  1. Now Sold - bord still available though!
  2. Late evening bump!
  3. I've now been informed that it is in fact a (now rather rare) Flexifoil Mk 1 buggy and is perfectly well suited to freestyle buggying!
  4. I am reluctantly admitting that I do not have time to indulge in my kites any longer so some of my gear is going up for sale. My buggy is listed here on ebay, £135 ono: eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace It's an old Peter Lynn (I've been told) - very solid and runs smooth enough, good intro to buggies. Open to reasonable offers from Kite Crowd members.
  5. 8-10mph with gusts to 20ish? according to metoffice - I'll be along tomorrow then to try out the 14m I picked up last week. All tips/advice/help/laughing gratefully received!!!!
  6. Yes, kite season ends at the end of March. Had a holiday booked last year for last week in March but then it got moved to the first week of April due to the park opening later - guess what, no land kiting (well, static only) - so car full of board, buggy, kites and no chuffing use! So I went and handbraked my car round the beach to make up for it......!?!
  7. Wow, I'm coming over tomorrow to pick up a kite - I get the impression the 14m may not be geeting an outing...! better pack the smaller ones aswell then!
  8. 14m Vegas sold = Yep, the other half was dead impressed when I told her......!?! See you tomorrow.
  9. PM sent
  10. I've done the same and just jumped from a 3m Beamer and 5m Ace to an 18m Guerilla! Regrets? - Nope not one. Had it out for the first time last week and got a bit of help setting up and launching for the first time, after that I found self relaunching not too much of a problem. It was a very low wind day which was great to start on but sometimes a struggle to keep it in the air. I'm impressed with with ARC's so far and think it will definitely bring on my boarding - good luck to ya fella, don't think you'll regret it.
  11. I had my G18 out yesterday, my first time with an ARC and depower and was definitely not enough wind. I had the same thing, pulling bar in would stall the kite and begin to fall, however when we did have a little pick up, pulling the bar in definitely increased the power. I'd suggest trying again when you have some better winds, as stated above about 12mph would be about right - I can't wait..!
  12. Thanks all for the warm welcome yesterday and the help in getting set up and flying. It was a great introduction to depower and ARC's, shame about the wind (or lack of...) Great site, I'll be back soon!
  13. Can I jump on the depower bandwaggon too! I'm moving to the ARC side. Bought myself an 18m Guerilla, just need to get the last few bits hopefully by the weekend (depower strap, safety leash) then gagging for a go on it. I might be up for EKS on Sunday, any volunteers to walk me through a set up? (and make sure I don't kill myself in the process!)
  14. Big ole' mention for Mr Smith - Just got an 18m Guerilla from him - great condition, superb service and really impressed - especially as he had to repack the spars 3 times due to some Royal Mail Jobsworth! And kept me updated all the way. Top Job - Cheers!
  15. I'm sure the Bas Luhrman reference is lost on this audience! Nice vid though, I admit to being a tad jealous!
  16. Haven't been out for a while, months in fact, new motorbike distracted me for a while. So I need to get out this weekend and get back into the game, my 7m Starboard still hasn't had a proper outing. Any chance of some directions to this site? I understand if I'm left on the outside for now, but if I'm in what's the cost?
  17. Are we back to that thread that was previously around concerning people jumping over power lines, grinding them, etc! At least this one isn't being taken quite so seriously. Nice pics Sand-Yeti, should have used a bigger kite though you've got loads of room left under there....! ... or how about a kiteloop underpass.....!
  18. Just heard that there was a report on local radio today about cars being broken into at Lickey Hills and Clent Hills over the weekend, theiving b****rds have been targetting peoples car boots when they leave their cars! I hope no-one here has been affected, but keep your eyes on your kit and your wheels folks! See you for eXtreme weekend ....... WooHoo!
  19. peeps on racekites have been flying in no wind at all, flyin on apparent wind alone, i think it gets fun at 5 mph + Agreed. I was flying mine on saturday and keeping it up in zero winds, managed to jump a few feet in about 5mph. Change the lines and handles and you have a fantastic kite for the money, no regrets from me!
