You all missed a great day yesterday, from one end of the beach to the other. The 8mtr Speed was hammering all day the perfect size.

Catchya's next time

Soooo how keen are you all,

Next Monday / Tuesday are possible if it doesn't go to far north. NE is about the most or otherwise very much like last time.

or we can wait to see what happens in the weeks to come.

Can't do next week unfortunately... I am a camera operator for a feature film shooting in Sydney. 3 months of shooting should be coming to a wrap by the end of next week, with just some more scenes to do for a couple of days in March. So after next week I should be relatively free!

Still browsing Google maps looking for fields, reserves, anywhere that might be suitable to buggy on!

I need a "go"/"no go" decision late Sunday for Monday (or, on Monday for Tuesday). I can make either day as a day trip.

Will chat with the guys tomorrow and let you know

tried out the other alternative yesterday but unfortunately wrong wind direction, learnt a lot

will try it out again tomorrow better wind direction.

Hope to meet you soon Rob

JD - what do you use for wind prediction / status? I found this global wind model thing that I can zoom into Australia on. I wonder if it's that you use, or is there something better?

In the UK amongst the paragliding community there was this thing called Wendy Windblows, which charted real-time weather and wind vector information to the internet, real time.

When we do eventually meet, you'll recognise the buggy and kites :)

RobG,

I use WillyWeather for predictions, and it also reports the real time speed and direction for the nearest BOM weather station. It covers all of Australia and is reasonably accurate. The BOM also has a wind vector prediction map, MetEye. Just pick the one that tells you what you want to hear :D .

Mate generally for an estimate I use http://www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/nsw.asp

for more precise 7 Mile beach reading you can't beat http://wx.theshackbythebeach.com/wx/wxindex.php

Tuesday has better direction but low strength

Wednesday has plenty of strength, NE could go further northerly and stuff it + possible rain

What's your thoughts guys, interested or prefer to wait - I'm easy as usual

As I will be driving from Canberra I would prefer to be pretty certain of some good conditions. The afternoon winds on Tue seem to fit in with low tide, so happy to give it a try Tue or leave it to another time.

I would prefer a bigger kite in lower winds of the right direction. At lease we'll get out.

If Tuesday is all suitable, then that should be the day.

Speed III was invented for a reason - low wind

Posted

Well guys will we make it tomorrow then

Low tide is approx 4:30ish, say 2-2:30 arrival at Shoalhaven Heads, possibly Berry (beach rd) entrance

JD

Yes I am still OK to meet up 2 -2.30 - just confirm Shoalhaven/Beach Road or Windang. :good:

Posted

Still maybe better at Shoalhaven Heads to be on the safe side

if it goes East and further north it's the only place to be.

Just need to check on arrival

Cya tomorrow

JD

Hoping the wind and weather permit us to play :goplay::crazypilot:

How did it go?

I couldn't make that trip, but definitely on for any future outings to this location.

Cheers - Rob

We had a great time Rob. Look forward to meeting you on a future occasion. We should plan to meet up again down there or Windang soon.
