I am going to be at Long Reef every full moon night over the next little while. Its good for any wind direction as long as it is at least a moderate breeze. If there is cloud it will be too dark.

Nov 15's forecast is for a southerly to come through. I think that will mean too much cloud and not enough light. I am working till 9pm during the week. I'll turn up on Tuesday and Wednesday night about 9.15pm and fly if there is enough light.

Due to daylight saving I've moved the start time to 9pm. Meet at the lookout at the top of the headland at 9pm.

The full moon dates for the next few months are:

Oct 17

Nov 16

Dec 15

Mic turned up. The breeze that had been blowing all day dropped off late afternoon. I tried some downhill mountainboarding, something I have never done before. The breeze teased us enough to open a 9m frenzy which was ok for downhill runs but not enough for the uphill runs. We are looking forward to the next full moon.

OK, so i went up Tuesday night with Mike, but with the cliff it creates very low wind at ground level so was immpossible to get the Vemon to inflate. Mike got a few runs in, but I was too busy being concerned with my car - the car park doesn't seem very secure?

Alos whats the score with it being a golf course, if your sprung on there is it tresspassing or is there a public right of way...

If you can go up there at twilight i recon it would be awesome.

I am lucky enough to live close by. I discovered how much fun the golf course was by using one twilight after the tide forced me off the beach. As it happened it was a few days before the full moon and I just kept playing long after twilight. That first time the greenkeepers were doing some night work. After I finished I approached them and we talked. If they had to give an official response the answer would be no. They asked me to keep the slides, spins etc to the rough and not on the fairways.

I've been there every full moon since. After each full moon session I go for a dawn jog and I have not seen any impact on the course. I can't see any evidence I've been there and I know where to look.

I appreciate the work that goes into maintaining the golf course, I know to stay off the greens and out of the bunkers.

The golf course is used every dawn and twilight by many dog owners. Just as there is an implicit agreement between these users and the golf club I believe that we can expect the same.

The wind is quite locally variable around the course. I had trouble on Monday night but because the wind was too strong. I usually launch my CQuad by leaning it against a suitable bush. In the end I had to go down to the beach, launch it there and then bound/bounce over the dune to my buggy that I left on the fairway. Next time I am going to take some ballast sand bags to place on the trailing edge so that I can launch it from the GC.

I had a ball on Monday night. It was very bright and the wind was smooth and strong.

Car parks are a worry. I have seen a car broken into at the long reef car park. What can you do?

Hopefully see you there next month.
