  1. I know some poeple who were up at West Kirby in Liverpool and said there was people doing it there but i haven't seen it just heard about it , However anyone from West Kirby might know more????
  2. Hi ya I Fly Occasionally at Hampstead (will be there tomorrow prob) And it is a shocker for people everywhere. I make an effort to stay away from others and when people do walk i put the Kite down (Which is frustrating because it is quite frequent) But It's still the only place to fly there and you kind of have to get on with it. I fly there because i am visiting someone next to it so it is the only reasonable place to fly if i am there. Still it is frustrating when people try and walk underneatha nd stand there watching it as i have to put kite down and wait for them to move. To be fair most people seem to just think oh, it's only a kite, not realising they have moved on a bit since Thomas the Tank engine kites of our childhood era. Guess just have to be aware if flying there.
  3. I live in Twickenham and use Old Deer Park quite regularly. It's free and close to me, having said that i need to organise insurance so ican get a richmond Permit to go there as well but in the mean time seems as a good a spot as i have found.
  4. Hey There Hope you enjoy the "land of the long white cloud" or Aotearoa as it is otherwise known. I picked up the kiting scene when i moved over here but i can tell you the beaches in Canterbury will be great for what you want they have large empty hard packed sand if you go the right places (and theres plenty we have loads of coast + few people). And Nelson at the top of the South Isalnd (sorry if it's been mentioned) is where Peter Lynn is from and to my knowledge still flies(if mainly developement flying), plus whenever i went there i always used to look at the guys flying thinking i'd love to do that (looking forward to going home and joining in now i have the gear to). Although i didn't kite back home i would say i think the second hand market would be pretty average as there just isn't the population, and therefore the amount of people in a minority sport to resell???? This was the case with other sports i did so i imagine it's similar. Also Kites even when new seem to be more expensive when i looked for my brother over there (Even Peter Lynn!!!!) i would say keep your kites you'll have loads of wide empty spaces to use them in and you won't want to be stuck without them. Good luck man, any questions i will be happy to try and answer them. I know Canterbury pretty well (Born in Timaru raised in Dunedin) so although not an actual local i have spent plenty of time there. Cheers Dave
  5. Hi there all the info should be on this thread http://community.flexifoil.com/showthread.php?t=78242 Dave

  7. Yep I found One not long ago but it was locked!!!!! so i couldn't just ring their home or mum number. Had to take it to police station and hope they could get it to the rightful owner. But i would like someone to return mine (if i lost it) so i have to return theres simplistic way of seeing it i know but seems right to me
  8. Good work i and i'm sure eveybody else in the region thanks you hugely Dave (Hopefully i will met you flying there one day and be able to thank you personally)
  9. Hey There, i fly at Old Deer Park quite regularly it is as good as i have around locally without Richmond Park (or a car) and does the trick with a bit of size and reasonable winds considering where we are (i.e. not by the sea). If anyone goes down there and sees a large Hairy Kiwi boy say hi, i am friendly and don't bite (or at least not hard!!!!!) , should also be able tell it's me as i will be flying the kites in my sig. always keen to meet others Dave

Big thanks in advance Dave

  15. There is one called powerkite magazine which mainly focuses on landboarding and land based flying in general i quite enjoy it but have been struggling to find it in most shops. You will have to look quite hard but i swear it does exist, it's just a matter of finding someone who stocks it (which so far i haven't managed for the newest one)

Am going to Majorca on Saturday and have been debating whether to put a kite in my bag (the missus isn't convinced) would only be for static Flying on land but was curious whether there is any room, we are going to Puerto de Soller?? so i hope there is plenty but am resigned to there probably not being............... oh well.
  18. Wow that is amazing that someone actually bid Have to say though it is worth it for reading the question and answers the man is obviously a Joker who has no clue or actually know anything about the kite or kites in general made me laugh at least Dave

  25. I saw him when i was in Paris as well it was quite cool but the kite wasn't giving to much to work with and he was just cruising around a square in the city. looked cool but think i would get bored soon enough as no jumping !!! but yeah it was an old fella i think he must be there lots if your mum saw him as well.
