I'm hoping so it's been nearly 12mths since my last buggy. Shack on the beach prediction "Partly cloudy with afternoon showers or thunderstorms. High 28C. Winds SSE at 15 to 30 km/h. Chance of rain 40%" Low tides is about 2.30, so beach is usable from 1pm Good wind direction and strength, just depends on how early the rain will come in ... I'm going to seriously watch it. JD Ok JD. I'll keep an eye on changes and maybe come for the day on Sunday. Quote
Phil Litchfield Posted December 12, 2017 Report Posted December 12, 2017 fingers crossed it picks up later in the week.. still keen to go down. fishing and flying.. super keen... will be catching a train down Saturday arvo if all goes ahead.. Tiger37 1 Quote
BobM Posted December 12, 2017 Report Posted December 12, 2017 I'm going to pull the pin on this weekend too - too much change of too little kiting. I haven't been out since Australia Day 2017 and still need to untangle the Flysurfer kite from Kingston. The next possible weekend is the 30/31 December. I'll be on forced leave so will be looking for an excuse to leave the kids behind :-) Quote
jdhot Posted December 15, 2017 Author Report Posted December 15, 2017 Hi Guys, I think Bob's made the best decision to pull the pins The NNE is ok for the very far southern end (Shoalhaven Heads to breakwater) if the river mouth is closed off, not sure. But the changing conditions and wind directions, I'm out to Strong Southerly wind on Sunday will mean SWesterly straight along the beach. Hopefully soon guys JD Quote
Tiger37 Posted December 15, 2017 Report Posted December 15, 2017 Today wind on Sun in the afternoon at low tide is SSE about 12 knots. Not brilliant. Agree with Bob and John. Think we are probably best to pull the pin and try another time. Quote
Phil Litchfield Posted December 16, 2017 Report Posted December 16, 2017 I must be reading willy weather wrong, nothing below 20knots all day sunday from s-sww-s-sse.. oh well... maybe next time..maybe.. Quote

Hey Phil, taking my readings from 7 mile beach. This is what I get this morning. Low tide at 3.30pm Quote
jdhot Posted December 17, 2017 Author Report Posted December 17, 2017 It was a good call guys - avg wind 4.1kts Quote
Easterly Posted December 19, 2017 Report Posted December 19, 2017 I was passing through on my way south from Wollongong and stopped off for a look. The wind was pretty light. Good direction. The beach looked really nice. Didn't bother to take my kites out, though. Next time... Tiger37 1 Quote
BobM Posted January 10, 2018 Report Posted January 10, 2018 Looking at the tide times for seven mile beach on Willy weather, it seems that there will be a low tide at 5;43 on Sat 20th and another at 6:19 on the 21st of January. I know Tiger will be away at Kingston on those dates, but is anyone interested for a run on seven mile beach on those dates andy666 1 Quote
Mfwetu Posted January 11, 2018 Report Posted January 11, 2018 At this early stage Saturday looks to be the pick with 15-20 knot onshore winds but it's still too early to call. As long as it's not pouring with rain I'd be keen for a few runs in the afternoon. It would be great to share the beach with some other land kiters for a change. Quote
BobM Posted January 15, 2018 Report Posted January 15, 2018 Looking at http://www.myweather2.com/City-Town/Australia/New-South-Wales/Nowra/14-Day-Forecast.aspx and it seems reasonable for Saturday and/or Sunday Anyone else interested in a run on Seven Mile beach Quote
Phil Litchfield Posted January 16, 2018 Report Posted January 16, 2018 might be keen for a sunday trip down down, anyone got something spare to tow behind a ozone 4? Quote
Mfwetu Posted January 18, 2018 Report Posted January 18, 2018 Windfinder report for the weekend looks alright for both days. I'm working on both but will head down if I can finish early enough. @Phil Litchfield if I make it down I've got skis and a landboard that you're welcome to use. Quote
BobM Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 Looking at those charts, I think I'll start at the Shoalhaven Heads Surf Club at 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday and see if we can buggy towards the river mouth or need to move to hammerhead pt for a beach run. Quote
BobM Posted January 21, 2018 Report Posted January 21, 2018 Had a great solo session on Saturday at Hammerhead Point - the wind was just about perfect for runs both north and south of the point. Not too many people to dodge around as well as a couple of eagles and large gulls that floated in the breeze as well. Pulled the pin on Sunday in an attempt to get home during daylight hours. Now I just need to clean the gear and pack it up again until December Mfwetu 1 Quote
Mfwetu Posted January 22, 2018 Report Posted January 22, 2018 Nice to hear you had a good session. Still a few months before the winter westerlies set in so hopefully you get to dirty your gear before December. I finished too late on both days to make the trip but next Saturday doesn't look bad and I should get a day pass so hope to see a few other land kites in action. Quote
Tiger37 Posted January 22, 2018 Report Posted January 22, 2018 @Mfwetu not sure yet but I might be able to make it for a day this coming weekend. Quote
Mfwetu Posted January 23, 2018 Report Posted January 23, 2018 Wind and weather look fine for all 3 days at this stage with Saturday being my pick. Tiger37 1 Quote
jdhot Posted January 23, 2018 Author Report Posted January 23, 2018 Has anybody been to 7 mile recently and knows if the river mouth is open or closed just south of Shoalhaven Heads surf club? JD Quote
Mfwetu Posted January 24, 2018 Report Posted January 24, 2018 Was at the surf club in October and it was closed but that was before the rains. After discussions with my "social secretary" I'll be heading down on Sunday so I'll find out then Quote
BobM Posted January 25, 2018 Report Posted January 25, 2018 Was there on the weekend, but the wind was more for hammerhead point. I could see beach all the way south from the surf club to the breakwater Quote
