  6. Hi everyone, I've got 3 virtually brand new HQ Prodigy race kites which have been sitting untouched for well over a year now. These are great kites: fast and stable wih very good handling. Designed by ex Ozone designer Tom Bordeaux, these were the kites the Yakuza GT should have been. They've been used in a buggy about once or twice. One of them only had lines put on if I remember. They come with handles and 15m lines. Posted anywhere in the UK. Bargain prices for a quick sell - get them whilst the summer lasts 6.7m = £320 8.2m = £360 10.5m = £400 PM for details but you can find more info in the HQ powerkites website. Thanks Tim

  13. Speaking of visiting rights... slightly off-topic to this thread I know... but a recent experience of mine struck a chord with Gray's plight at Weston. I visited a long-standing client a few days ago. I meet with them at their serviced offices about 4-5 times a year. I parked in the visitor section of their car park as per usual. The meeting was fruitful and friendly as always. Imagine my dismay when I returned to find my car had been clamped! It seems that I should have phoned their reception in advance to notify them of my impending requirement to park there. In fairness there were signs with this info on. But, believing I had every business to park there and of course having some history of doing so, without problem, I had failed to pay sufficient attention to the signs. If I had made this one fairly insignificant call then everything would have been OK. The sad thing for me is that the receptionist knew I was in the building, yet they didn’t ask if I was using the car park or even have a polite word that in future I should phone in advance. Instead, they just phoned the clampers! Now the authoritarian in me says “rules are rules” and I should just accept this. However, my humanist side just can’t help feel a little aggrieved by this I wasted a few seconds jostling with this moral dilemma. Was this someone doing their job well for the common good of car park users or merely some trumped-up little jobs worth (who was probably bullied at school) exercising their self-importance? It didn’t take me long to decide – I concluded it was the work of a Nazi.
  14. Fair points Si. Flexi (sorry kite crowd!) does attract more traffic and users and as such would be regarded as more of the central resource although I think you'll be surprised as the racekites usage. I know what you mean about the name, it does sound specific - but web names make no difference really -what does google mean lol, its how their marketed and optimised, so if x.com is the recognised resource for something then it gets recommended and accepted as the place to go... I wouldn't overlook racekites per se - it attracts a lot more new people who perhaps may be more in need of site rules and regs than more experienced fliers. When you start kiting you need a kite, so the first thing you look for is product reviews. Do a search on google for power kite or just kite review - its all racekites.com... but obviously that can change with use and SEO Certainly if kitecrew are willing to set up a whole deciated section on site regs by region in the same way as the racekites meets section then thats great. If not, then I suspect rc is a good start and sticky posts will keep info at the top in the fore... Anyway... why have I been drawn into this?! lol Its all a waste of time with too many splinters and nazis! (hastily retreats into hibernation)
  15. racekites.com is already set up to do this. It has a regional meets section with a seperate forum for each region. It wouldn't be too difficult to post a thread on key site regs in that area and to get admin to make it sticky so its at the top all the time. http://www.racekites.com/forum/default.asp
  16. I'd say for UK buggiers, just make sure you have vaild insurance and make some plates up with your insurance number. BPKA insurance is abroad. You could join a british Fed club (this comes under the FISLY remit) take out their insurance and take a race licence. But this will be a lot of hassle for recreational buggiers and even our own Fed insurance is not ideal. Fed insurance is event based, as such you'd have to notify the Fed in advance of the dates you intend to buggy at Les Hemmes. You could tell them at the beginning of each year all possible tides, but its still a hassle. So if you're recreational and aren't a current member of a Fed club, I'd say get BPKA insurance and make plates using your insurance number. But don't take my word for it!
  17. Nope! Not been there I'm fraid... reminds me, I must chase up Matt for your paperwork too.
  18. World Speed Record is 77 mph. Using a 3.3m fixed bridle kite, XX Apexx race buggy, on a salt lake so I've assumed the surface value for tarmac. No small feat and takes real balls! This gives a rating of 254.1... less than badgers cruising around on a light wind day. Think there may be a floor in the plan!
