garykf Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 anyone planning BRS this weekend, Ozone mini tour with land and water goodies to try out. Low tide,, wind looks cross onshore at around 20-28mph, good water session on the cards:) and some fast land stuff as well.
JohnDave Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Can't do BRS, gonna stay local and head to Ainsdale Sat.
gravyboat Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 I'm working all day and night Sat but I'll be over from 12 on Sunday! Had a wicked afternoon yesterday. 1st sesh with decent wind on my landboard. did a few good bails but boy was it fun!
carltb Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 yeah ant you're starting to look good on that board now. just need to learn how to stop without falling over!!!!!!!! lol
Match Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 yeah ant you're starting to look good on that board now. just need to learn how to stop without falling over!!!!!!!! lol :D :D
gravyboat Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Hiya matt, sorry I couldnt come fleetwood. I only got over the dale in the afternoon for an hour and half then had to go back to work for a job. fleetwood was too far LOL yeah i did a few bails yesterday, think i would of been in hospital if it wernt for my pads and lid. the board stuck in soft sand, i did a superman and pulled on the bar with one hand (in terror) the kite looped and flung me like a rag doll backwards and smashed me into the floor. it knocked the **** out of me but best thing to do is catch your breath and jump back on. I'm aching all over today. I can stop now, I fall off when I go too fast my feet wobble or when a gust pulls me off. Its all good fun, I had an awesome day yesterday even if it was only an hour or so.
Match Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 No probs on the Fleetwood thing, didn't even get a kite out myself I can stop now, I fall off when I go too fast my feet wobble or when a gust pulls me off. Lean back, bend your knees, trust the kite to hold you up. Better to fall on yer ar$e than your face.
gravyboat Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 true mate, ive been doing quite well on it though. i'm moving now and i can control were i'm going a little, not just going downwind now! i find it easier going fast to my left but i lean back better when i go to the right. you will have to show me how to get air with it now!!!! ony kiddin, walk then run. been thinking about it and i dont think i looped the kite when i did my bad bail. i didnt see it loop because i was being dragged like a rag doll but i caught a glimpse of it going from the bottom of the window to the top. when i got up my lines were twisted like when you do a loop but i didnt think that it could of been by body that span around while doing the crazy bail not the kite. it was amazingly powerful and ive never done a bail like that before but thinking about it i think a loop would be more powerful. sunday then mate?????
Bobby Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Looking cool for the weekend - tad nippy, but stick plenty on and we should all be toasty. Hoping to get there tomorrow for them decent 11m blows and maybe even a sweet big kite Sunday too . Have a blast at BRS Gary, them Ozone dudes should be wicked. Note to real lazy self; Ainsdale isn't the only beach. ______________ Recommendation - "Into the Wild" - this is one real moving docu-film. At the end no one got up till the credits had finished. 5 big ones. Weekend Tip - "Do androids dream of electric sheep?" my fav film ever is on at Liverpool's Fact Sat evening - me and daughter2 will be answering this question after paying homage to Bladerunner (the final cut) and afterwards supping a couple of chilled ones downed someplace in Bold Street. Recommended if you like me get transfixed by great sci-fi art house stuff.
garykf Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Im going to stay local then and get wet at Ainsdale...see you down there early doors
JohnDave Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 High tide at just after 10 and looks like some silly winds and rain coming over in the morning. Going to head up for midday.
garykf Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 first time out in ages, not too cold and good to be back on the wet stuff. Thanks to andy, mike and fraiser for the loan of a kite. Slightly overpowerd when the gusts came through but the Nemesis seems like a pretty good piece of kit. my hometown hombre Tom (KiteItRight) has loaned me a Rippher to try out so hoping for some good winds next weekend.

Bobby Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Looked like an awesome Ainsdale day I missed . Talked into being ref to a viscious bunch of 13 yo footballing thugs - the power was sweet , but some of 'em tackles were gruesome . Where do these young'uns get it from?? A great week of bangon westerlies on the way - gonna take maybe Wed and Thur off and get down for a paddle. Might be selling my V10 if any dudes interested.
Match Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 Might be selling my V10 if any dudes interested. Bobby, contact Gravyboat on here, good guy just starting out. Has a 13m venom and is after a 10 for the perfect winter quiver.

Are they trained in sanding down kites;) Point taken though, on a gusty day the last thing needed is a rogue kite flying around.
brassneck Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 day off tomorrow so doing a 'oh my god how long since I was on the beach mid week' trip . anyone else down?
koen1599968714 Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 day off tomorrow so doing a 'oh my god how long since I was on the beach mid week' trip . anyone else down? Had a great buggying afternoon on Sunday (surprised to only see Carl about and no-one else!) and was thinking of taking a day off tomorrow and have a session 10-2. Will there be enough beach left after 12 with the high tide though? Koen.