  20. This is my first kite review and I would emphasise that I have only ben flying for a few months and so is in no way an 'expert' opinion, it is however representative of my experience with this kite so far. The Pansh Ace 5.0m in Black & White arrived within 1 week of ordering. Kite comes in a stuff sack which appears to be the same material as the kite, it was also tied up with length of similar material, this made for a good test sample. I tried to rip it in several directions which I managed to do but with considerable effort. Kite - This is made of lightweight ripstop material, stitching all looks good with taped leading and trailing edges, there is internal cross bracing and small velcro dirt outs at either end. Once untangled (not badly) the bridles look OK ,bridle line quality not up to that of the Beamer but seems adequate. There is only a single attahment point for the brake lines so no room for adjustment at this end. Handles - These feel quite heavy and are roughly finished, there is burring around all holes in the alloy, although the leaders pass through plastic grommets on the leading side, leaders are cheap but feel resonably strong, would definately benefit from some soft sleeving. Handles are covered in a firm rubber type material so do not feel particularly padded, although I usually wear gloves so don't mind this. Lines - Braided and quite thick looking at first. I pegged one end and stretched them out, they required quite a lot of untwisting off the winder. Once straight they looked quite good for length but had around 8-10 inches of stretch in them, imagine flying your kite on bungee lines! First flight felt a bit wooly with these, checked lines again after and there was 6" difference in main lines and 4" in brakes. So ajusted them and pegged them out stretched for several hours, after this they looked a little thinner and felt much better. First flight was late on the day of arrival, very low wind maybe 3-5mph gusting to 7-8 at a stretch. It launched fine first tim, tips took a bit of work to inflate but got there. turning was a little sluggish and the kite tended to tuck a wing tip on turning this was more pronounced on one side. Landed the kite, adjusted the brake lines and tried again, managed to fly for about an hour with various adjustments. I must admit I wasn't blinded by the performance on this flight but I put this down to very low wind and very spongy feeling lines. Saturday brought the second flight over at Lickey Hill with a little better wind, around 10mph. As I had been stretching the lines all morning it took a little while to set them up again. another local was just packing his Blade IV 6.5 away and asked for a go, I was happy to oblige, he managed a couple of small jumps and said the brakes felt little short, so we adjusted them and he had another go, this produced a couple of 6 foot plus jumps, his comment was "that's got some lift" he was pretty surprised when I told him the price! So I had an hour with it before the rain came, I could definitely feel a lot of power in this kite, it gave some OK scuds of about 6-10ft uphill. I tried a few jumps without much success, but this is more likely to be because I have no idea how to! The lines still felt a bit stretchy and I didn't feel in direct connection with the kite like I do with my Beamer. But the turning was much better and with brakes it will literally spin on it's axis although it does lose power in low wind, this is easily compensated for though. The brakes work well although do seem to come on quickly with only a little movement of the handles, landing the kite could get a litte messy with the kite tending to crumple up rather than fly backwards, it also had a tendancy to dip to the right and turn over, again this may be down to line adjustment though, with a little practice I was starting to get used to the delicate feel of the brakes. Overall this kite sems very well made and represents excellent value for money, I feel that any problems I encountered so far were chiefly down to the lines. This kite would benefit from replacment lines and possibly handles, this of course comes as no surprise as it seems to be a common theme with Pansh. The lines could become serviceable but will need a fair bit of attention and will probably need adjusting and re-adjusting over several sessions before I would feel confident with them. I look forward to further sesions with this kit when I will be able to update the review with more details of how it flies! This is definitely NOT a beginners kite, some experience with power kites is very much needed. By : keithrturner
  21. mattdez - I did type something after but for some reason it hasn't appeared, only just realised. It is all down to risk assessment and personal choice, I love my contact lenses and wear them for everything and never had any problems, of course this doesn't mean that there couldn't be! I sugest listening to advice at all times and then making your own choice!
  22. i think you do thats the whole idea i think
