  1. Curious. I thought your wheel nuts had come loos too (as mine have done in the past ) Can't imagine why your side rail bolts would come loose, just try giving them an extra crank when you get some more I'm not sure what it's like on the Vmax but on the Sysmic (or the S1 at least) the end of the axle bar is threaded and the bolt just winds through into the axle cavity. So if the bolts where "too long" you just keep winding them till the head is flush and end up with the "excess" thread protruding through inside the axle, out of sight and out of mind . As it is they come with surprisingly long bolts (probably a full inch longer than necessary) and this excess just pokes through to the inside of the axle quite happily. But it's a moot point given Bones has an issue with different bolts altogether
  2. Well, not quite that much (Briskites sell HQ lines new for $90 and handles for $40) -but I know what you mean. I know $150 ain't much compared to how much they cost new but the kite has been superseded by the Toxic and Chris Italy only just got $180 for 2 CrossFires (a 2m and a 3m, both complete with lines, handles and bags): viewtopic.php?f=18&t=16926 If you think I'm ripping off a newbie by offering $150 then by all means advise him against it (I wont be offended), or even come in over the top of me and buy it for the $200 he's asking But given no one on here showed any interest in Chris' kites the other week (other than my vague encouragements) I think it's doubt fill the OP will get much more. Who knows I have also offered an exchange for some more suitable beginner kites as he originally requested a year back.
  3. Will you take $150?
  4. That's annoying. The rear axle on my bug is held in by 6 bolts (and 6 'acorn nuts') and they are so close together you can't fit the ring of the ratchet spanner over the bolts so you have to use open enders on both ends. Even more annoying though is that while all 6 of those nuts are 17mm only 5 of the bolts are :grrr: - for some reason one of my bolts is a little smaller . I found I can just use the same spanner but have to be very careful with it as the bolt is quite loose in the jaws. I figured it was just an anomaly made especially for me so didn't mention it before. If it gets too annoying I guess I'll just replace that 'runt' with a decent 17mm bolt, but unlike you I hopefully won't be undoing the axle too many more times. Guess you'd be able to replace all 4 of your bolts with decent 17-ers if you wanted.
  5. I'm pretty sure it is. It definitely is on the S1 and I believe I used exactly the same spanner when helping Jason (from Briskites) set up his S2 at Kingston. Is that the rear bolt on the bottom of the "swan-neck plates" you're talking about? I find the top two are fairly easy to get to as is but the bottom two (and particularly that rear one) take a bit of cussing to get tight. A trick I've found is to tilt the whole buggy up and if you rest the front wheel on your forehead you'll have good access to those underside bolts. If you're on a lake you may want to do this before bolting on the rear wheels. You feel a little silly with a kite buggy balancing on your head but it gets the job done The other option is to flip the whole buggy over and work on the bottom bolts with the bug upside down but I find it's enough to just balance the bug on me noggin and crank it with a ratchet spanner
  6. Still keen!
  7. What did Mr Holgate beat you to? If you put your phone into "aeroplane mode" (GPS still works in aeroplane mode) and turn off the screen you should get a good amount of battery life, something in the order of a day or two. Any smart phone should have at least a 1000 mAh battery and the newer ones have more like 2000, which is plenty to run a GPS app. I haven't tried this app in particular but I use MyTracks a fair bit and if I shut everything else off I get several days out of a fully charged battery.
  8. 13 minutes is really good. Can't say I've ever timed myself but I dare say I would be pushing 1/2hr, and that's even with a friend. I bought a set of ratchet ring spanners from Super Cheep Auto and tell you what, that 17mm spanner makes tightening those swan-neck bolts so much more pleasant: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... escription
  9. Does any one know how to embed this link: https://picasaweb.google.com/1006531331 ... 1406630482 The video is clearly hosted on YouTube but the link itself is from Picasa. I've been trying for a while but just can't work out how to do it.
  10. If you're finding it hard to read here's a link to the post on the official site where it can be read in plain text: http://www.27bslash6.com/halogen.html
  11. Wow, you must buggy pretty hard! Personally I would list myself as "Watching two people play tennis" as it would be similar
  12. Looks like another perfect weekend for Goolwa is upon us: 10kn Southerlies, 0.30m tide Anyone else in???
  13. One hour to go... Quick someone, save me from my self
  14. Now that looks really good! I take it you put your snatch block over the latch then 'oval' the tube to close the latch and when the tube springs back to round it holds the latch closed. Then, if the kite were to pull hard enough, it would deform the tube and release automatically? Is that how it works? It looks like you'd even be able to adjust the 'trigger threshold' by tightening that bole to give the 'ovaling' a head start. I LIKE IT!
  15. From what I can gather messages sit in your "Outbox" till the recipient reads them. Only once they've been read do they seem to move to your "Sent messages".
  16. That does look promising. The best setup I've seen though is the "Cone and Balls" setup. Someone on this forum posted some very good photo's of it but unfortunately the post was lost in the tsunami a few weeks ago. Here's an image courtesy of Google: No idea how you actually make them though.
  17. Here's a site selling them with a bit of a review and some photos: http://www.bigmikeskites.com/VTT/BuggyR ... yRack.html No indication of what shipping would be though.
  18. This topic has come up a few times in the past, so if you search you will be rewarded My pick of the entry level bugs is the Zebra. There the same price as the PL Comp-II/XR+ and in my opinion much better. Second hand, well there are usually a steady trickle of PL Comp-II/XR+'s passing through the "For Sale" section, though I'm yet to see a Zebra rear it's head in there. If you do end up deciding to go for a PL buggy don't give the standard/ST any mind, make sure you get a Comp-II/XR+. It's doubt full anyone would try to sell you a PL ST but it's worth being aware they exist, even if it's just to make sure you steer well clear of them So my advice, if you buying new defiantly consider getting the Zebra over the PL but if your after a second hand buggy I dare say you'll only be able to find PL bugs. If you do end up opting for a second hand buggy really, the Comp-II/XR+ is a fine bug.
  19. I'm not interested my self but posting your pictures will surely help your sale. You know, 'composite axles' sounds good but photo's of 'composite axles' will make people drool
  20. I don't mean to tell you how to suck eggs, but did you try 'Alt +Enter'? If your still struggling download DosBox. It's really good, and definitely does full screen. And for those interested, CCS64 is a good emulator for the Commodore 64.
  21. I reckon. It's FRIKKIN HILARIOUS!!!
  22. The BBC revamped H2G2 recently and ran a "Hitchhiker Adventure Game Picture Competition" where fans sent in artworks for each scene to be used in the game. The result was a pretty faithful rendition of the original. It's worth checking out if you have a little time to kill: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/game.shtml
  23. Yeah, they would have to be way cheaper than "kite-killers" and so much more usefull. I mean, you'd be able to use them as a coffee coaster Edit: Hope that didn't come across as being too rude
  24. I agree $500 is a bit steep but a new one would actually cost a little more. The 6.5m HQ Toxic (which is what the HQ Crossfire was replaced with) now costs $555.
