We went to the Open yesterday. Took 2 and a half hours from Wigan !!! (Usually about 50 - 60 mins).

If you're going kiting you'll need to add extra travel time on I reckon as that was only Friday. It'll be busier today and Sunday.

FYI We left at 9:15 am. Lots of roads are closed off as well for a time I think, for the Park and Rides.

Just a heads up for everyone and good luck if you're heading over, looks like a windy weekend.

Not for the fainthearted .

Big balls required for todays massive (but big fun) hoolie. Them gusts must'av been topping out around 40, big blue skys to wipeout under though.

Flew the 10m Venom like a newbie but should'av been out on a 7, cos them winds were something wicked.

Managed to break the spar on that 10 on a very hot launch. Big thanks to Carl for helping me get back in the air - fixed with a plaster from Isla and a load of help from Carl - the guy deserves a medal, appreciate it loads dude.

Waded out and had a bit of a Tom-Fest of pics - the guy was going soo big - if any dudes looking for a Fuel and wants to see how to ride 'em proper - look no further than this guy.

Feck me, there is some airtime there :) Planning on getting down there tomorrow, any hassle with traffic today?. Usually take the back roads across country from Ormskirk anyway so hopefully no queues?

Posted

If you come off the M58 junc 3 then there's traffic right up to the Stanley Gate pub on the cross roads...Golf traffic turns left here and you can continue on into Ormskirk without trouble!

If you come off the junc before, for skem you could avoid the traffic thats coming off at junc 3....

if want i can give you directions to the little Chef roundabout avoiding the motorway build up?????

Having said this you might not find any...them's the chances you take!!

let me know on here

Cool pics as usual Bobby...nice!

Koen was asking about tides for the August Bank Holiday for BLS, Can only find a tide table for Liverpool ( http://www.ukdivers.net/today/liverpool.htm ) but that weekend is the neaps so BLS might be doable. Could be the first AOSPKC trip of 2008?

No problems Paul...I was just about to come over & offer to test launch that 6 access for you when I'd decided my 12 phantom was indeed a bit too much of a handfull, but you'd packed it up. Should have suggested a 'side of the window' launch arc-style - would have been no problem then. Pity!

Hi Mike,

Koen was asking about tides for the August Bank Holiday for BLS, Can only find a tide table for Liverpool ( http://www.ukdivers.net/today/liverpool.htm ) but that weekend is the neaps so BLS might be doable. Could be the first AOSPKC trip of 2008?

Bank Holiday weekend is 23-34 August, not 30-31 as I originally thought by the way.

Thanks for the help with untangling the lines after that tw*t drove over them, ripping the stake clean out and leaving my sister, who was packing up the kite, pretty shaken!
