WTB. Ozone 15mtr R1. "Found one thanks".

Looking for a larger used R1, to increase my quiver.

A 15 mtr original R1, or I'd even consider a Chrono 1 or 2.

Even a damaged kite as described above, that needs repairing may be considered.

Thanks :good:

Don't you have an 11m?

I find little use in having a bigger chrono that my 12m V1 for the buggy.

That said i don't chase sub 8 knots where a bigger chrono/r1 might be better than my 12. I can still get the 12 cranken sub 8 knots.

Yes I do have an 11m R1 mate. :good:

I don't chase sub eight, but hate sitting around. If I could find a reasonably priced larger V1 It would be good for those "crab fart" days.

I used my 13.4 Vapor for quite a few days last year in Yepoon, If only the centre section of the kite will stand up by it's self inflated on the ground, it will fly, but I'm easily over powered when the wind increases much past 6 or 7 knots.

Just being lazy in my old age.

what about the ultimate light wind weapon. 21m flysurfer speed? Good from 3-4 knots in the buggy.

its also listed on gumtree for $1300, but they would probably take less. I have been eyeing it off myself, but don't have the money free.

Andy,

What is the Speed 21m really like, for kite surfing? What do you think? I am 81kgs, and I have a 136cm x 42cm TT board. In what winds realistically could I use the Speed 21 in? 5knots, 8knots, 10 or more knots? I am referring to holding edge, going upwind and some good decent jumps over 8 foot - 2 metres... surely I should be able to get a good loft in 10knots with such a kite. No?

I've seen the wind range charts from Flysurfer, which are promising, but in reality - that could be a different story and of course every rider rides differently, with or without good light-wind experience.

Just curious. I am debating between ordering the Speed 4 21m, Speed 3 21m (cost wise) or go full hog with a real light wind machine like Chrono II, or R1/2?

I don't want to fork out $3000 on a kite that will eventually be sold because it was "not what I was after". And I am after a true light-wind machine in at least 8 knots of wind, for the above specifications.

ps. No I don't want to foil either

I personally have never flown the 21m speed 3. I own the 15m (dlx)and have tried flying a 19m (standard cloth) in 4knots, but it wouldn't fly in such light wind (my 15m dlx did though)

Once you go 15m or over then you definitely want the dlx or lotus cloth.

What I can say is that compared to an R1 the speed kites have more initial grunt, so would be easier to get going with.

as for the 21m, @Luke made a comment once that he wouldn't let anyone test fly the 21m in anything over 10knots.

I don't think @Chook has bought a new kite in his life.

That's downright bloody nasty Andy.............................but so very true mate.

Can only afford pre-loved/repairable gear. Don't mind at all doing time on the sewing machine and fixing them.:good:

Below. A "Vapor" repair after a front line broke and ripped out 7 brake bridal tabs, while in Yeppoon QLD.P1050035.JPG

It flew again the next day.
