andy666
Pulling apart an older cabrinha bar and cutting through the depower I found this. What’s the plan with this? Extra strength? Surely 6mm dyneema is strong enough. Safety indicator, that the line is getting worn? The line is PU sheathed, so I’m guessing not
Kamikuza
Dunno, but Flysurfer did/does the same thing with their depower lines. You know the lines are getting worn because they're all fluffy and splitting. The line they use is about 300kg breaking load, so I wonder if it some kind of way to spread more load? 6mm Amsteel is NOT enough andy666
jeffnyc
Antenna for the tracking device. Installed by the same folks that put fluoride in your water. mik333, Nuclear_icing4, SoutherlyBuster and 2 others
andy666
Well that’s good then, 35 years and only 1 small cavity. So if I get swept out to sea I’ll remember to hold onto the bar so they can come find me. SoutherlyBuster
Jason
Some brands put a mono filament line or similar to reduce the line from flapping about in the wind as much when de-powered. This and many other useful facts can usually be given by your local knowledgable kite shop.
