JohnDave Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Good news, looks like COBS is fixed at last! Wind in Wales this weekend, anyone heading out? Newborough or Rhossy look bang on!
SandMonster Posted August 23, 2008 Author Report Posted August 23, 2008 Catch Alex & the fleetwood crew on Granada Reports: http://www.itvlocal.com/granada/programmes/?player=GRA_Prog_15&void=226523 The Discovery Centre weather station is out of sevice. It's being relocated as it kept breaking down. Talking to Gill, she said it's been on her desk & she can point her fan at it occasionally if we want!
SandMonster Posted August 23, 2008 Author Report Posted August 23, 2008 Another nice little sesh when the wind picked up this afternoon (before the rain came down!)
SandMonster Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 Nice - glad to see you didn't get any of my faceplants! I've started a group on facebook for those who are into that sort of thing - not just kiting, but for all fans of the beach. I think you have to be logged into facebook for the link to work: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=35918851071 If not just search for "Ainsdale Beach"
PaulLaurie Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Cheers Mike, I Joined. Hoylake Lifeboat Day tomorrow (Monday 25th), Red Arrows are on at 2pm, good day out if weather ok and a good chance to donate a bit to an organization that some of us may need one day

mathers Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Looks like cobs is still down. Looks like its working but if u look at the date its not right.
Bobby Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Hi Dudes - back from my hols and aching for a bit of board time. Tried wind surfing whilst away - what a complete and utter bag of rubbish that was compared to a kite and a board (IMHO all you pole people ) - could have been of course that the daughter was better than me but fighting with that sail whilst dancing like a loony trying just to stand up just didn't seem to cut it for me. Looks good for tea time specials the next few days - XC is giving it onshore green and sunny symbols. Only prob is it's a long walk cos of that early evening big LT. Still, it's got to be worth it cos ball freezing temps are just round the corner .
brassneck Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 if it stays as predicted will be down for a 'not many light nights left' after work sesh tomorrow. Yep , looks a looooong walk , so will probably stick to the landboard....... would be dark by the time I have the gimp suit on and walked all that way out! Landboard will be there for a go if you fancy it bobby, see if you can do all 'wind' activities in less than a week.... pole dancin, landboard, buggy & surf:D
Bobby Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 See you there Rob - might bring my gear and my old rusty mbs comp 6 - one thing landboarding has over the wet stuff is you can have your music blowing out your ear drums as you scream along - that's so cool. Went down late the beach to watch the cool clouds - chilled out with maps in my ears and a beer in my hands. Pushed on a big lens to snap a few of them, when these "stealth crows" flew through - reminded me the Southport airshow is on this weekend - used to mean a ban on kiting over the 2 days or anyways until late after the show was done - (the way to early) forecast says Easterlies so might be Lligwy bound instead. http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/clouds.jpg
PaulLaurie Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 My memory could be wrong (Age, stupidity etc.!!) but I think last year there was no ban during the Air Show. I took some photos of someones arc with the Red Arrows in the background. Found the photo in my collection so either no ban or someone being naughty?
SandMonster Posted September 2, 2008 Author Report Posted September 2, 2008 No ban last year...we were flying 'with' the red arrows... Watch out for the dead whale tho http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/7594936.stm
