mathers Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Anyone know if the rangers will let us play late aft?
Bobby Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Went down this afternoon and there was ksurfers out training. Spoke to a ranger - no problem in the rest of us kitesurfing if the blo karters are packing up. The event finished about 4 today. Was a cool sunset .
garykf Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 fleetwood could be on the cards tomorrow if the wind stays true, finished off with a later session at Ainsdale. John: you up for a Fleetwood sesh?
JohnDave Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Still working on the Van Gary, nearly there, hoping to be done by lunch so may shoot up to Starr Gate for low tide mid afternoon. Drop us a text if you fancy a lift.
carltb Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 im going knott end tomorrow for a land sesh. beach is big and dry
SandMonster Posted March 22, 2009 Author Report Posted March 22, 2009 If I get organised I may just call in at the shop to see who's around...
Bobby Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 Dudes, you should'av come the local beach - it was perfecto . Didn't get there till 3.30 with a few others but the blo pepes had well packed up. Wind was 20ish WNW and was well powered on the 13. Just felt so good carving fast between big sets of waves trying to pull a 720...and never doing one . Had a big grin fitted though. At the end was all on my lonesome watching the sun sink blasting along a mega wide goon :). Had a couple of shandys but gonna bring the bbq soon - a sausage and bacon bap would have gone down a treat. I've not been to many other ks spots but unless they've free blondes and free beer this home beach will do for me .
garykf Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 John and I did Star Gate, great spot and only us two on the water at the end of the day as the sun was setting. Set me up for the week good and proper........now I,m on the hunt for a VW van also:eek:
Lolage Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 Ainsdale is 2 hours from us down here, so wondering what the beach is like? Any restrictions during summer? Any other bits of info we should need? Good for landboarding/buggying? Thanks!
JohnDave Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 Top day that was, blown away some cobwebs. Was only in a summer wettie and wasn't cold, must mean summer's almost here! Lolage. You need insurance, and you need to show it to the rangers and get a permit from them. Ring the rangers office and ask For Gill. There's some rules and regs but nothing out the ordinary to worry about. Beach is huge, loads of space for land stuff even at high tide. Low tide can be a walk for the water, but well worth it, loads of lagoons form. Get to the beach entrance by pontins and turn left, parking charge during the summer.

Any other bits of info we should need? Good for landboarding/buggying? Thanks! Ainsdale's good for landboarding, buggying, kitesurfing, blokarting, stolen car driving, dogging, anything goes... Seriously tho, teh latest rules copied here: http://community.flexifoil.com/showpost.php?p=1922441&postcount=3052 Phone the rangers office (0151-934-2967) if you've got any further questions & to arrange a permit if you've not got one already (You'll need to speak to Gill who looks after all the permits & will sort everything for you)

QUOTH Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Hello all. Anyone remember me? I'm glad to see this thread is still going strong. So I have a favor to ask Cheeky, I know. I've found a second hand 16m venom II for sale and the seller really recomends I try something similar first so I; A) Know if i like it. B) Am safe. C) Learn how to use it properly. Would a Kind soul who lives near Warrington [between Manchester and Liverpool, WA2 0BF] be able to take me out on a low wind day and give me a depowerable arc lesson? So you know I'm 21, 6'2 and mainly use a 7.2 blade 2. I think Ainsdale is out of the question though as I have only just sent off for my insurance [i'm assuming one needs insurance to static fly]. So yeah, thanks in advance. Hopefully I'll be seeing you all on the beach soon. And apologies in advance, I have a terrible memeory for everything, especially names. Q aka Jonathan EDIT: I'd prefer to try inland somewhere as I am waiting for insurance to come through, plus I would like to see how they take gusts. But beggers can't be choosy

Q aka Jonathan Hi Jonathon, I remember you from a while back - you've been very quiet (compared to what I remember was a post-a-minute reputation back then! ) Loads of ARC flyers on Ainsdale incl. me will be happy to give you a lesson - just need to turn up on the beach at the same day lol.

Grr, last post of that page.... Thanks. What can I say, I was young and excitable And anyway more than half of those posts where in the blu bar, so I wasn't bothering anyone. Thanks, the offer is truly appreciated. Can I static fly at ainsdale without insurance or not? I've only just posted my check to BPKA... I quit for a while. I'm planning to hit the beach and get my permit the day my insurance arrives [and theres low wind] so I can finally learn to use my land board. Q
carltb Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 static flying is ok without a permit, but imo everybody should be insured anyway!!
Bobby Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Another classical spectacular dude - full of pomp and circumstance - teeming with hope and glory . Don't tell us you're getting cultured . If you squirt in the National Anthem on the next one - does that mean I have to stand to watch em' . Off camping for the next few days. Weather looks great for kiting - craap for camping .
carltb Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 HA AHA. have u seen the film V FOR VENDETTA well thats where i knicked it from. thought it sounded pretty cool plus ive heard the violin bit in a rap tune i liked
Bobby Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Don't you try and wriggle out of it dude . We all know you've just taken out a subscription to 'The Classics' monthly, bought yourself a piano, and hope Peter Lynn name their next range of kites 'Beethoven', 'Schubert' and 'Tchaikovsky'.
QUOTH Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Nice vid carl. hopefully that'll be me after a few years practice as I'm going down the arc route. Sadly gotta learn to walk before trying to run And yup, insurance is in the post.
Lolage Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Is it just me or does Ainsdale look as if the sand is always wet? Is this just me? Ive only watched vids....
big-jon Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Thats the vids! Trust me it is not always wet, unless on a hot summers day you want to go through a water splash or float around near the ship-wreck which is a good buzz as well!! In the Summer, on a hot day with the barbies going and some very nice local eye-pleasing local landmarks walking around there aint many places better!
