jdhot Posted November 8, 2014 Report Posted November 8, 2014 A few of us are going to hit Windang beach (south end near surf club and behind caravan park) tomorrow arvo around 3pm if anyone is intersted in coming. JD Quote
BobM Posted November 9, 2014 Report Posted November 9, 2014 Love to, Stuck in Brisbane :-( BobM Quote
jdhot Posted November 9, 2014 Author Report Posted November 9, 2014 You all missed a great day yesterday, from one end of the beach to the other. The 8mtr Speed was hammering all day the perfect size. Catchya's next time JD Quote
RobG Posted December 31, 2014 Report Posted December 31, 2014 Looks like a good spot... I'd be up for a trip down there in 2015. Cheers - Rob Quote
Tiger37 Posted December 31, 2014 Report Posted December 31, 2014 I would try and join you too. Happy New Year!!! Quote
jdhot Posted January 1, 2015 Author Report Posted January 1, 2015 Soooo how keen are you all, Next Monday / Tuesday are possible if it doesn't go to far north. NE is about the most or otherwise very much like last time. or we can wait to see what happens in the weeks to come. JD Quote
BobM Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 I need a "go"/"no go" decision late Sunday for Monday (or, on Monday for Tuesday). I can make either day as a day trip. Quote
RobG Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 Can't do next week unfortunately... I am a camera operator for a feature film shooting in Sydney. 3 months of shooting should be coming to a wrap by the end of next week, with just some more scenes to do for a couple of days in March. So after next week I should be relatively free! Still browsing Google maps looking for fields, reserves, anywhere that might be suitable to buggy on! Cheers - Rob Quote
jdhot Posted January 1, 2015 Author Report Posted January 1, 2015 I need a "go"/"no go" decision late Sunday for Monday (or, on Monday for Tuesday). I can make either day as a day trip. Will chat with the guys tomorrow and let you know tried out the other alternative yesterday but unfortunately wrong wind direction, learnt a lot will try it out again tomorrow better wind direction. Hope to meet you soon Rob JD Quote
RobG Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 JD - what do you use for wind prediction / status? I found this global wind model thing that I can zoom into Australia on. I wonder if it's that you use, or is there something better? In the UK amongst the paragliding community there was this thing called Wendy Windblows, which charted real-time weather and wind vector information to the internet, real time. When we do eventually meet, you'll recognise the buggy and kites Cheers - Rob Quote
SoutherlyBuster Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 RobG, I use WillyWeather for predictions, and it also reports the real time speed and direction for the nearest BOM weather station. It covers all of Australia and is reasonably accurate. The BOM also has a wind vector prediction map, MetEye. Just pick the one that tells you what you want to hear . Like this link http://wind.willyweather.com.au/nsw/illawarra/windang-beach.html Regards, Norman Quote
jdhot Posted January 2, 2015 Author Report Posted January 2, 2015 JD - what do you use for wind prediction / status? Mate generally for an estimate I use http://www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/nsw.asp for more precise 7 Mile beach reading you can't beat http://wx.theshackbythebeach.com/wx/wxindex.php I need a "go"/"no go" decision late Sunday for Monday (or, on Monday for Tuesday). I can make either day as a day trip. Bob, Tuesday will probably be the go, will call you closer to the day. Happy New Year All JD Quote
RobG Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 Thanks for the weather links chaps. Appreciated Looks like the 'Shack by the beach' site is run by a fellow radio ham too Cheers - Rob Quote
Tiger37 Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 I can do Mon or Tue but just need the "go ahead' for either day the previous evening so I can pack the car and get down on time - either text or via this site. Cheers Quote
jdhot Posted January 3, 2015 Author Report Posted January 3, 2015 Tuesday has better direction but low strength Wednesday has plenty of strength, NE could go further northerly and stuff it + possible rain What's your thoughts guys, interested or prefer to wait - I'm easy as usual JD Quote
Tiger37 Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 As I will be driving from Canberra I would prefer to be pretty certain of some good conditions. The afternoon winds on Tue seem to fit in with low tide, so happy to give it a try Tue or leave it to another time. Quote
BobM Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 I would prefer a bigger kite in lower winds of the right direction. At lease we'll get out. If Tuesday is all suitable, then that should be the day. Speed III was invented for a reason - low wind Quote
jdhot Posted January 4, 2015 Author Report Posted January 4, 2015 Well guys will we make it tomorrow then Low tide is approx 4:30ish, say 2-2:30 arrival at Shoalhaven Heads, possibly Berry (beach rd) entrance JD Quote
Tiger37 Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 Well guys will we make it tomorrow then Low tide is approx 4:30ish, say 2-2:30 arrival at Shoalhaven Heads, possibly Berry (beach rd) entrance JD Yes I am still OK to meet up 2 -2.30 - just confirm Shoalhaven/Beach Road or Windang. Quote
BobM Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 I vote for Shoal haven at the Berry Turnoff (Tiger - that is where we did the low wind trial) BobM Quote
jdhot Posted January 5, 2015 Author Report Posted January 5, 2015 Still maybe better at Shoalhaven Heads to be on the safe side if it goes East and further north it's the only place to be. Just need to check on arrival Cya tomorrow JD Hoping the wind and weather permit us to play Quote
BobM Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 I'll wait for your call at the surf club Quote
Tiger37 Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 Good for me Bob. I'll head to the surf club too. Quote
RobG Posted January 17, 2015 Report Posted January 17, 2015 How did it go? I couldn't make that trip, but definitely on for any future outings to this location. Cheers - Rob Quote
