Hippy Tim Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 A little more wind would have been nice, but at least it was onshore. And I didn't crash my kite in any puddles at all (or have to take home 7.8m² of sodden sand-covered ripstop ). Oh, and it couldn't have been any sunnier. Warmer than it was at BRS last weekend! http://farm1.static.flickr.com/185/393254398_8578d01830.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/164/393256443_585e42ba62.jpg

(Carl, Nolan, John, Tim) Great day today, and I am really looking forward to the BBQs in summer with our resident minstrels providing the music just as the sun goes down...Nolan and Tim:) Few wet kites today but didnt spoil the fun, even got photo evidence of Tims blade touching the briney....link above:p
nolan Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Some crackin' pics, mate. I'd love a copy of the disc from BRS.
nolan Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Guys, XC is forecasting big Southerlies that'll hopefully stick around. BRS next weekend anyone? I thought I'd post this now to give everyone chance to get organised. I'm keeping lots of things crossed that the forecast is correct. Not long before the ban so let's make the most of it.
garykf Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I'll be there if it stays southerly:)
nolan Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I'll be there if it stays southerly:) Nice one, mate. Anyone else fancy a trip out? Saturday would be best for me, but I'll do Sunday if the forecast's better.
wurzel Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 wish i could:( ,but i cant......going tomorrow instead:D
popeyethewelder Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Hi Guys hope you dont mind me jumping in here, I, and a few friends are hoping to do an Ainsdale trip within the next 3 weeks, maybe come up on the friday afternoon, and go home Sunday morning....I have heard today you have to get a membership from the ranger, I have the phone number now and will ring tomorrow, to find those details out. Can any of you guys help out with any other info we need to know of....like can we drive and or camp on the beach, if not where is the best place to camp or get B&B close by, what are the best wind directions there or dosnt it matter, are there any race days we should avoid etc etc any info will be Helpful. Pm's or emails to popeyethewelder@gmail.com be good to meet up with some of you guys from the west side regards Carl
wurzel Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 hi carl you can drive onto the beach, access to the kite zone is easy and convenient.watch out for the highest tides, the beach is usually closed for a few hours. camping is not permitted on the beach, bar-b-ques are fine. you'll get the full rules when you get your permit so i'll not bore you with them now:rolleyes: there are quite alot of places around southport for camping. depends wot your camping in!..i'm not a resident of southport/ainsdale, so someone else may be able to help there. as for events etc.. big jon usually has all the info on that score. plenty of room at ainsdale for those big bugs:)
nolan Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 wish i could:( ,but i cant......going tomorrow instead:D Oh I wish I could be there to see the look on your face!! You're gonna love it. I just hope that the full moon hasn't caused the beach to be anything other than flat. It's usually like a table top, but after a full moon it can get a bit bumpy.
big-jon Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Popeye - PM sent - will begood to see you guys up at our little beach. I did not mention B+B's but there are loads in Southport, I think Pontins is shut but you may want to check their website out as well, just to chck.

I'd hate to miss you when you come to play 'round our end. If you ring the rangers they'll arrange a time for you to come and sort out your permit. When you turn up they'll have the permit ready, and they'll just take a copy of your insurance. As for wind direction, anything around a NW is best. If it's Easterly, forget it. It'll have more lumps than a teenager's face.
wurzel Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 ..gone way beyond caring wot the surface is like..dont expect to be spending too much time on it:D ...summers getting closer, they'll probably shut it a week early...and if the island of los palma collapses into the atlantic the resulting tsunami will completely wipe out brs:rolleyes: ..so i had best get there while i can;)
popeyethewelder Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Thanks Guys thats a great help....will keep you posted
SandMonster Posted February 19, 2007 Author Report Posted February 19, 2007 I'll be there if it stays southerly:) Nice one, mate. Anyone else fancy a trip out? Saturday would be best for me, but I'll do Sunday if the forecast's better. if there's some wind, I'll be down...
popeyethewelder Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Well after trying many times this morning, I got through to some young gurlie who said "arrrh you need Pete Gahan", who was out.... rang back after a few hours and spoke to Pete, who said "arrrh you need to speek to Gordon White" who was out, he then said maybe you should speak to Racheal Northover I think.... or Jill Farrel....both of these people were not in either....so I really didn't get anywhere today. I was told if I hadn't had a responce by Thursday to ring back... We are looking at 9th,10th 11th of March, the buggying day being the 10th. regards Carl
big-jon Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Gill/Jill is the one who actually issues the permits carl. That weekend will be a good one for the beach, although most of the racers from Ainsdale will be over at Hoylake for the National series, but if the wind is good you will get a lot of the other regulars there. That is my birthday weekend, I was going to race but I am not sure at the moment.
carltb Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 im working in workington this week so i think ill give allonby beach a try. if i get back for the weekend ill probably see y'all at brs.

Have you got a postcode of the nearest place to the Rangers hut, for sat nav purposes, also any close by B&B numbers would be handy bearing in mind I will have a trailer with me, if I have a few B&B numbers close by each other, than that would be a great help as I can pass them onto anyone else who wants to stay over. Thanks Jon you have been a great help Carl
