PaulLaurie Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Cheers Jon, I knew Matt had resigned so was just wondering who from AOSPKC was on the Panel. I was also wondering about the 100m thing (rule 9). That's an awful lot of beach to loose suddenly when the tide gets within 100m. Does the 100m extend from the dunes or the car park limit?
JohnDave Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 What's the issue with rule 25? In terms of the racing, previously it's only been a restriction for when the racers were setting up and racing. Outside of these times it's been OK to use the beach. Jon has previously given us an idea of how the event is unfolding during the weekend, ie "just 1 race sunday, should be over by early afternoon" or no wind saturday, so racing on all day sunday 10 till 6" etc Any chance of the same?
carltb Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 The use of kite leashes is compulsory.
big-jon Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Quite probably - not my event this one, its the PKA's I woudl think though its the same, if there is any wind and beach left when the races are over then I guess it will be back in normal use.

Yep, not directed at you Jon, just an example of how conciderate you've been to us all in the past
big-jon Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Wow a compliment!!! Can I frame that and keep it??? Cheers mate, appreciated
JohnDave Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 It's only a fair comment, appreciate it when everyone can be included, and only the tiniest hint of sarcasm
nolan Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 I reckon I could be tempted out of retirement tomorrow if the weather plays ball. I'll only be able to static fly 'cos my permit & insurance ran out over 12 months ago, but it's a start! It'll be good to get back to the old haunt. Anyone playing out?
PaulLaurie Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Maybe if I don't get there today, trying to finish a few things and go this afternoon I've forgotten what sand looks like and there's none left in my car!
SandMonster Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 Going to try my damnedest to get down tomoz....wonder if Gill is in to do permits...?

PaulLaurie Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 What's a kite leash? Was good today first time in ages. Not a lot of wind but it was in the right direction. May do tomorrow too.
SandMonster Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 Met office forecast is cloudy with some drizzle...lets hope the drizzle stays in Manchester & the famous Ainsdale mini-ecosystem behaves itself today!

Yep, will be down 3pm ish if anyone still there, going to see 'Another Place' first down the beach
nolan Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 I'll be setting off in a minute. See you there.
SandMonster Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 Top day at the beach...a bit like old times with all the regular faces turning up...lets hope this was the first of many for this year...fingers xxx-ed. Oh and maybe a bit of a meet coming together for BLS on the 7th March if you're not into racing...watch this space;)
brassneck Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 hope y'all had a good day. you missed a top session plastering, painting and decorating my living room, it was sweet, spot on wind, sunshine. Managed to 'nail' up some plasterboard (been practising that one for ages but never managed a full sheet, kept bottling it on halves... but.. got it sorted now), top marks go to the ainsdale crew for showing me how to handlepass my hammer. will I ever see sand again.... is my living room refurb job ever going to end
CeeJay Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Oh and maybe a bit of a meet coming together for BLS on the 7th March if you're not into racing...watch this space;) Was on BLS over the weekend, was OK. just enough of a dry patch to get enough speed up for a jump each run comfortably. The dry bit should be getting bigger all the time now the weathers warming up. Would have come to the Dale but i'm permitless at the mo

Would have come to the Dale but i'm permitless at the mo Chris, will the tides be low enough on the weekend of Mar 7th ? ... I'm looking here for my data... http://www.pol.ac.uk/ntslf/tides/?port=0050 ? BTW permits are really easy to get these days - phone Gill on 0151 934 2967 - ask nicely and you can arrange for permit to be prepared via post/fax and be waiting for you to sign & pickup whenever the office is open - even Sundays
CeeJay Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Should be sweet Mike, WXtide is telling me 7.8m on the 7th which will be barely visible. Looks as though it won't have any tide on it for 4 days beforehand so provided we don't get much rain during the week we should have a huge beach to play on I sent my insurance details and permit form thru the post to Gill on Friday with a stamped addressed envelope so she can post it back to me, might have it for this weekend all being well.
SandMonster Posted February 23, 2009 Author Report Posted February 23, 2009 Thanks...that link I gave doens't seem to work on its own... I clicked on Heysham (red HL link) on this page which gives tides for the next 28 days ... http://www.pol.ac.uk/ntslf/tidalp.html
Bobby Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 10 degrees was enough to drag this piece of post-Xmas flab out of hibernation. Ace day yesterday, nice to catch up. Loved blasting down that skinny creek and out into that cool pool of a goon . Goon was cold but the sea was perishing . Wish I could have stayed out skimming along the waters edge but with no gloves and hood I was so cold. Noticed double digit temps appearing on the weather maps so not long now before we've med waters lapping the sands. Looking forward to a warm, windy season with lots of the same .
garykf Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 good to see you out and about again Bobby. Been a long time since I had a Sunday brunch beer;) Quite a few more of the old crowd down later on and even the old landboard got a dusting off:eek: looks like it could be a good year at the Dale
Bobby Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 Weekends nearly here and it's looking like Sundays the day. Big boards and big kites with only mid onshore teens (but XC's been way too conservative lately so it'll deffo be 20ish ). Loads of sunshine forecast but still not quite shorty weather so don't forget them hats and gloves. Best thing is high tides about 2 so in around 10 and it's infilling goons all day long .
