Hi Guys!

I just wanted to share my entry into the cometition from powerkiter.fr - it's from my summer Holiday @Rømø, Denmark:

I'm up against some seriously hardcore kiters (Abe Alzouman and Kris Beech to name a few) so I could use some backup :-)

The more views the better, so I hope you enjoy it (And don't Watch too many of the compitetions) :-D

Oh a presentation of me and the video can be found here: http://www.powerkiter.fr/content/76-morten-klingenberg-landkite-video-contest

Awesome!  What a spot.  Do you get that much sand exposed during a normal low tide or do you need to wait for really low tides and/or 'dodge' tides (I think that's where the high or low tide is so similar to the previous peak/low that it appears to 'miss' a tide.  We get them at Kingston in January - the high tide may be 1.3m in the wee hours of the morning then it drops to .3m around dawn, but the next high may only be .5m and then it goes back down, effectively giving us a low tide for the entire day).

Here in Denmark the difference between high and low tide normally isn't much, so often it doesn't matter.

But in the case of Rømø you can never be sure it's not covered in water - especially if it has rained a lot or if the wind is pushing the water up on the beach :-)

But what you see in the video is what's normally accessible if it hasn't rained a lot or wind is pushing like crazy :-)

Thanks for the view and yes some happy smiles, nice weather (25 c is unfortunate not too common here in DK) and wind and lots of space - what's not to like :-D

I'll support ya!  That was a great video. Best of luck.

@m.klinge - with full apologies up front for asking a Dane about a Swedish thing, do you know what sort of kiting culture may exist in Sweden?  One sees quite a bit of wonderful footage of beach action in Denmark (like your great video) and a lot of great snow kiting in Norway, but I don't seem to see anything from Sweden.

I ask because I used to live in Stockholm. Back in the 80's there was quite a bit of parasailing going on on some small downhill ski hills around Stockholm but that's the extent of my knowledge.

Thanks @WindStruck - I don't think I'll make it to the top ten, but that's not stopping me :-)

I haven't been to either Norway or Sweden much (which puts me at a strange spot being a Dane), only twice to Norway to Red Bull Ragnarok and once to Sweden to part take in a Red Bull kitesurf crossing to Denmark and back. But from what I've seen and hear from the kiters in Copenhagen (which is just a bridge and a few kms away from Malmö) is that the Swedish kite scene is more similar to the Danish than to the Norwegian. So it's primarily kitesurfing going on :-)

I haven't come across any Swedish buggies or landboarders but they may be there :-)

That's one more view....

Massive bit of sand....... Too big to call a a beach

Haha yeah you got a point :-)

@jhn.holgate

On the topic of water on the beach there's roughly 1 meter right now due to strong winds in and around Denmark lately :-)

@m.klinge another view mate. Great stuff! How'd you mount the camera above your bar? The view seems to swing around.

Thanks - didn't make it the top ten though :-)

I mounted it using a clamp with the tripod mount, this way I have the freedom to turn it upside down like I did in the video :-)

I got one of those cheap "handle bar mounts" from ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Handlebar-Camera-Seatpost-Clamp-Roll-Bar-Mount-Mounting-Adapter-f-GoPro-Hero-2-3-/191144259635?hash=item2c8115f033:g:3AUAAOxyYANTcH09

Then the adjustable section broke (I have attached it to the trucks of my board) so I simply removed it and glued the tripod part directly to the clamp.

The rod is an old broomstick :-)

Sweet, thanks it's more how and where you attach it to the kite lines

Ahh sorry I read your question wonrg (Just tumbled out of bed) :-)

Took the easy way and purchased a (Second hand) Line Mount from CamRig: https://camrig.com/line-mount/hd2-gopro-line-mount/gopro-hd1-hd2-line-mount

The one for the gopro 1+2 fits the 3 and 3+ if you just shave off a weebit where the bolt goes through.

So it's basically just slapped on the center lines :-)

I does give nice perspective, but requires a lot of editing to counter the kite movement (Clearly evident in my video as I didn't do anything to rotate it) - and like all ways to mount the gopro it does get dull quickly - it's very nice for still pics though :-)

Yeah the gopro doesn't really work out as a kite cam - or if it's a kite where the y-split is way up towards the kite :-)
