So @igeighty is currently grounded - He has pulled something in his calf muscle whilst at work on Thursday (hoping its just a pulled tendon and nothing more) And is on a set of crutches for the long weekend.

Each time I visit the XK website I have to log in. Just wondering if this happens to other users of this website that use iPads. I check the 'remember me' radio button on log in, but my iPad doesn't.

Sad news coming out of Esperance today as a young girl (17 years) dies from a shark attack. I know Esperance is a large place, however @Chook being the man of imprint that he is, I hope it it was no-one you knew (although sad as it is that it happened)

Cyclone Debbie looks like she is going to go on a big rampage through Central QLD tomorrow. With a destructive zone around 300-400 km across Debbie is is one of the biggest cyclones QLD has seen for quite a few years.. Good Luck to all those in the path of her fury. I hope you and your families are safe and come out the other side in one piece. After going through Cyclone Marcia 2 years ago, I really feel for anyone that has to go through Cyclone Debbie

Here's one for the lounge.... What's the best paper plane for long distance gliding. I just got a paper plane motorising kit, so am messing around with plane designs. One of my most consistent flyers is based on this one but modded with shorter wing ends that don't fold down. http://www.paperairplanes.co.uk/planecut.php

Things you find on youtube. (well found it through science alert actually) here is my new favourite playlist. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has just uploaded a ton of recently declassified nuclear test films. DOE has already put a lot of footage from the late 40's through to the more recent tests. however this LLNL dump is a great resource.

Lucky Bay crowned Australia’s whitest beach Kent Acott Monday, 13 March 2017 5:25PM Lucky Bay, the isolated beach west of Esperance, claims to be the whitest in Australia ... perhaps the world. And it’s not just a promotional catchphrase — it has been scientifically proved. Twice. According to soil science consultant Noel Schoknecht, the testing was the result of light-hearted boasts over a beer. He said the various State representatives of a national committee on soil and terrain were having a drink one night in 2006 when NSW claimed Hyams was the whitest beach in Australia. “So we decided to test it,” Mr Schoknecht …

Decided to stay in the Sandy point caravan park for the weekend. Close to beach. Walk across the road and your at one of the best buggy beaches in Victoria. Wide hard packed and long real long. Works on a variety of winds because of the inlet and Warah bay. Read the reviews on the park. Not great by the looks of the review. But we tried anyway. Park is old but the new caretakers are really nice and will help with anything. Happy to have dogs in the park. Shower were hot, toilets were clean and serviced, camp kitchen small but usable. If you make to much noise you will get booted. So really good for young families. Good cafe / fish and chip shop next door and small ge…

How many of you can think of something in your workplace that has been done "backwards" since day dot? And it will never change simply because "that's the way we've always done it." So I'm looking at purchasing some new packaging equipment for a new premises. For most people (being right handed especially) it feels more natural to pack the items moving them from right to left. Photos of most standard heat sealers show the setup and layout in this configuration. However, some heat sealers have a cutting blade in them which saves on time and waste. The drawback is, they've put the blade on all of these on the side you want to seal, not the side the polyroll is …

While you guys to the East of us swelter in extreme heat, we are swimming for our lives. We are all safe here in the town. Esperance is now accessible from the north due to the fine conditions earlier today, but will remain isolated from the west for some time. Some areas have had up to 300mm of rain in the last week and it's still raining now. This is the Phillips river. This van got stuck/stalled in floodwaters and was towed to safety only to have the river rise up over it again during the night. Even @roblukin couldn't get this much sand into his car. 2 dead from attempting to cross swollen floodwaters. All roads have a 5 ton…

Hi all, I really hope it's not just me, but I'm struggling to see how I list and sell some spectacular kiting gear on this site. I've searched and can see where, but more importantly I cannot see HOW to list my items. There's no 'create a buy/sell listing' or 'sell' button anywhere! - please advise. Many thanks in advance.

Completely off the topic of kiting we had a Bald Eagle in a tree today about 100m from our house. In the states this is our National Bird and she's a dandy! I suspect these fellas aren't in the great Down Under. What was the coolest thing you've seen in a while? Share a pic here and comment!

I have been itching to walk to the top of the tallest Mountain in the Port Hills, Mt Herbert at 919m. So Zac, Stevie and I started from the eastern flank at 400m above sea level. I took my Bixler Glider along and Zac took his quadie along for filming. Great scenery on the way up and found a potentially good spot for some dynamic soaring, no way the Bixler could do that, but have some planes in the build process that might be able to handle it and have enough wind penetration. Here is the video Zac put together, put the volume on as well, the sound track fits well with the mood of the setting. Regards, Norman.
