This is not only a light wind kite it is an ultra light wind kite.. What does that mean

I don't know I'll let you know when I try It.

Yes I'm biased cause these are the kites I fly, but my comments  are based on my experience out on the water with all my mates out on the water with all sorts of kites and bigger sizes. Mind you I'm flying a 15.5 solo at the moment with a Noble flying carpet and I'm the only one going up wind even against larger kites.  So imagine what I'll be able to achieve with the 17.5m Solo.

This kite will be the lightest 17.5 meter LEI kite on the market, because they have taken off all Dacron material, it has one strut and the bridal lines are now none stretch 300kg flying lines to allow for less drag through the air.

I'll be trying out the 17.5m demo next week and I'll be giving my 2 dollars worth.

But click below to see what all the fuss is about from other  sources.

Possibly because it's the only 17.5m LEI on the market!

Sorry George but when you spend your life with your head buried in a hole you tend to miss what is going on around you. This single strut thing isn't exactly revolutionary and certainly isn't a concept invented by LF.

Oh, look what I found...... Zero1.png

" The best light wind machine on the market is here"

Uh huh. :dance3:

I wouldn't be game to post a line like that without some solid proof.

Specially when there are negative reviews around:

The only negative i would say is because of the one strut design the canopy flaps a lot in higher wind. This makes the bar have some pretty aggressive shaking. I saw this in other reviews before i bought it so it was expected.

...

One problem i have seen is that if water gets on the canopy when relaunching it gets pretty hard to launch. Yesterday I was in light conditions around 10-12mph. I was drift launching and because of only having one strut is was very hard to get the canopy to fill up enough so i could flip it. A little gust came by and helped me out but I've had this problem a few times after the kite fell out of sky in light conditions.

...

The kite is BIG and has TONS of power. we were riding upwind on a twin tip in 9-13mph. It is super efficient in the low end and light air. BUT as with the big size solos it feels mushy in the turns. So compared to a Zeypher or Flite its not as crisp in the turn but has more power for sure. Turning speed was on par with the other 17s but again, a little mushy feeling.

...

I would have thought the lightness stakes would go:

Foil

No Strut (I hear good things about the BRM Cloud 17, see other thread)

One strut

more struts

, and because of that I don't mind what you written on your post. If you knew how to read  English you would have  read where I said it was MY Point of view of the kites that are flying in my area. ?

Hey Jason, you obviously didn't read my thread properly or it might be that you can't read.

I said this is my opinion and MY POINT OF VIEW  of the kite Im flying and against other kites that are in my area, at no point did I mention that there is no other kite with one strut or no struts.  I said this  kite will be lighter because of no Dacron and no thick bridal lines, that's all.  Everything else  that you thought I said is in your head ?

BTW

what a shit video. its full of snippets of the video, but no point does it show one continuous length of riding,

 I wonder why ???????

You want to try the 18m Chrono,  the power and hang time will leave a silly grin on the dial for weeks.

Wind range,  crab fart ( <3 )to 12 knots

animal flatulence  must be the difference between the 12 and the 18 chrono wind ranges. The 12 gets going from sparrow fart. It needs a bit more wind that crab fart.

"The best light wind machine on the market is here."  Interesting title for an unreleased/unproven product.

From the Liquid Force manual...

Deflating Kite
Step 1) Remove valve cap
Step 2) Place mouth firmly over valve and suck
Step 3) Inhale complete volume of air from the leading edge
Step 4) Find a website
Step 5) Exhale via keyboard

I look forward to seeing what you can do with it, the big problem though is ...... A good musician can make a poor instrument sound good, I presume the same could be said for kites. So if it's not as good as you hoped..... Dish up the dirt as well as the good stuff.

Yep good point and I will be giving the dirt also cause I have the boys that are flying other brands around me who I'm sure will keep me accountable ? eg southerlyblaster (mr Flysurfer)?

Oh dear, I think the pi$&)@&)@&(&@(&@)&@)& contest is more amuzing than the new kite specs. By the way, yesterday was flying my Speed Lotus 18m foil on the hill with my DirtSurfer, hmmm no other kiters about, wonder why? Was only a bee's fart worth of wind. Anyway, will be interesting to see the new kite George. Mind you there is always in informal buddy contest between me and George :) . But really to make the comprisons fair, need to be riding the same board as you have seen with the foil boards, this makes a big difference.

"Best light wind machine" is very subjective, some don't like mowing the grass, some do, but its always good when someone is stoked about their next kite purchase.

As far as the kite that will get you going In the least amount of wind imaginable, I think the 21m Speed 4 lotus wears that crown.

FlySurfers speak for them selves.

I don't know about that statement, I've been kiting together with a guy with a 18m Lotus flysurfer and surfboard, me with my 15m solo with a twin tip, and I remember I was going upwind back to the car park at Apex park end from the pier at Altona and he had to walk back. The last time we were out I was zooming around him while he was waiting in the water for the wind to pick up and he weighs about 10kg less than me also ???

Next time I'll have a camera.

Well we could around on this merry go round all day ... most of the time when I kite with my FS Lotus 18m is when no one else is kiting, because the wind is too light for the others. Mind you when the tide is too low and I happened to have my surf board I get stuck on the sandbars because my fins are too long, enter my finless home made barn door it rules and rules over the LEIs like Rosebud hint hint ..... :)

Really, there is no such thing as THE best light wind kite, it is more a case of the best light wind kite that you are happy with, which for any one location varies from one person to another. Some may like the LEIs best, others will like the Foils the best.
