If you mean until you are insured.......

Fleetwood is good because of the close proximity of the Hangtime shop, parking and cafe although is small and restricted by wind direction (NW is onshore).

further round the coast to the North you got Knott End which is a big beach similar facing to Fleetwood.

A bit further North theres Middleton Sands near Heysham power station (massive) which is good in anything SW to NW and Bolton Le Sands (massive and scenic) good in SW.

Not sure about the beaches further south than Ainsdale, never had the need to.

NOTE: The beaches mentioned are very dependant on tide heights, check before making the journey ;)

Once they've cashed your cheque, you are insured I believe, but you got to have the docs to get the permit for the 'dale

Up at 7, dragged the daughter outta bed and spent the day at Newborough.

Had a great day on that cool beach, winds only up in the late teens but thats one chilled out cool place to be on a warm August day :).

Pebbly to kick off then sand and a big rocky bit in the middle. No goons but water was warm and clear.

ONly prob I had was kept coming in for a blowup on my leaky leading edge :( - cheers to Rob for the borrow of the pump (saw you end up right down the beach - hope you made it back dude :).)

Did the walk over to the island - maybe in a proper SEasterlie you could kite it round the headland.

Bit of a fishy view but best I could do with this point and shoot.

No flags, no permits, no hassle. Fly safe and sensible and this is one oasis of a kiting beach.

No wind at the home beach so hoping I can swing it cos Sunday looks nob on for a return visit.

Good to see ya Bobby down at Newbourough..... yep, did make it back (eventually!!), wasnt really enough wind for that 11 of mine, but kept fighting those waves and made it back eventually.

wind stayed around the low teens most of the day, but picked up a bit later on so managed some good runs on the goon.

hope you made it back over the weekend and found the goon (forms around mid to low tide, in front of where everyone sets up, just watch out for that rocky bottom).

Yep already penciled in the 27th and 28th - should be so cool all those Vdubs on the beach. Dad had a split screen camper when we were growing up, be a bit of a dream to get one. Found out you can still buy those motoring icons new - for £20,000+.

Taken tomorrow afternoon off - looking fantastic down the beach, big and decent onshore winds and a high tide round 11 - away then on hols till next week so looking forward to filling up on a good bellyful of stoke :):).

Bristol Kite Festival on 30/31 August for anyone who's into a chilled weekend of Kite and air creations. http://www.kite-festival.org.uk/

I want to do that one too Paul - are you camping at your usual site?

This weekend it looks like all the campsites in the morecambe bay area are either fully booked or a bit waterlogged & not taking bookings. The people we were going with are going to Anglesey instead - so that's where we're going too.;)

That's not looking good! Going there this weekend (Red Bank Farm, but have booked in advance). Is that one of the ones you tried?

And where is the best place (car park) to access BLS?

Koen.

Edit: Just seen the BLS thread...Red Bank Farm is full :-).

From what I recall you can leave your car on the camp site as the beach is just a few yards away. There is car parking at the side of the road too just before the entrance to Red Bank Farm. The best bit of the beach is accessed across a stream which gets a bit full when the tide is in. I recall a wading session a couple of years back :)

That's great news. I was wondering if I could start from the campsite! Last time I was there (before kite buggying) the tide came in right to the car park so I thought you had to access the dry bit somewhere else! I'll try to avoid the wading though...

Thanks for that info.

nah, starting from the campsite is not really an option unless we want a ban!! the road from the camp site to the beach although small and quiete is still a public road.

The tides are low this weekend meaning that they dont come all the way up the beach at all until they go higher than about 8.5m. On high tides the beach doesn't dry out sufficiently enough between tides to use at all. There is one small channel to cross but at most you will get damp feet.

Hope to see you down there :)

Chris,

I think Koen just means you don't have to drive from the campsite to the beach (you can just walk down with your buggy & kites etc.) ;)

Mike

hahaha, i read that as a buggy trek from the site to the beach!! :D
