SandMonster Posted July 21, 2008 Author Report Posted July 21, 2008 Hi Mike, Bank Holiday weekend is 23-34 August, not 30-31 as I originally thought by the way. Thanks for the help with untangling the lines after that tw*t drove over them, ripping the stake clean out and leaving my sister, who was packing up the kite, pretty shaken! Looks like the highest high tide @ Liverpool the week before is on the Weds morning of the 20th with the lowest on the Tuesday morning of the 26th - if the tides at BLS follow Liverpool, the beach might dry out by the weekend - or make a week of it Yeah the pillocks didn't seem to have a clue - didn't seem to be fishermen either as they just drove right on down the beach - fishermen usually stop by the far barrier.
mathers Posted July 25, 2008 Report Posted July 25, 2008 Whats happened to Cobs ? Think he might of had a scrap with AOSPKA and they are both out of action.
PaulLaurie Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 Oh how the wind did blow this weekend!!!, What did you lot do instead? RHS Tatton Park & British Touring Cars at Oulton Park for us. 2 Parks, some flowers, a superlambanana or two, some racing cars, a lot of sun one or two Guinness and sunburn to go
SandMonster Posted July 27, 2008 Author Report Posted July 27, 2008 lol...too much last week, not enough this:rolleyes: 2 birfday bbq's & a few beers (or more!) ... head now looks like this ====>
JohnDave Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Kite repair, tent repair & made jam (on the hottest day of the year - phew!). Need some weekend wind though
-james- Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 anyone up there tomorrow? might see if i can head up if the weathers nice.
Bobby Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 ...What did you lot do instead?... Just got back from Edinburgh. Went up for a few days to see Tom Waits - one brill gig and one brill city . Apologies if you dudes aren't fans, and I know it ain't kiting but a few piccies of this genius. http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/w6.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/w2.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/w1.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/w3.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/w4.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/w5.jpg Got mighty blotto on single malt and the city was hyper so close to fringe-madness and the Scots are so friendly. Took a slow wandering route coming back, wound our way through the Scottish borders. It's one sweet pretty country. ____________ I see Cobs could be down for a month . Gonna have to rely on that fool of a dude XC .
PaulLaurie Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 I'm so jealous, he's one of my all time favorites and only music hero I have never seen. I had no idea he was playing. God knows how I missed that one :(
SandMonster Posted July 30, 2008 Author Report Posted July 30, 2008 Can't stand him... COBS is broke.. probly that's why we're not getting the onshore winds:rolleyes:
PaulLaurie Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 COBS is broke.. probly that's why we're not getting the onshore winds:rolleyes: I'm off to Scotland for 2 weeks on Sat. so your gonna get perfect teen NWs till I get back. Only got a field to play on up there but I could always try kite surfing for 1st time on the loch. Mind you I'd have Vanguard submarines to contend with as it's Loch Long / Goil
Bobby Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Beautiful part of the world Paul - Dad and me used to fish on Loch Long. If I remember right (and it was a million years ago) it was the trawlers that used to nearly swamp our wee boat. Think we may have seen one sub - but how many of em things were just below us who knows. Maybe thats why we never did catch much . Envy you dude. ______________________ Might be a possible tea time treat tomorrow. Cobs seems back up in temporary mode and XC is giving it big kite weather. Might take a stroll down.
PaulLaurie Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Beautiful part of the world Paul - Dad and me used to fish on Loch Long. Think we may have seen one sub - but how many of em things were just below us who knows. Maybe thats why we never did catch much . Envy you dude. . LOL My Dad lives on Loch Goil which is just off Loch Long, plenty of subs around nowadays as it's our nuclear deterent base. (a number of dodgy diesel things, 3 vangaurd (carrying Trident) subs (only 1 at sea due to budget, 1 being painted and 1 having it's battery recharged and a load of other things that groups like to protest against.) Even so it's a beautiful part of the world and I'll be dining on fresh caught smoked fish and the most amazing scenery in the world for 2 weeks.
brassneck Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 grrrr COBS is blowing one way, XC is blowing the other, AOSPKC meter needs 50p putting in. could be onshore, could be off.... ahhrrgh.. what to do........ after work drive or hope those sunday winds are going to stay around ....
JohnDave Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Cobs is bust, prob best to see what XC is reporting now.
PaulLaurie Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 XC says Crosby 33-40 mph. should be a laugh this eve if you go:eek: Careful out there!
Stu-82 Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Hi. I wanna take a mate kitesurfing tomorow. There is no wind so its fairly safe. He would be just static flying with a bit of body dragging if he's feeling lucky. Is he ok to do this? I am all legal but he is not a kiter. Cheers
PaulLaurie Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Yeah I think he's ok, I could be wrong but I think permits are only required for wheels on the land.
Chris A Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Don't forget it's woodvale rally this weekend so will be busy on the roads
Stu-82 Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Cheers. To be honest i dont think the wind will even lift the kite. but i may give it a go anyway. I thought the same about it being legal so long as you dont use wheels or a board
SandMonster Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 Sorry, but I think you need permit for kitesurf too. http://www.aoskc.com/page.php?2 Another good weather site is http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=nwdc;sess= Looks like I'm gonna save my diesel this weekend...
brassneck Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 yep, pretty sure you need permit for water... even if it is just body draggin. didnt do last night... winds looked too nuke for me :-) too busy with housey stuff today but anglsey looks good for tomorrow.
Bobby Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Fair winds down there dudes - even though XC gave it only an 8. Must'av been pushing high teens when we left. Not loads when I hit the water but enough to feel buzzed up skimming over them goons, rotating and coming back toeside and carving for a real cool turn. Nowt special but it gives me a glow . Best thing bout it the blonde was watching and gave me a whistle - made my day . At a friends party tomorrow but the forecast looks OK tomorrow late (read XC and add 10), so hoping to stay sober(!) and maybe get down for a teatime treat.
SandMonster Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Hope it picks up a bit - we're popping down for an hour or two anyway
SandMonster Posted August 3, 2008 Author Report Posted August 3, 2008 Was definitely worth the trip - not much at first, but after Carl went home things started to pick up... even had to put the 8.5 away & get the manta out ;) : D
