the buggies then? There is also a long narrow lake there and the wind was blowin like crazy there when we drove to Kingston and thought that would be interesting for kite surfing.

Now that I'm back from Yeppoon, its time to start thinking about next year's Kingston Cruise meet. :good: (I need to organise some rosters, both work and my other hobby).

Does anyone have some ideas - my thoughts are to travel Sat/Sun, be there Mon-Fri, and travel back Sat/Sun.

My wife wants to come along and she wants to know how far away it is from Adelaide (and wineries).

Any info, however sketchy, would be much appreciated

Mate, I haven't stopped thinking about next years Kingston meet. I made a list before I left the beach....bigger tent, better ice box, kettle, rake to smooth out camp site etc etc. I would love to spend a couple weeks down there and check out Robe and Cape Jaffa. Maybe look for those Dunes Southerly was talking about. I"m chomping.....

You're not the only one John, I've made one of your pics of me cruising the beach my screen background. A bigger tent to get some respite from the wind when cooking would be a good idea. A rake??? Good idea but, wait there's more, the kitchen sink .... I guess you have more room in your truck.

Roof racks, Norman!! With Zack on the roof rack you'll have the WHOLE front seat to fill!

Yes that is on the cards as well, the roof rack that is, will be keeping an eye out on EBay. Yes, then I can bring my surf board, but hang on the surf was not really big enough. My bigger tent will fit, just have to make sure I get some long tent pegs, or go the full hog and bring the huge tent.

Sleeping on the beach, looking out at the ocean.....cruising up and down an almost endless beach every day.......geez, have I had a better holiday than that? :dontknow: 'Twas sensational. And I'm counting down the days......
