  1. Where are you going boarding... I'll be home on Sat for 2 weeks. Are you heading to the Port?
  2. What about the Scrub Ejector - what's the verdict on this compared to others mentioned?
  3. Thanks folks
  4. A few months ago I remember someone had created a list of various kites under the different types with recommendations for each skill level. Is this still floating around? Thanks.
  5. I was there on Fri and Sat and the lake was excellent for learning on... also made for an interesting night in that beach club when the water was about 2 feet from the ddor.
  6. It seems there is a lot of cowboy schools. We started on a tiny little two line kite and slowly worked our way up doing the launches and rigging them each time under supervision. It was not until we each individually displayed a working knowledge of each power zone and launching each side on the wind window before being let on the water.

    Handles v Bar

Sorry... should have explained. I just got back yesterday from my kite surfing holiday and want to have as much of the kite boarding feel as possible on land. My e-mail to start with is very baddly worded. Thanks for the feedback.
  8. I bought a 3 metre Blade on handles just to learn how to control a kite etc. before I went on holiday to try kite surfing. I do not landboard yet but with the principle aim of learning kite boarding (on water) what are the advantages / disadvantages of landboarding with handles v a bar?
  9. Just got back and had an absolute blast. Lessons with Kite Surf Tarifa, an English guy called Mike (or 007) which looking around at other schools I think they were good - no problems at all and pretty safety aware / concious. The wind was off-shore and gusty for three out of the six days but the three we had were really good. The lagoon there is ideal for learning - about an acre of water that is waist high and no surf / waves. Happy Days
  10. Thanks folks, It looks like I am going in Sept after the school holidays are over so hopefully a bit quieter. Maybe a day or two on the South Coast of England as a prep would be better than going straight at it in Tarifia.
  11. Was thinking of going to Tarifia to do a kitesurfing course - can anyone recommend a good company over there or here that arrange trips. Thanks.
  12. Apologies if someone has provided an up-date lately, have just returned to work. What is the latest regarding Richmond Park and the ban?
  13. MS PENZ - chill fella. Jeff Knox is only trying to advice a bit of caution. I surf, scuba dive, swim, canoe... all sorts of water sports on seas, rivers, lakes etc. and its no joke - things can change in a second. Try big surf, cold conditions and cramp and throw in an undercurrent travelling faster than you can run and you will know that the ability to swim will serve you well. Fine, you may know your local break but people still die. Mark Foo was a well known Hawaian big wave rider and allround water man drowned surfing his local break on an average day. Grab a wet-suit get down to the beach and do a few weekends just swimming in the shallows to get the swimming thing sorted and it's good for fitness. Mother nature looks nice but bites when complacent. Also before you say it - I am not "up myself" just would rather not hear that you drowned as probably Knox feels.
  14. What to do? I live two minutes from Richmond Park, am waiting delivery of my first kite, a Blade, and before I get the beast in the air it gets banned. Can anyone recommend the next closest area near Putney / Barnes? Thanks in advance.
  15. After a bit of research it seems that these fellas are good for learning the fine art of kiteing and land boarding. As a total beginner which should I go for. On this web-site the 2.5m is billed as the beginner kite and the 3.5m as intermediate yet have read about loads of people going for larger kites straight of. Any advice on the best way forward. Ta
