brassneck Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 For any oldie aero enthusiasts out there, the Vulcan has got the go ahead to fly at the airshow today hope weather don't spoil it! http://www.tvoc.co.uk/ see latest news top right. Was cancelled today, now saying will fly tomorrow (Sunday) fantastic sight, remember 'em flying over when I was younger, probably some of the last flights there was on the way to anglesey. Off to N.Wales tomorrow, so may catch a glimpse from there.
Bobby Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Orrible weather but a cool airshow . http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/redcopy.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/red3.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/red4.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/blue2copy.jpg Jets may be clever but props are cool. http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/hand.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/blue.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/red2copy.jpg ...and frequented 3 pubs in 3 hours Thought these Northerlie winds would be ******* freezin but it was so warm out there today and looking so good for a Sunday session. Teen onshores a late afternoon HT and a few beers - what could be better - (sunny skies would be cool but it looks like we aint gonna get that).
Bobby Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Top session . OK it was only blowin 15ish but with the airshow guys strutting their stuff that was a pretty surreal session . Skimming through a goon, as I turned this jet banked and honest dudes it felt sooooooo close to my big red instinct - my chest was vibrating from the sound and the other guy who was out with me came in shaking. Awesome stuff . Top weekend .
KiteItRight Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 the airshop was brll. i was down on saturday,, underpowred on my 7m at 3pm.. at 5pm i was blown off the water, and iup the beach in about 40/45 nts of wind... it went crazy
danmon81 Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 fantastic pic's Bobby....the lighting in some of them is really dramatic!!!!...that last one's a doozy! Nice one!....
Bobby Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 fantastic pic's Bobby... Cheers Dan, it's one big mother but I love that lens. Might be a chance of a Tuesday-teatime-treat, Cobs is giving it big but its dead cross even a teeny-weeny bit off. Weather looks a bit gray but with HT around 5 you can dive straight in . Hoping for a bit more west in that wind.

SandMonster Posted September 14, 2008 Author Report Posted September 14, 2008 Wasn't Amos getting a bit too enthusiastic with the fire poi was it?
brassneck Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 just in case you aint noticed. the wind meter is back on line not going to make it blow but at least we have it back on line
Bobby Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Such a cool sky today and I needed some beach time so headed down after work to Burbo Bank for a change. Real fine beach, loads of interesting stuff alive and dead and an ice cream seller who does a tasty 99'er. The only downer is the outfall which dumps some cr*p , picked up an interesting pebble which wasn't . http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/rosby1.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/rosby2.jpg Just a tiddler, you should have seen the dude I found, twas a monster crab - nipped me up good. http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/rosby3.jpg Ended up with the shrimping dudes, black as pitch with just an arc light but loads of shrimp, sprats and crabs. Loads of life in that Mersey. Is this the longest windless stretch ever? And no end in sight .

SandMonster Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 Any of you lot off to VanSurf? Gonna paint my car bright yellow & put a T4 badge on it We're supposed to be going, but I'm starting to get a cold or flu or something - so it depends on how that develops before the weekend!
brassneck Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 there are some strange arrows starting to appear on windguru, tuesday, weds next week.... not sure what they mean, but have a vague memory of something called ....wind.... bring me back a nice T4 if you do vansurf paul..... really fancy a 'T4 park on the drive and convert over winter' project.... but the missus would go spare!
Bigbud Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 there are some strange arrows starting to appear on windguru, tuesday, weds next week.... not sure what they mean, but have a vague memory of something called ....wind.... 8mph on sat and sun its better than nothing
Bobby Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 Any of you lot off to VanSurf?... We maybe going, the winds getting better(ish) for BRS and the weather looks cool. But...the home beach is getting a blow over the weekend, the sun will be shining and the footie derby is on...so maybe not. ______ Nowt left to do, gutterings fixed, sheds all tidied, rubbish is gone and the electrics I planned to do last year is all working perfect. Even hung up a bird feeder, wtf . Blonde has now pointed me towards the bedroom, not in a nice way but in a redecorate way, shes already pulled the paper off the walls . No wind hurts my head and my pocket. Wind makes me happy and keeps me richer. Bend trees bend.
SandMonster Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 There's probably a clever way of doing this with a facebook icon or whatever, but I've setup a group for Ainsdale beach (not just kiters) on Facebook: http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=35918851071
