I didn't have any problems with the blokarters - they are easy enough to spot & they do seem to like to go in straight lines - might even ask about having a little go one day - I wonder if you can get air in one of them things...?;).

I also noticed that the group with all the kids had a trailer with a 'Sefton Youth Service' logo on the side, so I guess they have arranged with the council to have a session on the beach. Maybe we need to set up a session for the kids to have a go at kiting?

oh yeah i forgot, do they have permission to set up a race course. as everytime ive seen them on the beach they have had thier flags out and have been racing a course.

Wrote this as a PM before, didn't want to jump on the bandwagon as I don't know the facts. Though as people have had there say though I may drop a post :) has been slightly edited.

Am I right in thinking blokart users require insurance and membership to use the beach? If it's one or two people then surely making a complaint to the office which deals with the members would be enough. Either they would get the hint [and word would spread between them] or they would eventually be banned for their irresponsible/unsafe behavior.

Surely the exact same thing would happen if it was one of the kiters? Complaints lead to warnings and eventually banning. I've never seen a blokart before yesterday so I really don't know, but I'm sure posting the email adress/phone number and name of whoever deals with complaints in ainsdale on the ainsdale thread would sort the problem out in time. Short of setting there property on fire theres no other option :p Hmm, is there a blokart forum...?

I know I'd want someone to tell me if my actions were putting others, or the sport/use of the beach in danger. That could quite possibly be the case as I currently can't get my board rolling...

Anyway as I said it [currently] dosen't involve me, and I don't know the facts.

Good luck.

I'm sure just chatting to the blowcart users will sort any mis-understaning about rules of beach/sailing etc. in the first place. I've spoken to them a few times and the people I spoke to where friendly enough. I fancy a go too! They do need insurance permits like us but as Mike said a group of them are youngsters with Sefton Services so they may not be the best sailors etc.

Looks like mondays the first good day for a while. 16-20 WNW on from 10am to 10pm. Low tide at 1.39 pm. Rain only early morning, clear skies in evening. If Windguru is to be trusted

Thankfully my insurance is through. I can get a lift home but sadly not a lift there....

Anyone gonna try and make it?

Q ~ Dying to try his Venom

EDIT: Or not... :S either I was looking at a cached page or they changed their prediction. Sorry for getting hopes up :S

EDIT EDIT: after checking XC and netweather they agree with the forcast I posted before, possibly with a little less wind. Thanks SM

Hello all, not been here for ages

Something for Mike and John to aspire to with their VW's

Just had a superb weekend at Santa Pod. All sorts of dragsters, top fuel, top methanol, funny cars, bikes etc. The bloke in the transporter came second in his class - thrashing the pants off all sorts of GTI's, VR32's and Beetle's.

Looks like easterlies all weekend - tho the tides are ok for BLS/heysham etc. ;)

Was at Williamson Park in Lancaster on Sunday and there are some fantastic views over Middleton sands etc. from the Ashton Memorial :) Well worth a visit and a wander around on a sunny day :)

Did a 12 mile yomp up in the lakes yesterday - Helvellyn, Dollywagon, Grisedale, Fairfield, St.Sunday Cragg.

Despite today's pain, it was a belter of a day, fantastic stuff :) :) :) .

The view of striding edge as we leave Helvellyn, onwards towards Nethermost Pike.

The wind must have been 50+ on the top. I was thinking of packing a wee kite, having a daft idea to be the first to fly one on all of the Wainwrights - but yesterday wasn't the day to start :D .

Looks like a great sunny weekend - this is a great (but hard) route if you're hunting for a decent stretch.

Sympathise Bobby, I had to take a day off work to recover from the 21 miler Me, Matt & Rob walked a couple of weeks ago. I was in agony for days. Nice pain though :)

Was that good? Gutted to have missed it, was looking forward it as well :(

Nice pics, most adventurous trek I've ever done is the Great Orm in Llandudno :p

I'm gonna be at the beach on tuesday afternoon, gonna try and get rolling on my board with that light westerly. As the wind's not howling I'm guessing there won't be alot of kiters there, which means less people to crash into :p

J

EDIT: as Jill isn't in to sort out my permit, and I didn't get in touch sooner, I wouldn't be able to board. So I won't be there on tuesday

EDIT EDIT: Gonna try sunday late afternoon IF the prediction holds. I would really appreciate a lift if anyone is coming from manchester way, any day in fact. Thanks in advance.

Just got back from a week long kiting adventure in South Devon. With the car fully loaded with kiting gear, (much to the annoyance of my long suffering missus), I felt sure this was going to be an epic.

Sadly, there wasnt a knats fart all week :(

Cant complain though, weather was great and I did get to 'recky' some spots for future use. Exmouth seems like a good one - weird little bay of flat water that doesnt get deeper than about three foot at any point.

It certainly is teasing, keeps changing from 14 up to 22. Half tempted to drive to Exmouth which is forecast 22 onshore at the seafront. It may be 4 hours, but I NEED WIND!!!!!!
