Macca Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 OK so first 10 day forecasts that get us to the Sandy Point w/e became available today and it ain't looking pretty... Weather Channel gives 4mph NW on Friday and 2mph NW on Saturday. [http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/tenday/ASXX0075?dp=windsdp] Fingers crossed it gets better as we get closer. These were for Melbourne not the Prom but are probably indicative of what we are going to get. Macca Quote
sinbad Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 Looks like the grog and the golf at the moment are the in thing. Hope you get wind. Quote
Pete Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I am remaining optimistic in spite of the forecasts. It is too early for contingency planning... Quote

Min 19 Max 33 Sunday Becoming fine. Min 15 Max 23 So looks good for a buggy run come Sunday morning!!!!! Let the 30+ knot SW'ers from Antartica hit hard!!! Monday should be a little lighter, but still from the South, fingers crossed. Quote
Gav Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Please let it not be a northerly weekend ...... oh well, even if it is , there's still a good chance of getting out on the water at the inlet. I do need an excuse to get my feet wet again Quote
SHEPPO3930 Posted March 5, 2007 Report Posted March 5, 2007 i looked on seabreeses and the arrows are green and from SW so i rekon saturday will be the bomb! i'll wait till later in the week before making the call on which day i'll be down there. Quote
.Joel Posted March 5, 2007 Author Report Posted March 5, 2007 Hi All, Email will be going around to all attending tomorrow night with house details etc. Regards, Joel Quote
.Joel Posted March 6, 2007 Author Report Posted March 6, 2007 Email went out to everybody attending at unearthly hours this morning Regards, Joel Quote
Macca Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Sunday and Monday are looking *much* better than previous forecasts. Fri Sth but light and messy, Sat might be OK, but looks a mess at the moment., Sun strong Sth-ish but variable and Mon lighter but more consistently Sth. All that finger crossing has worked a bit! But who knows what it will all be like on the day. http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=15753 .Joel is of course rejecting my reality and searching for a better forecast... Macca Quote
.Joel Posted March 8, 2007 Author Report Posted March 8, 2007 Can't remember what the "reality line" you gave me on Skype is, but i'm doing just that And so far seems to be working On a side note... As a prize for the weekend we have a Flexifoil Kite to give away thanks to Goshen @ Kitepower. Huge thanks to the shops supplying the demo gear for us and I encourage everyone to try and get a fly. Demo Gear: Kitepower Ozone Access 4m Ozone Frenzy '06 7.5m Ozone Frenzy '07 10m Ozone Yakuza 3.5m Baseboard Demo Gear: Briskites PKD Brooza 2.0m PKD Brooza 3.0m PKD Century 3.5m Libre Vampir Race 2.0m Aside from the list that was sent out, we also have additional members that will be appearing over the weekend who are staying at Sandy Point. So another 6 to 10 people will appear over the weekend in addition. So an overall turnout of 30 I would consider a success as our first organized event. Regards, Joel Quote
Pete Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Other DEMO gear (thanks to Briskites) will be: PKD Brooza 2.0m & 3.0m PKD Century 3.5m Libre Vampir Race 2.0m So, I hope the wind is up! Quote
.Joel Posted March 8, 2007 Author Report Posted March 8, 2007 Awsome Pete, I just called you to get a list of the kites Jason had with you but it went to your voicemail I've updated the list. We will have to have a race Yakuza Vs Century I've flown the Yaks once!!!! So it can be deaf leading the blind all the way up the beach Regards, Joel Quote

Andy Mac Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 http://www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/vic.asp Looking good if you can get there for the morning low tide on Friday - otherwise Monday is looking the best unless the wind swings in time on the Sunday morning. Fingers crossed... In other news - bloody old car issues continue. Kombi van threw a torsion bar on the front end as I took the home turn this arvo. Currently at the local garage with a promise to fix tomorrow if a spare can be found. So, I'll be down Friday night or more likely Saturday arvo - In time for the BBQ Quote
