andy666 Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 So I have been offered a job at Broome. It's not exactly where I wanted to be, but the money looks good. I have never been there, so I would like to hear from anyone that has. What the place is like and what are the options for kiting up there? Quote
gum-nuts Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 I've never been, but hope to take the kites someday. Rob Lukin stopped there on his road trip... Cable beach, just watch out for 4wd, crocs and camels! http://www.extremekites.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17176 Quote
jhn.holgate Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 Dude! Cable Beach!!! That's on my list of beaches to buggy on before I die! I hope it all works out for you, Andy. Quote
andy666 Posted July 12, 2014 Author Report Posted July 12, 2014 Yeah, I was also excited about cable beach and kitesurfing in those beautiful blue waters. Until I read about the box jellyfish and crocs and sharks And something called a wet season? It's not definite yet, but I talked to the guy last night and he said if my references check out he will fly me over for a 2 week trial to see if I like it, before committing and having to drive over with all my tools. Tiger37 Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 Andy, I was there last year on my round Australia caravan trip. Loved the place in winter. Modern city with most amenities . Not sure about conditions during the summer wet! It's a long way from anywhere! I kite buggied on Cable Beach. You cannot go near the patrolled area but are allowed further down the beach to the south. Awesome. Quote
Chook Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 Gee need to talk to Rob Lukin, Andy. You east coast fellas are getting to see the light eh? Wolfie, Marty at times (is there such a bloke ) and now of course you mate. Hope it pans out for you. There seems to be a trend that you get promised the world and after you get there it's MUCH different. So the 2 week trial seems a pretty fair offer. All the very best. Quote
andy666 Posted July 12, 2014 Author Report Posted July 12, 2014 Yeah, the trend to the west I think is driven by the all mighty $ Not a lot of work locally and not as good pay as in the west Have sent rob a message, see what he says. The 2 week offer is good, but I'm starting to think it might be better to drive. Will cost the same as flying and means I'll have all my gear with me. Even if it didn't work out I could head down the coast. Quote
