I did something similar to this a few years ago when doing my teaching (C&G 7307) qualification. I started by showing a small diamond shaped kite (my sons who was 5 at the time) and then unrolled my 4.9 Blade and got another group member to hold the other end while I explained what I did. My tip to you is to do something similar as the most memorable part to the other group members was the visual aspect of me displaying my kite. Hope this helps Mick

Forget that idea, there will be a lot of added drag due to driveshafts etc when not being engine powered. Kite is the main source of power, eco friendly etc. I do believe that this is what is needed to get back upwind. Lighter, and perfect to fit onto a buggy. Hi there My favourites are the Advance offroads for buggying. I find the 3.8 probably the best "allrounder". They are stable, very well made and generate hardly any lift at all. Of course, there is always the Blade for those moments of madness. I have the B2 4.9. I got lofted from my buggy the other week. Funny how there's always a crowd watching when it all goes wrong. Mick

Just a thought from a different angle....... Be aware that you will have to store and transport whatever you get somehow. If you buy one of the "smaller" buggys you will be ok with a cycle rack on your car. Bigger race type buggys with wider axles are a different matter... Similar issues with storage to consider as well. Mick

You ok there Ben? I'm from Ruskington. I sometimes fly at the local playing field. I used to go to Mabo a fair bit, but......... To be honest, I haven't been out as much this year due to other commitments. I'm doing a degree in computer sciences and trying to work and pay the mortgage as well. All good fun though. Advance Offroad kites have serial numbers on them. Not sure about the rest of the range.

With all of these people coming, some might actually enjoy what they do. If that is the case, then the sports should be banned from happening. Why should people enjoy their own sports when we get criminalised for enjoying our environmentally friendly hobby? Sorry, rant over. Got a point though..... Mick

I have a 3.8 and a 5.4, both on handles. I find them easy to buggy and board with. As mentioned earlier, there is hardly any lift produced by these so you do have a chance at staying in the buggy, unlike with my blade 4.9 . Quality is excellent. I would recommend them for ease of use and stability, but probably not if you want to race and definitely not for jumping/ more extreme activities. Mick

Its good to see how a well run organisation works. At least there is no bickering between the members or comittee??????? Reading things like this really p*ss*s me off. The bottom line is that we are all power / traction kite flyers whatever medium we use to operate in / on. I have read of bans for both buggies and kitesurfers around the country. Surely it would make sense to all sing from the same hymn book for once and protect everyones interests? After all, there is plenty of beach and sea around the country for us ALL to enjoy. BTW, we might be an unruly lot in our wind powered chariots, but I'm sure its better than smashing places to bits and fighting like the f**tb*llers seem to do? W*nk*rs. That really should be made illegal. Rant over. Mick

Thought for the day... In every sport there are total w*nk*rs, football seems to have more than its share so it is welcomed everywhere. The majority of kiters are respectable, polite and not wanting to disturb or injure anyone. (I did say the majority) That is the very reason for the multitude of bans. It is quite unlikely that any of the officials are going to be harmed in some way. Please recruit some ..................... Sorry, but..... Mick

Thanks for the reply Woodsy I'm not a kitesurfer myself, more buggying and landboarding. By the sound of it I will be taking the Blade 4.9. Might try and blag a go with a surfboard though. I will try growing up when I get home. Mick

I saw a very impressive kitesurf program on the extreme sport channel on friday. The downside of this was the footage of a very high and impressive looking manlift over the sea. Let's hope no newbies try this trick. We already have enough bans.

Good game Mr J. I read other posts elsewhere on these forums about towing buggies with cars, Jumping stupid heights with kites and flying with big kites in silly winds. To be honest, most of us are not quite in fitting with the norm of society because we do things a bit differently. I saw these articles and admire their originality. As I said, it is a bit off topic, but hope it makes a few of us smile. BTW, Loony posted it in the first place. Do I win??

Have a look at the windseekers site. Link in my sig. They sell Bluearth boards. From what I've seen, they are ok, but skate trucks are not as sturdy as channel trucks. Should be ok if you don't want to do anything too radical. Mick

Mabo is about halfway between Skegness and Grimsby. Thanks for the pics. I do like the wheels as well. I have put a small mudflap on my mudguard as it was just too short. I found some labels made from a similar material to commercial splashguards at work. A couple "fell off". Regards to all across the pond! Mick
