andy666 Posted December 18, 2016 Report Posted December 18, 2016 Been thinking about arc kites a bit lately. One mod I would like to try is an anti invert / bow tie mods. But before I go to the trouble of fitting it up, I'm wondering if anyone has any feel back or suggestions based on the diagram alone. it shouldn't effect flagging out to safety and is easy swapped between kites. also wondering if it could be used to reduce the projected area, by pulling in the wing tips? Therefore giving a wider wind range. thoughts? Quote
SoutherlyBuster Posted December 18, 2016 Report Posted December 18, 2016 Some how remember one of the Ozone Frenzies having this but only at the top, not adjustable. Would restrict the kite from stretching out when doing sharp turns in light wind, do not know if this is good or bad. Quote
Chook Posted December 19, 2016 Report Posted December 19, 2016 Dunno as I have never flown one, but wouldn't it be better to have 2 parallel lines crossing the kite into a single down line. The rear line having "adjustable distance" knots on the opposite end to the Y connection that would be some way down the anti-invert control line from the kite, to keep tips from flipping. Just my thought. SoutherlyBuster 1 Quote
Kamikuza Posted December 19, 2016 Report Posted December 19, 2016 Low V bar made reinverting the kite easier, but it so rarely happened I wouldn't be bothered with it... Quote
Olof Palmolja Posted February 14, 2017 Report Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) Venom II has an annoying tendensy to bowtie. My Synergy with a little less AR "never" bowties. My idea is to put a spar or inflatable strut in the middle cell. The theory is that this would effectectevly cut the "bowtieable" AR in half thus preventing bowties. Instead of the bowtie knot in the middle of the kite, the next possible bowtie knot will then be between the middle cell and the spar. Unfortunately I cannot test it as my V II 16 is pretty shattered since i run a fence pole throu it ?
