havent been doing much with the buggying.... hopefully that will change soon.. have been keeping an eye on your lake each time i go past, is it losing any water??? need to find a spot close to bunbury where we can get out and have a decent thrash.... for us, our best times have been while visiting my folks out at wyalkatchem, big open paddocks and gutloads of wind... shall catch up at somestage and have a fly.. goodwinds to ya... team squid 0429 858 007 -
hey guys, just picked up this thread and thought we would try offer some input.... as far as the landboarding goes, i guess the only i guy i have actually met is darren, at australian kiteboarding school... as for ourselves, we ride a well known buggy that we picked-up from the east coast.. we havent met any other kiters, although i think we may have inspired a few people to have a closer look.... as most of you would know, theres something about having a big colorful sail in the air that draws attention and curious people do tend to come and say hello and ask all sorts of questions. as far as local areas for the landboards, i guess you would be more adaptable than with buggies... graham, you are right... sandy beaches are the norm over here. im not sure how much grass is too much grass for you fellas on the boards, but as steve said open up google earth and have a look around the Joondaulp area. its about 35km north of the cbd, and at the end of the freeway.... surrounding the lakes is an area known as Yellagonga Regional Park... i have not taken the buggy theres asyet, but would like to at some stage... im sure you could find a spot in there to have a play....f if you want something closer to the cbd, i would suggest try Langly Park... this is a lovely grassed area right in the heart of the city, and runs along the banks of the Swan River...you certainly get some good wind thru there, a good indication is when you see the amount of boats with sails on the river.... further west of the cbd, towards the coast, you have an area known as Floreat... lovely lovely place to live if you can afford it... this area has some large grassed sporting ovals and general parkland that would prove good ground, with the only problem i wouls see is the lay of the land and the amount of big trees around the edge.. im not sure, but i would guess the winds in this area to be turbulent, but i think that could be of minor concern, considering the size of the area.....down to the south, there are some fellas that buggy on thr Rockingham Lake system, and we have have recieved intvitation to join them, but have not yet taken up this offer. i think this area would be more a summer spot, as we drove past recently and the lake is holding water... get intouch with members "ilovemyvanmost" and "bill_gill85" for more info on this area.... it is further away than the previous two spots, but still do-able for a good ride.. as for us.... me and deb, (kiter_grrl), tend to head out of perth into the farming areas for our buggy fun... and what buggy good fun it is too! its great to be able to get out in big paddocks and just go.... make sure you know where the gates are so you can pre-open, them and just keep going... this kind of riding we do seak permision for, as it is private property and you are riding around someone's livelihood.... now one last thing.... depending on how serious you are about having a good session, why not checkout Kambalda and Lake Lefroy... massive salt lakes in this neck of the woods.. very popular with the land-sailing scene, you would be looking at aproxx 650km from perth... in the goldfields, south of Kalgoorlie.... im sure you find people with directions to the sailing site at the local tourist bureau... just be aware, these are bigg lakes... ive worked on some this year where you cant see the other side... for anyone doing this kind of buggying, landboarding, all i can say is be prepared... you get out to the middle, everything looks the same... take a compass... or maybe one of those new-fangled-gps-thingies.....oh, and before you go...get in touch with us and see if we wanna come too!!! i guarentee it would be epic! we have just returned from a three week camping trip to the Ningaloo coast.... north-west w.a. is beautiful! fishing, kiting, camping, buggying... we done the bugger! anyone know of any jobs going??? hmm back to the search...hope this info is of help to someone.. regards, team SQUiD

just bringing an old topic back into the lime-light.... it appears that all comments made in regards to the ozone access' have been made in regards to MK1 and MK2. well a couple of years have passed, and not we are in 2008 and have the accessXC.. same questions though, does anybody have any input/knowledge they can share in regards to these kites... i know myself i am interested in the 6m and i know others here that would be keen to find out more also... Goz, if you get a chance to fly one, let me know how it goes!! Lickedy, if you get a chance, would love to hear of your experiences, i got your p.m. and appreciate the advice.. you mentioned that your your girl flys yours, may i ask if you rekon its a good option for feather-weight learner? regards to all, Team Squid
-

heya Nas, just a question about setup on this kite..is it flown on a bar, or on straps/handles? only got 5 mins before im back to work, so i thought it would be easier to ask rather than go look it up for my self...apologies for being a lazy so-n-so......whats the pull power like? and in your opinion would it be safe to place in the hands of a very keen learner??? regards, squid
-
ashley, is this kite still for sale? regards, squidrun
-
hi guys, just trying to find a secondhand kite for buggying with, looking around the 3-4m mark. would love to hear from you if you have something you may want to offload. regards squid

in all seriousness andy, your implied recreational drug use is of none of my concern. it would also appear that the safety of yourself and your passengers SHOULD be of no concern of mine either. have fun, enjoy.
-
are you serious andyfly? about driving with your kids and the buggy in the back of the fairlane??? wat if something goes wrong??? they rekon a tissue box flying thru from the back parcel shelf is enuff to do serious mischeif in an uncontrolled situation...... i seriously hope you are not serious.... seriously concerned... Team Squid
