brassneck Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 Bank Hol monday looking good....fingers crossed for a bit o' sun. Bringing a gaggle of kids down to the beach, mostly first time flyers! (so probably v.little flyin for me!!).............. wish me luck keeping them all flyin' / entertained !... Was thinkin of doing Knott End so that the non permit ones can have a go at boarding...... but will probably stick to Ainsdale so I can let 'em run round the dunes if they utter those horrible 'bored' words...! edit...... Come on Carl ..we wait in anitcipation on the unhooked 360 vid ....
carltb Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 ill bring the camera down to the big "A" on monday and ill see what other moves i can come up with!
JohnDave Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 Top day at Lligwy http://farm1.static.flickr.com/243/516596067_efb4bed9c2.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/208/516569050_c82282785d.jpg And a few from the other week at Daymar Bay, Cornwall http://farm1.static.flickr.com/191/516595691_8d7dd7658f.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/214/516595789_5147e711f8.jpg
garykf Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 LLigwy was hot as a hot thing today. John, you must have had a blast way out in the ocean:cool: You were jumping like a man possesed!!!! Nice to be in amongst some proper waves, great crowd and great fun:D
big-jon Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Was given a choice today to go the beach today and go out with family tomorrow, or vice versa. I went out with the family today and from the amount of water on the raod when I got back it looks like I made the right choice!! Forecasts are still saying a bng on shore wind tomorrow and a lot of sun!! I know its only us teacher types that are on holiday but will anyone else be out to enjoy the beach tomorrow?
garykf Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I'll be there early afternoon. got some free time on my hands so foolish not to waste it at the beach with sun and and onshore wind:)
mike_b Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 few more kitesurfers hittin ainsdale again tomoro last shess until the wind comes back on saturday
brassneck Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Cooooool sesh today... kids didnt get tooooo bored!! strange squall blew up creating some v.weird static????? only a couple of boarders out but a fair few on the water. even managed to get the father in law up on an 8m vortex... did a BIG faceplant but loved it! (just got to get Katy up on the 8m next time!)..... kids were cool and managed lots of different kites in changing conditions...... got 'em hooked.... back for more soon!... just got to get em to sort out their own tangles!!.. and cleanin' the car out of sand!
carltb Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 yep that static was crazy. every time i did a jump, on landing there was a strange crackle in my feet (you could actually hear it). at first i thought id landed on some shells but the ground was totally clear. needless to say i dropped my kite straight away as i was expecting lightning to start flashing at anytime.
Bobby Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 OK it rained the wind was sparky, gusty and a bit 'orrible, and even managed a wettie rip on a faceplant, but.....it was an ace session - laffed and loved it . Wind whipping the big Oz all over the place - spray in my eyes - curling back in over 'em waves and setting up for a wee trick, and we even 'ad seals. As for the quality of the water, different and very, very fishy. Lots of people doing some cool stuff out there today - nice to look, see and learn. @JohnD - Cool photos John, looked like a top day. That Daymar Bay looks bap+butter flat and fantastic. Got a buddy lives near Padstow, think that place is not too far from him. Tomorrow looks the last bit of blow for a fair few days - gonna try and make it for a tea-time treat .
JohnDave Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Water was pretty flat, but with perfectly formed waves at 50 yard intervals, enough to play in and not too much to swamp you. Padstow is the home of celebrity chef Rick Stein, got to be worth a look and if the prices are too high then grab something from the docks and throw it on the barbie.
danmon81 Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Last time i was there Fish and chips was £30:eek:  but they where home cut chips!!!! lol Cheapest starter was £15..... Needless to say the local chippy does a fine bag of chips!!! dan
SandMonster Posted May 29, 2007 Author Report Posted May 29, 2007 Just found a possible alternative campsite to Shell island.... http://www.nantcolwaterfalls.co.uk/ Need a nice weather trip after the damp end to Wallop...
HippyMchop Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Yesterday, Wind was up and down a lot in the morning and in the afternoon a big squall hit in with some big gusts overall it was a good day! garykf Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 What a session today, 4 solid hours on the water, sunshine, onshore breeze and a good crowd out. I want more of that:D Luke was pulling off some sweet kiteloop handlepasses on the evening session and Kev landed a few hps as well.

Bobby Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Ainsdale is a gift - treasure these times dudes cos days like today are gonna keep us going November time when it's frikken freezin'. If I married a bit of the sea it'd be that last goon me, Josh, Luke, Tom and Chris were on - flat as fuk and massive, creamy white frothy foam to carve thro and bounce on and way deep enough to practise me faceplants in. Better than sex? dam bleedin' close. http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/set2.jpg http://www.bobmcgee.com/images/kites/set1.jpg Found (G's possibly?) - Mystic Darkrider red harness - now keeping my beer company in the boot of the beemer.

Stayed and watch you guys on the lagoons til 8ish and looked as though you were having a blast. Tempted to get out again but settled for the fish and chip supper in the sunset.
brassneck Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 nice vid carl, made me dizzy!... got them 360's down to a yoda like smooothness. looks like the weather was a little kinder than Monday's downpour. suggestion for no wind weekend...... for anyone thats interested its the brass band / beer walk festival thing (remember the film 'Brassed off'....) up in Saddleworth this weekend (fri - bands, sat - beer walks), best spot is Greenfield cricket club, drag a few beers down, watch some cricket, watch the bands come and go.......not exactly glastonbury but 'different'!...
