Bobby Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 ...Was met by the Coastguard at Skeggy who wanted to check we weren't immigrants:eek:... A mate said the going rate is about £200 - squeeze a few on board dude, you could make a fortune John. Love the idea of a bit of smugglin', lights out, no noise, sneakin' past the law in the dead of night , real nineteenth century stuff, cept. these days they got that radar thing, takes all the fun out of it . ...Pooly's van is in worse contition that this:rolleyes:... lol dude Great piccies John, should be compulsory to post a snap with each post - something to get the mind back to a beach and push the clock round on these non-kiting days.
kitegirl Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Fraisy Sunday for me Hey is Carl999 still around?? Haven't seen or heard of him fa aaaages..
MessianicDreams Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Hi guys, I'm looking for Liverpool-based kiters. Unfortunately I don't have a car at the moment and getting out on public transport is a pain - I've been to Ainsdale a few time but its a bit of a walk from the train station to the beach with landboard and kit in tow! So if anyone would be up for giving me a lift when they go kiting, in exchange for some petrol cash and thrilling conversations, please let me know! I figured I'd post in this thread as I'm sure there must be some Liverpudlians who fly at Ainsdale!
PaulLaurie Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Fraisy Sunday for me And me I hope! Carl999 is around but not kiting at the moment I believe.
kitegirl Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 Fraisy Sunday for me And me I hope! Carl999 is around but not kiting at the moment I believe. Brilliant Paul, will be good to see you again. Dont be bringing Neil to cramp my style though
Bob Monkhouse Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 Eh up. Might have a look down to Fraisy one day this weekend too if its still looking stronger than Redcar. Don't think I've ever kitesurfed there ?
PaulLaurie Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 I see Ainsdale water quality got a 'Basic Pass' could be worse I suppose
Match Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 There was a long presentation at the last beach consultative committee meeting about the results of last years water quality tests, and its not as bad as it sounds. Many of the UK's beaches scored lower last year than previous years due to the excessive rainfall we experienced. I can't remember how many tests are taken at each beach, but they can only read below a certain level on a few occasions to cause a 'Basic Pass' report. During persistent heavy rainfall the storm water drains overflow and fall into the sewerage drains, this causes the sewerage to backfeed to the storm drains and get washed out in with the 'clean' water. Therefore the water quality is reduced in such periods of heavy rainfall. On most of the reporting days, Ainsdale's water quality was reported as good, it was only those few bad days that resulted in a worse result than previous years. There was talk of a system that announced predicted water quality at Ainsdale based on previous days rainfall, I do not know if this has been actioned, but I will mention it at the next meeting and post the comments up on here. Hope that helps put some minds at ease, but I know you lot would go out on a 5h1t coated sea if the wind was right. Looks like a good trip is building for Fraisy this Sunday. Should be a good crowd there for a big day.
PaulLaurie Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 I'm not going to be able to make it to Fraisy hope you guys have an ace day.
