Bones Posted November 9, 2013 Report Posted November 9, 2013 It sure is hot standing around out there. I launched Jo's kite, and by the time I got mine out the wind had gone. Jo had a higher average speed than me, and if it weren't for a minute or so of breeze while I had my 8.6m kite out she would have had a higher top speed as well. As for that minute... Quote
gum-nuts Posted November 9, 2013 Author Report Posted November 9, 2013 OBE! How fast were you going then? Looked at decent pace? Are you ok, hope there were no injuries? Quote
Bones Posted November 9, 2013 Report Posted November 9, 2013 I hit 43km/h there, but the kite was behind, so slowed me down before I hit the ground. Most of the speed when I reached the ground was from swinging sideways and I was able to run it out. That is why I like wearing running shoes. Due to the low wind I was often only holding onto one handle to give me more turning leverage (I have a long strop on that kite). I let go of the bottom handle there to bring the kite up, but due to the speed I was going the kite was a lot more responsive than I expected and I needed the other handle to stop it going too far. I will remember this mistake next time. Quote
trot Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 Hi guys, Good to finally catch up with you . It was a good day on sunday and managed to get some good footage of you boys , also got footage of my OBE and the buggered tyres hence the title. Take care guys Trot Quote
gum-nuts Posted November 14, 2013 Author Report Posted November 14, 2013 Wind doesn't look to good Sunday morning, will go if it improves a bit - but not too much as the Method and Flow have gone and the 6m Access is on its way . So all I have to play with at the moment is the 10m Manta! Trot, I haven't had chance to watch the vid yet but will try this evening! Quote

trot Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 Hi guys , Good day t the playground 16 / 18 k winds east so got some good runs in in my last run of the day went from the very top of the lake to the carpark at 35k just about the entire length . Brought a new etrex 10, hands down better than the magellan 600 and it was only $70 , So can now keep a track of kite size, wind speed and max and average speeds. Very pleased with it. Happy kiting Dudes Trot Quote
gum-nuts Posted November 16, 2013 Author Report Posted November 16, 2013 I'm planning on late morning (8-8.30, late for me) as it should be enough to get the manta moving... But will play it by ear... Quote

Wind looks ok for Sunday morning but not for the new kite You're going to love the 6m access, I've got one and lately it's been my most used kite, not as quick as a FB but far more versatile. Your right its was gusty this morning and probably a bit close to the bottom end of the wind range but the Access was great - absolutely loved it . Just uploading the video now. Quote
gum-nuts Posted November 24, 2013 Author Report Posted November 24, 2013 just added a short video from this morning... http://www.extremekites.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=17922&view=unread#unread Quote
trot Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Hi gum-nuts, Just wanted to ask about the side rail extensions you had made for your buggy. Did you get the work done locally or did you go to a speciality shop and second what length were your extensions. Trot Quote
gum-nuts Posted November 29, 2013 Author Report Posted November 29, 2013 It was done by Alan at Crisp engineering... http://crispengineering.net.au/ An extra 15cm (as that's how much longer the official PL extended frames are) and because of where he put them I gained some extra height, which means I sit between the rails a bit more. Pictures here... http://baldiviskitebuggy.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/ive-been-officially-pimped.html Quote
