koma Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Tuesday and still no pics.... No taunting posts about how good the wind is/was either... what's with that? Quote
bull31 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Just a quick reply, last few days they have done a few downwinders to the granites with buggys, kiteboards and landboards. Good to put faces to names and great bunch of people. Must thank everyone for advice that I ask as we are only learning but can at least see others have so much fun which is probably only going to cost me more money on kites to fill in the gaps. cheers Brenton PS : There Joel got my 5th post . beauty Quote
JKS Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 No taunting posts about how good the wind is/was either... what's with that? And no condescending phone calls from Joel Quote
Luke Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Have been in contact with Andy each day, they have had wind and some good runs. Andy went night freestyling on the salt pan on Monday evening. It has been an excellent turn out according to Andy. Sure there will be some photos and stuff soon enough. Quote
sinbad Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 Well we are back, it was a fun week lots of things happening fire works, sun, cold, rain, fog and fishing. The best part is we had wind everyday and had great fun, was good catching up with everyone again. Here are a few shots from the weekend. Quote

sinbad Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 And no condescending phone calls from Joel Sorry we did not keep in touch, we where having such a good time that we forgot to ring home. Plus we did not want to rub your nose in all the great beach fun I think everybody even got used to the sand after a while, it becomes part of you after a couple of day you can't do with out it, so you just have to take some home with you Roll on next year, Australia day is a thursday so i think we will have it sat, sun, mon, tues, wed and Thursday start booking your holidays now. Mick14 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Its bizarre... the ants at my place love the Kingston sand. I put some stuff down in the back yard and they were crawling all over it within an hour. So I'm just gonna leave it there till the ants take all the sand away! Quote
Mick14 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 One more ripped from video........ Quote
jhn.holgate Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 That was the BEST, guys. Over 300km's of buggying with a couple of magical trips to the granites and back - including this morning (thurs). It was actually a struggle to get down to the granites - a downwinder in 7 and a half knots!!! much better going back. Lots of video to sort through over the next couple of days. Here's a few pics. Cheers to all for a brilliant week. Quote
JKS Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 I have heard rumors about 'who' was the fastest Quote
jhn.holgate Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 After several failed attempts to upload, I finally got a smaller sized file onto youtube. Quote
Luke Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Nice video John! Andy, sweet controlled jumps, should have lent you the 21 for your SA adventure! Quote
FluffyFizzer Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 6.22 minutes of pure bliss! Great video John, I lost myself in it for a while there. Next year it will have to be then! Quote

JKS Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Nothing like a couple of videos to 'clarify' what you missed out on Top stuff guys ... a top looking few days and an AWESOME looking venue Quote
.Joel Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Some photos.... First drive on to Kingston Beach.... Passing camp where everyone had setup.... Not to be outdone, time to setup XKHQ on the beach Woke up in the morning to this thick mist, further down the beach you had visibility of about 25 meters maximum as it was so thick. Heading out of town, you know you're in a good place when they have a board with "Chicken & Gravy Subs." The Lobster, or "the big lobster on your right, go past it to the bridge then turn left it takes you to the beach." I missed it the first time..... the lobster... not the turn Some more kiting... I need to do a "Holgate" and take some more time taking photos of kiting Overall this one was AWSOME meet, by far one of the most enjoyable for me as it was so laid back. It was just amazing leaving your kite sanded, buggy next to the van and going to sleep. Wake up the next day and it's all there and ready for you. One one of the nights they were all kind enough to packup the kites I had out for me as I had dozed off in the van.... any other beach I would of said thanks Watching Devon learn to buggy for the first time was great, watching him on a Depower kite for the first time and get to learn it was excellent. In a short time he was in the buggy, fanging all the way down to the rocks which I think was about 20 or 25 km. I inquired about going all the way to the murray mouth, 160+km, apparently that can be "next year's mission." On the way back Devon's arms were too tired to hold on to the ski ropes as we got towed back, so this was Norman's first time in a buggy, furthermore being towed at 80km/h up the beach and me signalling to terry "faster" and Norman thinking "nnooooo you bastard." We don't hear Norman swear alot, but when he got out he said to the effect of "I have never shit my pants and had so much fun at the same time, it was terrifying. If that's what you guys do in the buggy with kites you're nuts." Zac made it all the way down on his landboard to the rocks as well, an amazing feat. Rob Lukin was just a pack of laughs, smashes himself, ask him if he needs a hand and goes "not this little black duck." Seriously watching him struggle to setup his gear, and then get setup and conquer that hurdle is just fecking inspiring. Andyfly, Rob and I hit the dry lake at night, pitch black no moon. You couldn't see the cars if they were 5m from you. We kited in pitch black, with some glow sticks in the kites and one on each buggy hoping that the nothingness we had seen during the day was still there at night This is one that I can't wait to get back to for next year, and I have a feeling i'll be visiting before then. Thank you to everyone who came along and made this a great trip. All the best to Phil and Annie who are making it over to NABX in LA, and a thanks to Mick14 for being the information vessel that gets us mexicans up over the border for this one. Regards, .Joel Quote
