Northern Kites Australia Posted March 14, 2016 Report Posted March 14, 2016 So did you do it? Jump the pier? I hope council don't get wind of this. Quote

I did a simulated jump I went to the end of the pier out the back and jumped high and long enough to know that I could've done it easily. Too many witnesses around, I don't need Altona banned for Kitesurfing Northern Kites Australia 1 Quote
plummet Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 There is one thing jumping on clear water the same distance and height of a structure and another thing entirely to time an actual jump over the structure. It is a completely different ball game! Not even in the same league. Not even close. Not even comparable. But if you think you can do it. Then go for it and do it!!!! I was jumping a boulder wall the other day. It was small by comparison. Maybe 1m high and 5m wide. Run was dodgy and choppy and I couldn't jump too far down wind or I would completely clear the 5m wide river down wind. So even though it was a small structure It was technically difficult. I did the test jump like you. Cleared and landed perfectly. Then jumped the wall. Went higher than expected and almost cleared the river. I made it with mm to spare. The next jump a lull hit just as I launched and I didn't enough power . I just scraped over the wall and landing real close too close for comfort to the boulders.... Any way. Jumping shit adds an extra dimension of skill and risk. It ups the game considerably than simply jumping in the water. If you want to do it and you have the bravery, skill and conditions to do it. Don't hold back man. Do it.! andy666 1 Quote
Skiplant Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 When I was first about to take the plunge into kitesurfing. The first time. it was summer 2010/11. i was watching Kiters down at river mouth at Altona. one guy was jumping the sand spit. But swinging upside down as he crossed dry land. id like to have that much confidence. Quote
SoutherlyBuster Posted April 7, 2016 Report Posted April 7, 2016 Hmm, stuff up on water, perhaps a sprained ankle; stuff up over the sand, loose some bark; stuff up over an immovable object, well let's put it bluntly, death is way up there on the list. Spartan, don't be egged on by Plummet. Live another day to kite. PS. looking forward to your reports of the FlySurfer Boost when it arrives . Northern Kites Australia 1 Quote
