Pari Posted November 25, 2012 Report Posted November 25, 2012 Hi Guys, After Andy's suggestion, I thought I would start this thread for anyone interested in checking out Kingscliff, NSW. I'm about 2 minutes from the beach, so most days the wind is onshore (ENE to N for Kingscliff, or E to ESE for just a couple of minutes over the river at Cudgen to Cabarita beach) I will be down there, knees permitting! I drive back from work and am on the beach by 5pm NSW time. The wind is looking good for the same place Jason and I where kiting this weekend, down by the camp ground/surf club at the south end of Kingy where it sweeps round to face northish. Nice open spot when the tides out. I'm probably going to be out, going on the current Seabreeze readings, Teus,Wed and Thursday this week, playing with the Speed 3:crazypilot:, and any weekend the winds are good (but I'm away this weekend) So I hope to see someone down here soon. Good winds! Quote
Pari Posted November 30, 2012 Author Report Posted November 30, 2012 the conditions are looking good for a kite at Kingscliff this weekend ( 1st Dec). I'll be out in the late afternoon 4/5ish. Anyone want to meet up? Quote
andy666 Posted November 30, 2012 Report Posted November 30, 2012 I would of been up for it, but I'm heading to Perth this weekend. Quote
jabroni Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 How'd you go? Was the wind direction useable? Quote
Pari Posted December 2, 2012 Author Report Posted December 2, 2012 I've had a pretty much perfect weekend. Out every day in the same spot, bottom end of Kingscliff. I'm absolutely knackered Monday morning, (and my knees),wiped out from long kite sessions Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Didn't get the Speed out though, a bit too much wind for me to risk it, but had lots of fun on the Frenzy and Blade. I hope you saw the invite in this thread. I figured if you could make it down you would have. How do go on the weekend? Quote
jabroni Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 Nice one. Yeah, I'd subscribed to the thread. No kiting for me on the weekend - was out pistol shooting on Sat, then shut down my aquarium on Sun. Quote
JKS Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Certainly got my attention Does it pack over the holidays ? Quote
Pari Posted December 4, 2012 Author Report Posted December 4, 2012 It's a bit hit and miss with the holiday traffic. It's not a terrible busy beach any time of the year, as Kingscliff is quite a small place, but there is a couple of holiday campsites right on the beach one at either end of Marine Parade. So you get a few more people than normally. Quote
Pari Posted December 10, 2012 Author Report Posted December 10, 2012 I got round to editing the last couple of weekends of kiting at Kingy. should give you guys who are interested in coming down some idea of the southern, north facing, little bit of the beach is like.(if I can get it to load!) jabroni Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 You need to post the youtube.com url... Here it is: Quote

Pari Posted December 11, 2012 Author Report Posted December 11, 2012 So are any of you guys coming down to Kingy today? Quote
JKS Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 I think the tyrants are hitting bribe now mate .... Quote
Pari Posted December 11, 2012 Author Report Posted December 11, 2012 Thanks. I got into work early so will be out work and at Kingy by 3pm NSW time. Quote
sluggo Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 Pari i'm 90% sure we are heading south , so will see you there . Quote
JKS Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 The old prick finally made it to 70 Quote
jabroni Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 It was a good day - covered about 50km... The forward facing camera is the Hero3. Quote
sluggo Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 It was a fantastic session . The only low point is the end of Jab's video . Brake line had caught on the bloody gopro mount and kite powered up and rotated a dozen times or so . Got yanked over the front end and caught my legs on the footpegs . I should have just kicked the gopro off and all would have been good . Apart from that like i said great day new PB of 70.2 Clocked up 62ks Discovered a beach that is wider and safer than Skirmish , only a tad over an hour from my door . Has a pub at one end of it , a tap at the other end ( i will take a hose next time and wash the buggy down before putting it on the roof of the car ) Not many people on the beach but easily avoidable anyway . Short video to follow Quote
Pari Posted December 13, 2012 Author Report Posted December 13, 2012 Yes, it's looked good. looks like i missed out. Should have skipped Balina and just gone to Kingy. I didn't have a very good time in the end. But was thinking that it was gonna be to southerly for me on the board. But from the vid I might have been alright. Next time Yes it's a great beach the other side from Kingy. I like it more than the Kingy side cause it's straight, long and as you say not many people ever on there, maybe a few just infront of where Salt is. But that's it. So ESE days are fun fun fun. Quote
Goz Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 Nice one Jabroni, beach looks nice and clean, has a bit more space for playtime as well. Looks like the Unity is doing well as a buggy engine. Was Sluggo doing his helicopter impersonation there at the end? Quote
jabroni Posted December 13, 2012 Report Posted December 13, 2012 Looks like the Unity is doing well as a buggy engine. Yeah, I like it - exactly what I was after. An all round kite that fills the gap between light wind and crazy wind. The vapor had a huge lead going upwind, and a bit going downwind. The only time the unity took the lead is when the wind swung more cross shore - when sluggo started outrunning the vapour, I could still park and ride downwind. Was Sluggo doing his helicopter impersonation there at the end? I thought he was mucking around in the soft stuff to start off with. Hope the knee is not too bad! Quote
Pari Posted December 14, 2012 Author Report Posted December 14, 2012 Looks like condition might be alright for tomorrow (Saturday 14th Dec). Tide out and south Kingscliff should be good to go. Any takers? Quote
